Name:Finding Fics for the Lit Snobs.
About:My name is [info]telophase, and I am a fanfic snob.

I created this community because I like reading high-quality fanfic, the sort of fic that makes me want to run up to the author and scream "Write something original so I can pay you money for it!" Fic that pays attention to those minor details like accurate characterization, internal consistency, intelligent dialogue, readable spelling and grammar, and tight plotting. If it's a parody, it's the sort of parody that contains real humor, and not just "Wouldn't it be funny if...!" If you spell "chapter" as "chappy," your fic is probably not the sort of fiction I like.

There's so much fanfic out there that it's hard to find the really good stuff, which is passed around through word-of-mouth. I'm hoping that this way I'll be able to find more of it.

Guidelines

1) All guidelines are flexible, except for the last one.

2) Feel free to post a hello and a bit about yourself, what sort of fanfic you like to read. I am all ok with off-topic postings, unless they threaten to overwhelm the community, but I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

3) One fic per post, just to make it easier for me to index in the Memories of the community. Provided I can figure out how they work.

4) Please no netspeak unless used in a satirical or ironic manner. I'd like to be able to take you seriously, and I can't do that 2 ne1 who t4lk5 l1k3 dis.

5) This is the sort of thing I'm looking for in review entries.
--Author
--Title (linked to fic)
--Fandom
--Quick summary (like you'd see on the back of a book - no need for spoilers; can be cut-and-pasted from the author's summary, if there is one):
--What makes this story stand out to you? Please put some thought into this, and in general, the longer the story the longer this section should be. An in-depth critical essay would point out the flaws as well as the good characteristics, and discuss why the good ones outweigh the bad:
--Anything else:
--Full disclosure: are you the author or a friend of the author? This doesn't disqualify you from posting, but it lets people know if there's a possible bias.

6) The moderators are always right, even when they're inconsistent.

Oh yes -- one more thing. Fanart recommendations are always nice, too. Feel free to send 'em this way.
