I still have 20 Joan/Adam stories to complete for fanfic100, but this one was eatting at me to join. And most of these stories will probably be high PG-13 or R, so those of you who aren't into that still have 20 Joan/Adam stories left. That being said... prompt table!
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Joan of Arcadia. The TV Show is the property of CBS, Barbara Hall Productions Inc., and Sony Pictures. The below fanfiction is written for entertainment purposes only and no profit is being made off of this writing.
bold=link. If it's not bolded there's no story to go with it yet.
it'll probably be easier to say that the prompts that are colored pink are not rated R
uhh... heh. Yeah, I guess so. When you pronounce them with an American accent, they sound the same.
It might be porposeful, though. I know in fanfic100 they put lightening, people thought they mispelled it and they were actually aiming for a double meaning.
Hmm, okay. But I don't really see how "would of", "could of" our "should of" has a double meaning. Is this a native speaker thing that I'm not aware of? I'm a spelling whore, so I probably have been first to write to them and ask if it was misspelled on purpose. ;o)
I commented on the prompt tables page at lover100 on if they should be would've, should've, could've and this is the answer I got:
"I assume so, yes. That is certainly how I have taken them to mean.
If that sounds odd, I must explain that this is not my Comm, nor did I write the tables, I am merely meant to be helping the Comm owners out, and as 'Admin' is one of my 'things' it was felt easier for me to repost the sign-up sheet and the tables.
I am assuming that when the partners who own this Comm wrote the tables they deliberately chose to phrase it that way as it is the way a lot of people say it, it's one of those incorrect 'phrases' that has slipped into acceptance - it'll probably find its way into the dictionary before long (if it hasn't already done so).
As such I wasn't about to point out what to me is an error, when in all respects it is probably deliberate and chosen to represent the way it is said. I've seen 'odder' things in table prompts.
Yes, had they been my tables I'd have written them 'Should Have' 'Would Have' 'Could Have', but they aren't mine."
