fst) meant for the sharing of character-based fanworks in the form of playlists/mixes. For lack of a stupider term we'll call these playlists "ficpods."
Do ficpods differ from the conventional fan soundtrack? Kinda sorta. The aim of a ficpod is to present music that a particular fictional character would listen to, whereas the aim of a typical FST or image album is to present music that evokes the character (series, pairing, yadda yadda) in the minds of listeners.
Make sense? No. Okay. Let's try the step-by-step method.
So You Want To Make a Ficpod
You too can create a ficpod in just five easy steps!
1.) Choose a fictional character.
2.) Ask yourself, in all sobriety: "Might this character have an iPod or similar portable electronic device?"
--If YES, proceed to Step 3.
--If NO, proceed to Step 3 and call everything AU.
3.) Ask yourself: "What tracks would this character have on a playlist on that iPod?"
4.) Collect tracks for the playlist via legal and appropriate channels of acquisition ahaha.
5.) Share the playlist (and the music) with the other kids on this here comm.
And voila! There is absolutely no need to:
-- Ask permission or sign up to choose a character.
-- Justify your track selections at length.
-- Provide lyrics or lyric translations.
-- Provide elaborately crafted images of the character's iPod OR the hypothetical cover s/he might make if the playlist were hypothetically burned to CD.
Unless you're some kind of overachiever or something, in which case knock yourself out.

Q.) I want to make a ficpod, but somebody else already did one for my chosen character. Can I still do it?
A.) Yes! Repeat: there are no sign-ups. We're all about plurality.
Q.) I want to make a ficpod, but I have no way to host the music. Can you help?
A.) No! Unlike the admin(s) offst, the admins here are lazy and cannot be arsed.
Q.) Can I make a ficpod for an original character?
A.) You can. I can't guarantee anyone will care.
Q.) Can I make a ficpod for something other than a fictional character? Examples: real person, dog, cactus, motor vehicle.
A.) You could, although it would be oh so avant-garde and I for one find RPF (real person ficpods) kind of squicky.
Q.) Is there a preferred format for ficpod post titles?
A.) Uh, now that you mention it: (medium) Title of source work > Character
Examples:
(anime/manga) Card Captor Sakura > Kero-chan
(manga) Love Mode > Shirakawa Naoya
(movie) Star Wars > R2-D2
(play) Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead > Rosencrantz
