nightmare that never ends with this virus.
here's what today looked like in PDX.

the rain mirrors my mood. i need so freaking help with this virus issue and the online forums are not responding. i have found several threads that address the problem i have, but not specifically enough. i have an idea from the research of what i'm supposed to do, but no idea what the results mean, or what to do when part of it fails. needless to say, my patience is reaching it's end.
anita tonight, i need her badly.
i am now leaving my office to go home for anita and then to meet jenny and sister for fish.
unimpressed with this day to say the least.

Breathing is fun

Unfortunately, my body seems to be having some issues in the breathing department, brought on by a combination of asthma, allergies and coughing up random yuck from my lungs.
So today I am at home.
Still planning on rehearsal tonight, as not much can keep me from strutting my funky stuff.
Looking out the window, I guess my body picked a good day to pack it in, I'm going to hunker down with the heater, kittens, dvds, my Lysistrata script and some macaroni cheese.
Oh yeah Cat Update:
They're fighting constantly, but do not seem to be actually doing each other any harm, nor do they seem to be trying to. Seamus thinks it makes sense if you think of humans at the equivalent stage of development. Basically, what we've got is two 16 year old boys.
Puck had an accident on our bed, which was annoying, but is starting to become more affectionate, and easier to cuddle. He seems ok with being approached in the study or bedroom, but still is very skittish anywhere downstairs. I'm sure once the whole house feels like it's his he'll be just fine.

Oh no, cute nice girl is gotten get eaten by the vamp....oh wait...SHE'S the vamp!
Wow, man, look at the those clothes...those bangs! I wonder how old Sarah Michelle Geller was when the series started. She seems pretty old.
Xander is freakin' cute. I'd tap that.
I never realized that there was a whole back story before the series started. I wonder if that follows the movie?
Man, even though it's a bit cliche (I suppose it wasn't cliche at the time?) it's still really fun to watch.
Oh no, a To Be Continued!

The Thinking-Machine
My stomach knots apropos:
It is all clunking and ratcheting,
the sickness in the pit of my gut,
thrashing, gnawing, clawing aimlessly
in these last days of the twenty-first century,
in a country, any country. Name a country
and it is there, in me, knotted and sick,
here, in the thick darkness of sudden death--
We are aware of the situation, sir, take a seat
and the doctor will be with you shortly.
Costume adorned, it descends down
from the silvery plumage of an angel,
strobing, as if through a T.V. screen;
can you hear it calling to you now?
There are no grey clouds, no lovers,
only unexpected eyes and the gaze
of a hundred and eleven words, here, where
nothing but the thinking-machine answers.

* Elderland occupies a lot of my time and energy these days -- reading, thinking, communicating with brothers and others, planning a lengthy September visit, and having sometimes-troubled dreams.
* Bicycling is a great thing. I'm mostly just commuting to work, but I take the longer, more pleasant route, 6 miles each direction. It always helps my mood, my emotional balance, and my energy level.
* Espresso, as always, is a great thing.
* Glassgirl7 is cute, fun, supportive, and dearly beloved. And a fabulous cook. And did I mention cute?
* Zoe is groomed, which makes us all feel better. And she's so cute when she's clean and tidy and you can see her eyes.
* New chickens: Fannie and Dottie, about nine weeks old, adorable and cheeping like chicks (although half-grown into hens -- er, we hope they're hens). Still in New Chick Isolation, but soon to be introduced to free-ranging and mixing with the Big Girls.
* I'm sticking with the Susan Howatch novels -- nearly done with the second one (Glamorous Powers) and finding it compelling, even though I nearly abandoned it near the beginning (so much religious talk, so much psychoanalysis) -- and even though it contributes to my troubled dreams because my primary reading time is bedtime.
* New water softener installed, $901. The best thing about it? We pretty much have the money to pay the bill, with a little squeezing here and there.
* China Wok uses (too much) MSG, even when you ask for it to be left out. Great China, on the other hand? Always conscientious -- and they tell me which items they had no control over (prepackaged eggrolls, for example). But the good thing? Zomig works on my migraines, although it took two doses and a morning off this time.
Wow -- that wasn't so brief after all.
