What treats do you give your ferrets? I heard they like apricot treats. Also, do some ferrets just not like treats at all? I tried giving a treat one time to Dominic and he didn't want to have anything to do with it. Thanks :)

My poor Baisley ferret hasn't been doing very well since her vet visit 2 weeks ago. She had her first Lupron shot and was put on a few heart medications for her enlarged heart. Before the vet visit she was a plump 2 pounder and ate like a horse. Well since then she has had awful diarrhea but luckily she is drinking a ton and staying hydrated but my issue is she isn't eating a lot. She is still eating because she is producing stool but in the 2 weeks she hasn't emptied her food dish once. I tried hand feeding her with no success so I picked up some chicken baby food to syringe feed her but every time I attempt to do this she bites her cheeks and starts bleeding. I have tried using a very small 1cc syringe and a slightly larger 3ml syringe with no luck, she still fights me like crazy and bites her cheeks. She has lost weight, I can now see her ribs so that is why I am trying to force feed her. I have tried leaving some of the food in her cage, putting it on her lips, etc... nothing is working.
What are some tips on syringe feeding, I dont want her to bite her cheeks and bleed like she does everytime I feed her. I have tried wrapping her in a towel and scruffing her when I feed her but she fights me no matter what.
Please share with me your syringe feeding tricks.

Boo's deaf.
Rikki always answers to a squeaky toy, and she was right beside us when we squeaked it and didn't respond. BF and I noticed it and he snapped his fingers above her head. She still didn't respond and ran off to chase Rikki. I clapped my hands and Rikki looked at me and she didn't respond.
Any ideas or tips? We've always relied on the squeaker to call Rikki if we couldn't find him.

Today while I was at work BF was letting the fuzzies out to play. He texted me to say he couldn't find Rikki. A few minutes later I got one saying
"Boo found him" and this pic...

Aparently he climbed into her cage and took a nap. She climbed in, desided a nap sounded good and he looked comfy, slept, woke up then remembered she doesn't want him in her cage and kicked him out. BF says she attacked him and chaced him out.
Correction: Acording to BF she woke up, started biting Rikki and he "raced down the ramp and pooped". BF said there was no looking for a litter box or backing up, just land, poop, run.

Not sure if I posted this here yet or not but we finally came up with a name for the little girl.
Boo.
As in the ghosts from mario bros.
Yes, we're nerds.
But she acts like one. She'll chase Rikki or Maya, when they stop and look at her she freezes in place till they turn away and she starts chasing them again.

I was playing with Dominic yesterday and noticed that his ears have a little wax in them and/or dirt, I was wondering if the Marshall Ferret Ear Cleaner is good to use with him? I haven't seen any other ear cleaner but I just want to make sure there isn't anything better. Thanks
Y'know, I'm just wondering...
I know Every ferret has it's own personality, likes, and dislikes,... but I've got a question.
In what ways/places do your ferrets like to be scratched?
I feel it may be a warm hearted question, and perhaps informative, too.

I tried to get a good picture o the ingrediants, but y phone kept going out of focus. Basicalyl corn, corn, rice, rasins, bananas, wheat.
But it doesn't surprise me since the food on either side is mainly grains as well.
I am very sad to say that I have to give my two ferrets up for adoption because we are moving and I am starting a very demanding schedule in school and they will not get as much love and attention as they deserve. Heathcliff is almost 2 years old and Sylvia turned 1 in January. I would prefer to adopt them together, but separately works if necessary. I can provide a cage, a water bottle, food dish, and two litter boxes as well. I was wondering if there was anyone in the Chicagoland/Illinois suburb areas who could give my babies a good home? If it's not too far, I can even drop them off. I figured here was better than people I knew wouldn't take care of them.

Ok guys.
Get this.
I was looking for an extra cage for my babies and stumbled upon a free ferret.
Curious, I looked at it and asked if I could come see him, since most FREE ads aren't that... nice.
I was flabbergasted...
Pine Bedding... When I confronted her about it... she knew it wasn't that good for them but did it anyway...
Dirty cage... MEOW MIX CAT FOOD...
No litterbox...crusted with shit...
But that's not the worse of it..

She claimed it fell out... well.. My vet says otherwise.
You can see the very obvious rip right where his canine was... I have a feeling someone got mad at him.
He's eating fine and has adjusted to our new food well and has a clean bill of health... but I'm still keeping him out of the room in which my other ferrets are... next to my bed, keeping an eye on him..
Gods.
Some people are just stupid..
I just had to rant.

My fiance & I thought it would be cool to get our little guy a leash and harness so we can take him out where ever and so we wouldn't lose him. Oh boy, he sure didn't like it that much, after a while of having it on he kinda forgot it was there I think but trying to get a picture of him with it on was almost impossible since he was so active and running trying to figure out what is on, I got one though... just thought I'd share.
We planned on taking him to the beach but I don't know how safe that is for his health or if that is dangerous, what do you think?

