For those of us who use sex as our trade, feminism as our philosophy and strongly believe the two are not mutually exclusive! And those who support us, or want to learn more.

Here, let us share our experiences as both sexworkers and feminists - whether in social settings, at work, online, in educational forums. Share your frustrations with fellow workers who are complacently non-feminist, or clients who persistently disrespect and demean women. Talk about situations you've used as a platform to educate - whether it be clients, other workers, nonworkers, family, friends - whether on the topic of feminism or sexwork. Bitch about Governments who forget we're part of the community, too (but sneak in the backdoor after hours). Rage over law-enforcement agencies more concerned with penalising you than catching rapists and murderers. Delight in your positive, empowering and enlightening experiences in the industry. Debate the delicate matter of reconciling sexwork and feminism.

Have I used enough verbs yet? :) Do you get the idea? Basically - sexwork and feminism - ne'er the twain shall meet? Here, they do.

This community is particularly for sexworking feminists, regardless of the aspect of the industry they're involved in. However, we welcome others who are curious and who want to learn more about our stance, debate, educate, question, philosophise... etc. Basically, anyone interested in the sex industry and feminism.

You do not have to identify as a feminist to be in this community, either. Naturally, you need an interest in feminism to get anything out of it, though.
Workers: You do not have to be industry-positive to join. This is not a 'sacred whoredom' community. You can still be a feminist sexworker and be industry-negative.

But we are a *moderated-membership* community! This is to (hopefully) eliminate the presence of trolls.

Please make sure your posts relates to feminism and sexwork in some way. Media articles on sexwork are relevant, as changes to legislature, societal attitudes, etc, affect the women doing sexwork and therefore are (according to this community) a feminist issue.
No off-topic posts. Off-topic posts will be deleted.

Do not delete comments you disagree with or have made. What's said is said, so straighten those shoulders and take it on the chin.

Please use an lj-cut for long posts or large images.

Feminist and feminism bashing is not allowed. Thoughtful, insightful and well-reasoned critiques of feminism, whether it be its theory, how it is manfiested today, how it is practiced, etc, are allowed. It must always relate back to sexwork.

There is a three-strikes and you're out approach to these policies.

Topics that argue sexwork is inherently anti-feminist are ok, so long as they are voiced eloquently, non-judgementally, and are educated and come with a readiness to be open-minded about the issue. Blatant flames, abusive or demeaning posts against sexworkers, irrationally sex-negative posts and claims of the 'you're all anti-feminist' sort are emphatically not.
Anti-sexworker posts will be deleted and their poster banned.

This is a safe space for sexworkers. Sexworkers should feel protected and welcome here. Sexworkers should not be criticised for what they do in this community. No sexworking poster here should be criticised for what she or he does for a living. The sex industry can be criticised. The individual worker, or group of workers, cannot.
Posters who disrespects this will be banned.

There is a zero-tolerance approach to both the latter two policies.

Basically, the purpose of this community is to create a space where there can be meaningful, insightful, intelligent, explorative and accepting discourse on the subject of being a sexworker and a feminist, sexwork as a feminist issue and incorporating feminism into the sex industry.
