fanficrantsrants (abbreviated to ffrantsrants because of that darn character limit) is a place to bring your quibbles with... other people's quibbles. If you don't want to start a fight on fanficrants itself, never fear, you can always find one here.

In the interests of fairness in advertising, this community can also be used to post responses to rants anywhere on the web, but I expect the bread and butter of the traffic will come from fanficrants.

-why

does this community exist? Why does any rant community exist? To have a place to come to vent feelings before they build up and messily explode in a fountain of bad feeling that fandom inevitably causes. Science proves that small, controlled explosions are less harmful than large ones, so this community will probably be featured fairly often on fandom_wank. No biggie. Being on fandom_wank never killed anyone.*


*Yet. That we know of.



Fanficrantsrants will be pretty much anything-goes. As founder and (for the moment, sole) moderator, I will not be policing the content of other people's posts. Be aware that if you frequent fanficrants, you may come here one day to find your own rant under protest. Be aware that if you rant about someone else's rant, and the original ranter comes and sees your rant, she will have as much right to respond as you did, possibly with fireworks. Don't worry. We're all friends here.

So sit down, and pull up a BINGO.

I have only a few rules. Hopefully, most of them will be common sense.

1. All swearing, as well as any adult links or images, must be behind an lj-cut. No profane, obscene, or scatological language outside of the cut; no adult or inappropriate icons should be used on the main post. The main community page should be safe to view from work or public computers, even if the individual entries are not.

2. No personal attacks. What? Isn't this a community made specifically to complain about other people? Yes, but there is a fine line between attacking people's rants and attacking people themselves, and I expect you to walk it. We're all adults here, except for those of us who aren't. Do not discuss another user's personal life except inasmuch as it was included in the rant. Do not use abusive language. Believe me, I can tell the difference between a "fuck yeah" and a "fuck you." The former is fine; the latter may result in thread freezing without notice.

3. Please observe common netiquitte. I don't have to tell you this, do I? No oversized font, huge uncut images, repeated post spam, or anything else that would muck up the page view.

4. Please remain on topic. The only posts which belong in this community are rants about rants in fandom. (That includes rants about other entries here on fanficrantsrants. The barber shaves himself.)

5. Do not delete things. Once posts or comments are made into a public forum such as this one, they are considered by this community to be public property. Please do not delete posts or comments, even your own.

6. The unwritten rule. I do expect you to exercise common sense. These rules are not meant to cover any contingency. It is safe to assume that even if there is not specifically a rule against spamming the community with pictures of scat fetish, I probably will not be too happy about it.