Hello, I just joined this community and thought I should say hii and introduce me and my little guy. My name is Nicole and my ferret's name is Dominic. He is a year and half old.. in Feb he was diagnosed with a grade 2 heart murmur, I was crushed when I found this out... but the vet said I should just keep an eye on him and it's very likely he will live a long, healthy, normal life which I was very happy to hear.. just after running around and playing my little guy will go directly to his hammock and go to sleep lol.
anyway, here is my cute little number, Dominic saying hellooo

I just got a used set of furniture, and all Panda wants to do is get inside the damn sofa! I don't know if I should just stuff something down there or maybe she'd pull that out. Either way, I don't like her being INSIDE the damn thing. Any tips?
When we seperated Rikki and the new girl when BF got hoe the other day it seems like it's a good thing we did. They both had loose stool, which luckily went away within a day, but we kept them apart to monitor food, water, and stool. Poor girl had a diet change and a newhome, and Rikki was stressed. Thismorning I let them run around togehter sinc they both had formed stool. While she was running around I put Rikki in the second level of her cage. I was curious...and...even though I showed him the ramp he looked atme wondering why Iput him in a cage (Thebottom was open, all hehad to do was walk downt he ramp.) So since he must have thought he was being punished or something he curled up in her hammock and started to tak a nap. She climbedin her cage to getsome food.
The moment she got to the second level she started hissing and circling the hammack. It was weirdsince Ive onlyever heard them dooking so I watched. She climbed int he hammack, literally started walking all over him. He woke up with her hissing and...best I can say...it looked liek he was playing dead cause he closed his eyes and didn't move as she sniffed nd head butted him. Then out of no where she started fighting with him. It was only a few seconds, then they stopped. He was still int he hammock, but she hopped out. A few seconds later she started witht he circling and hissing so I moved RIkki bac to his cage till one of us would be home to supervise her fighting. (And of course the moment he's in his cage he clinbs up the bars...he can't figure out a ramp, but he'll climb a vertcal surface...)
He;s twice her size and very placid. His old owner said Rikki was constantly being beat up by an older ferret, and I'v never seen him get agressive. A few play nips here or there, but that's is. Hes jsut a big cuddly lover. I worry about putting them together now since she's very fiesty. Otherthen keeping an eye out for blood or "fear poo" is there anything I can do to make this easier on him...or do they jsut need to fight it out till she learns he's not going to be alpha?
Also...duct tape. My wonderful cat clawed a hole in the couch. Rikki can't get in it or isn't interested in it, But little miss can and is. Earlier today I found her inside hte couch. and I only found that out when she poked her head out of the hole. I want to cover it up with Duct tape (Back of the couch, don't care how it looks)...but..will it be harmful to them if they brake a piece off, or strach it and get glue on thier paws? Or should I jsut look for those plastic furniture savers that clip/glue to the corner or couches and chairs?

Howdy! I'm Evan, your newest member. I Was approved.... 72 seconds ago now. I thought I'd share with you all my story. i'm not a first time owner, I had a beautiful DEW some years back who we adopted from the animal rescue. She had been abandoned in an empty apartment for weeks and was picked up when the neighbors called in sighting "some big rat or something" in the place. She later died with insulinoma, adrenal, and had a horrid tumor of her pancreas that kept coming back. very sad, but she was a great girl and lived a full life when she was with us. On to more current events!

This is Doctor Cruces, my new ferret. No, that is not me holding him that way. I found this guy a few hours ago on craigslist. Cruces was purchased by a silly woman for her young child as a first pet, and upon owning it, the child (of course) is not being responsible for it's care, and she "doesn't want to" so she put up an add... the add read as follows.
"3-story Ferret Cage with accessories $100. Young sable ferret included in the purchase.
Please contact me @ ******"
... I was so very very angry that I called immediately to tell her to remove the add, that I'd be there as soon as I could (which turns out to be tomorrow around 7 o'clock). I Mean really? Cage and Accessories? Ferret included in purchase? GAH! so. pissed. off. right. now. I want to slap her in the head for being a SPO, but instead I'm going to give her my money and get that guy outa there. Gotta finish the ferret proofing that was already started on my house, cause I'm adopting an abused little girl from the local shelter as soon as they think she's ready to get out.
It's a pleasure to be here, btw. Thanks for having me in the business.

Would anyone be interested in buying two unopened 6.6 lb bags of Innova EVO ferret, exp date April 30, 2010? I bought way too much; no way will my three boys be able to mow through it in less than a year.
$18 a bag or if you want both, I'll give them to you for $30. I'll only charge you actual shipping cost. I take Paypal.
Thanks!

Hi!
I would like to introduce myself and the ferrets to the community!
My name is Iratxe, I am 28 years old and Spanish, but I live in Germany. I am female, if you are wondering because of my strange name :)
I have two ferrets, a wonderful silver named Narnia, she is 11 months old and has the best character ever, she has never biten anyone, and used to be super active when she was a baby. Now she is growing a bit and has become a bit of a lap pet. I think is because of the heat too (its her first summer). She is really beautiful and loving and I could not love her more. I got her from a pet store in Spain and she is a "cunipic" (this is a ferret farm like Marshall in Spain). Now that I have a bit more knowledge on ferrets I wil avoid buying pets froms farms or pet shops. She is sterilized and sadly had her glandes taken out too. How sad and unnecesary :( But anyway, She has a very good health and I hope she stays this way long! She is a very small ferret, hardly weight 550 grames.

( More Narnia )
Then I got Alex last week. He is a two months old male black self. I got it in a private breeder here in Germay. "Freaky darkside ferrets" if you want to google it. He has a hell of a character, this small thing! Very playful and full of energy. He is the joy of the family right now and can get really sweet when he is sleepy. I have the feeling he will become a really big boy, as he is 480 grames already. I don“t plan on castrating him until he is 1 year old.

( More Alex )
This is the cage my ferrets have, its is really tall, taller than me! They seem to enjoy going up and down a lot, and ofcourse they get plenty of time out everyday, and also in the playpen in the garden when the weather is good.

I feed my ferrets totally ferret kibbler, high quality kitten moist food and home-mad bone soup, chicken soup and so. For treats they only get malt.
