Hayley Williams’ VMA Aspirations: ‘I Just Want To Shake Britney’s Hand’

Paramore may be (slightly) sweatin’ their Slipknot competition (they’re both nominated for Best Rock Video) but really, Hayley Williams just wants to meet Britney.

The band’s been busy practicing for their debut VMA performance tonight, which they’ll play live from the Whisky on Sunset. But Hayley still took a few minutes and emailed me back answers to some questions I asked her about tonight’s performance.

Buzzworthy: What can we expect from your first-ever VMA performance?

Hayley Williams: This is the first time people are ever going to see us associated with something this big… the most important thing to us is that people see us being exactly who we are.

Buzzworthy: Do you have any classic VMA memories?

Hayley: I saw the Britney Spears and *NSYNC collaboration, where they were all sitting at desks like they were at high school or something. That performance is forever etched on my heart. (Watch it below!)

Buzzworthy: What are we gonna see you in on the red carpet? Did it take you long to decide what to wear?

Hayley: There is a dress that I have in mind. It was a gift from my man! As soon as I saw it I wanted to wear it to the VMAs. The dress is very… me. That’s the only word I can think of to describe it!

Buzzworthy: Who are you excited to see on the red carpet?

Hayley: I just want to shake Britney’s hand.

so last night i had a dream and it was rly embarrassing but rly funny.

i guess me and a couple of my irl friends (and some ppl i dont even like....wtf?) went to like a FBR Festivus. It was like TAI, FOB, THS, Cobra, & The Cab. So we were like on the barrier and The Cab was on first and me and Mary were all STOKED STOKED STOKED but like no one else was on the barrier. It was like us, and then people were kinda like 5 feet away. Mb for their own protection. So like The Cab comes on and like they added some ~*backup dancers*~ to their act. So like Mary and I were like sitting on pillows on top of the barrier and we were like rockin out idk. And then Alex comes over and is like -ho shit wot r they doin here- but like keeps singing and like lolin. So we're like sitting on the barrier and I guess I was rockin out too hard because I could like feel myself slippin off the barrier and like falling backwards and then THWOOM I fell off and was laying on the floor.

Like I fell off the barrier and like Alex is lolin soooo hard and actualy I was laying on the floor lolin my ass off and I guess because I was immobilized by lols he thought I was hurt and was like LOL LAUREN R U OK and my friends r like YEAH SHE FINE SHE FINE. But like he was like brb dying. And then he kept asking me to do it again bc I guess he thought me falling off the barrier was a funny thing.

idk it was a weird dream.
