- Ok, Wash? That's absurd. A stegosaurus couldn't ever defeat a T-Rex.
- Of course it could! With appropriate equipment!
Kaylee smiled at him, shakin' her head.
- And what's an "appropriate equipment"?
Wash handed the mecanic his steg' and she could notice the plastic laser pistol tied on the toy's back.
- That's cheatin'!
- No, that's just... optimizin' any resource you get! You T-Rex has...
- Teeth!
- That's right! He can bite my pistol... well of course I will shoot him first but...
- I won't bet on it! Kaylee exclaimed as she attacked.
Gosh, five years old, and little Wash was already just like his daddy...

- I'm sorry cap'n, the mecanic whispered, without lookin' Mal.
He bent over her, tryin' to get a look.
- Well you can. What's up with you girl? You're not focus!
- I can't. I'm mad.
- Mad?
- Yeah. You don't get it? Wash shouldn't be... She was supposed to protect him!
- What? Kaylee, Zoe didn't...
- I'm not talking about Zoe.
She got off the ground and threw her wrench away.
- The very last one I expected a betrayal was from afar Serenity.

'gorram synchronizers didn't want to be fixed this time. Kaylee sighed and stopped fighting with the engine.
Wait a minute... that ain't the... I got the wrong wrench!
And as he could read her mind, Wash handed her the good one.
Without lookin' back, Kaylee smiled at him.
"Thank ya' Wa..."
But of course she was alone. A frist tear dropped on her cheek.
Third time this week, she had this hallucination of Wash still being alive.
She ran her hand on her face, drivin' tears away. Then got back to work, not wondering who had given her the wrench.

Wash looked at the girl standing on the door of the engine room. She wasn't moving, and if he couldn't see her eyes, he knew something was wrong.

- Kaylee? he called.What's up?
He walked to her, put his hand on her shoulder. She finally rolled over.
- Oh, Wash... nothing, all's alright.

- Oh, right. You just don't wanna go in there cause the wallpaper doesn't please you anymore.
She laughed, a second. Then her face got grave back.
- That's here he caught me.

- "He"?

- 'man in red
Wash put a kiss on her forehead.

- That's over meï-meï. Here's just Serenity.
