About
Welcome to feedback_inc! This is a different kind of writing community… one where every single piece of work, no matter who posts it, no matter what it’s about, will receive constructive criticism and praise. Please read the community rules before joining, and then let’s get writing!

COMMUNITY RULES

1. The lowdown: EVERY piece of writing which is posted must and will receive AT LEAST one comment from either a member or a moderator.

2. Membership is by approval because to join you must be willing to comment on other people’s writing, not just read it and move on. The mods can’t do all the work – and everyone will benefit from reading other pieces!

3. ALL entries must be 2,500 WORDS OR LESS. This is to ensure that the mods and other commentators don’t get too bogged down with many entries, and to create a sort of excerpt-themed body of work.

4. NO FLAMING. This community is to offer helpful and constructive criticism, not to gang up on an author and tear their work to shreds. This does not mean that criticism will not seem harsh at times, but keep in mind what effect your comments might have and try to be as polite and respectful as possible. Flame comments will be deleted by the mods and the members who post them kicked out of the community.

5. RATE OF POSTING: in the interests of site traffic, it would be much appreciated if members did not a) simply post several excerpts in a row or b) put up too many entries in a short period of time. We are hoping to get a lot of lj users interested in this community, so too much domination by a few authors could be a little difficult.

6. CONTENT: writing obviously encompasses all facets of human nature, and we have no right to ask authors to censor their work. However, you MUST give fair warning of explicit sexual or verbal content. We would ask you to use the “Fiction Ratings” system, which can be found HERE, to classify your pieces. Overall, this format for presenting your work would seem the easiest:

TITLE: The Curious Incident of the Wailing Lyrebird
AUTHOR: aka_centimetre2
RATING: K+
WARNINGS: randy birds, clumsiness-induced violence
WORDCOUNT: 1,946
SUMMARY: A maladroit child finds themselves trapped in a room with some sort of creature which imitates any sound the child makes. Much puzzlement ensues.

7. FANFICTION: this community is NOT for fanfiction, only original work. While we are aware that fanfic accounts for a large portion of the writing on Livejournal and on the web in general, there are other communities and sites for it, such as fanfiction.net. Forms that ARE allowed here are: novel excerpts, short stories, poems (of all kinds), song lyrics, and screenplay excerpts.

8. QUALITY OF WORK: this community is all-inclusive, and there will be no judgment of work to determine whether it is ‘good enough’ to be posted. However, we ask that you do try to have as much correct spelling and punctuation as possible in prose entries – this will make them easier for the mods to read and feedback will get to you faster.

9. Have fun!!! We’re all here to write, and the more enthusiastic we all are about each other’s work the more we can get done! Feel free to introduce yourselves in your first post, as well!

10. We have two systems of tags set up: one for GENRE and one for RATING. Please classify each of your entries using one tag of each kind so we can keep the comm as organized as possible!

11. All members must read these rules before joining and do their best to follow them. Congrats, you got there!

YOUR MODERATORS:

[info]aka_centimetre2 is a 17-year-old aspiring writer from Massachusetts who has completed the National Novel Writing Month challenge three times and just finished her first ScriptFrenzy challenge in April 2008. She hopes to be a published author or columnist in the future, and will be attending the College of Arts and Sciences at New York University in Manhattan starting in August 2008. Her current project: a rewrite of her 2007 NaNo historical fiction novel, “RAF.”

[info]shoredfragments is definitely old enough to know better, but alas, with age has not come wisdom. Her main interest is historical research and literature of the periods c.1300 to 1814. She too would love to be a published author one day, but this is because hope, when not stranded on a rock in mid-Atlantic, springs eternal. As a Brit, she refuses to nitpick international spelling differences, though she has been known to swear an undying devotion to the letter 'u' on occasion.
