Because the slightly scattered and yet still fantastic Tani will forget this next if it is not addressed immediately, let's move on to the:




1. This is a fanfic REC comm. Please do not post your own fanfiction here. If you think it's a good one, just comment us or email me at tanihissatsu@gmail.com, and we'll check it out.
2. You may agree with some peoples' opinions, you may not. Either way, please DO NOT bash them. This is going to be civil, and I will have no wars here thankyouverymuch.
3. THIS IS A YAOI FRIENDLY COMMUNITY. If that bothers you, or if you just plain object to it on principal, then go elsewhere plz.
4. Do not ask me for posting rights. If I'm satisfied that your taste in fanfiction isn't completely indiscriminate, then I will give it to you myself. Until then, don't bug me.
5. We completely understand how you can lose a fic every now and again. It happens to the best of us. HOWEVER. You may not devote one full post as a search request, because then they will become overwhelming. You may either a) leave a comment at The Fichunt Thread, b) post a fic rec, and a search request, or c) leave a search request as a comment for someone who has posted a rec from the same series.
6. We operate on a three-strikes policy. If you break any of the above rules three times, then we WILL ban you. (seven and eight don't count, they're just suggestions)
7. When you post a ficrec, please put the series in a tag. That way people don't have to go sifting through to find their fandom - they can just click.
8. If you wind up posting more than 5 fic recs, by all means, stick them behind a cut. Flooding people's flists is NOT cool.
9. When reccing a fic, please use this formula:

So, what defines "good!fic"?
Good fic has one or all of the following qualities:
1. Immaculate grammar/spelling. There's nothing quite as annoying as an author who doesn't know the difference between their/they're or lose/loose.
2. A plot that makes sense (the only exception to this are PwPs, which have no plot by definition)
3. Decent characterization. There may be some incongruities, but ultimately, developments and relationships are somehow made believable. (Except for crack!fics, again, exempt by definition)
4. Some sort of depth, so that the emotions get involved and it isn't entirely bland and disconnected. It's all very well to kill a character in an attempt to incite a teary reaction, but unless you can really connect, it'll just be meaningless character death. The same basic principle applies to humor fics, though those have more to do with characterization.
