Yeah, kind of last minute here, but I think I'm going to want a room. I live an hour away, but with crazy gas prices I doubt I'll want to drive back and forth and stuff. Plus, I'll probably not want to leave anyway. Anyway, uhh, I'm 20. 21 the week after, but I don't drink anyway so whatever. I don't smoke, I'm quiet, boring. I will probably bring my Team Fortress 2 scout cosplay and mess around at the con in that and probably not use the room too much. I'll probably come back, sleep, get up, shower, repeat. Oh, yeah, and I can pay. I suppose that is a plus. I usually wouldn't do this, but it's getting kinda close and I've just decided to go. I'd like to meet first, if possible, and I'll be at the dinner furmeet thing in East Brunswick Thursday at 8 this week. Normally I would do this on my FA gallery, obviously, so apologies for the spam.

I'm going to be attending FA: United in a few weeks as a Dealer, and I thought I would open up for badge pre orders. I won't be taking as many at-convention badges as I normally do this time, so if you think you'd like a badge from me, please consider placing your order in advance(asap, for serious!) to ensure it's completion.

My examples are behind the cut.

Pricing is as follows :
* Standard Badge - $25 USD

So, I'll be making badges that will be able to be delivered to you during FA, most likely on Friday afternoon, (or later, depending on what works best for you).
My styles can vary, so just let me know what your looking for in a badge.

All come cut out, backed, and laminated. I can also chibi-fy your character if you want ;3

With my traditional style, your information (Username, website adresss exc.) can be bordering your badge. This is optional.
They can also come with a tail piece (seperate) that states your name, and any sort of info you want. These are smaller and usually pinned to your shirt, or anywhere you'd like ;)

Sup ev'rybodaaaaaay! You may remember me as that zombie behind the registration desk from last year's FA:U. You'll probably see me again there this year!

Anyways, last year for a while we'd been using the wifi in the hotel to watch some random Youtube stuff or play whatever was on my winamp playlist. Well, this year we're not gonna have wifi at reg, so I'm preparing ahead of time... and well, I need your help!

See, I'm going to make a big playlist to leave on random, and I have some extra cash leftover on the ol' iTunes, so if anyone wants to request a specific song, band, album, or whatever, let me know and I'll add it in. I'm mostly looking for rock stuff, since that IS the con theme and all, but that's a pretty massively broad term, so feel free to interpret it however you want! Also... if there's a Youtube video or two that you think could use some showing, let me know and I'll see what I can do. :P

Feel free to reply with suggestions on this post, or if you'd rather, email 'em over to wag@faunited.org and I'll see what ends up happening! Otherwise then it's me picking everything and we'll end up with a weekend full of nothing but Pearl Jam, Dream Theater, Less Than Jake, and for some reason, "I Miss You" by Klymaxx... and does ANYONE really want that? :P

Fundraiser item for a charity auction supporting NJSPCA!

Species Registration

May just be me but... I don't like the species section on the registration. Why does it have (Cat) next to Feline, why not just stick to the general Feline designation. Are people in a fandom where you take on animal characteristics, are they unfamiliar what a feline is? I'm putting down Unspecified because I really don't see having feline be specific to a housecat. Same thing with Canine, a canine could be a dog or a fox or a coyote... so why just say: Canine (Dog)? Some of the selections say a couple options and list etc, but not the two I mentioned.

I dunno, may be nitpicking but I think you could've just stuck with Feline, Canine, Cervid, etc without something in parenthesis.

The Power of Rock! - Meet the bands!

The Press is a hard band to figure out. They constantly teeter from being a pop band that's kind of weird to a weird, art-rock band that has some ultra-satisfying pop moments. They formed in Atlanta in 2005 and quickly gained a reputation for the strange-but-catchy songs on their debut EP, Noxious Saucy Beast, and their equally confounding live shows, which were sometimes charmingly drunk and sloppy and sometimes tight and technically impressive. In 2006 they released the Red Comes Ringin' 7 inch, further expanding the divide between their Jekyll and Hyde sensibilities. The title track came to be known amongst fans as "The Devil Song' for its churlish, animalistic chanting while the B-Side, "I Like to Talk About Myself" featured some of the finest alternate-tuned, two-guitar interplay since Sonic Youth.
In 2006 the band moved to Brooklyn and released the "Milk, and the Times That Never Were" EP wildly positive reviews and quickly started to make a name for itself in the big city, earning The Deli Magazine's "Band of the Month" title in December 2007. Eager to avoid the trappings of their cliqued move to New York, The Press began playing shows in strictly weird attire for next year. Loin cloths, face paint, cardboard robots, just plain ol' skibbies - the reaction was always the same: "I wanted to hate you guys when I saw you, but I really liked your songs."
The Press is currently recording their first full length and plotting the next phase of their metamorphic existence.

Shitty Grape Lollipops
Once upon a time, in a vision of destiny, Gary Holgren and Kevin Brown came together to create a rock-blues musical amalgamation known as "The Missipppi Leghounds" along with 3 other members. Under this name Gary and K.B. played all over New York City, from CBGBs to the Opaline to the Vibe Lounge in Brooklyn to the Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale. Unfortunately after this long successful run, creative differences led to the disbanding of the group, leaving only Gary and K.B. to stand as "The Trophy Wives. Even more issues left Gary and K.B. without a name, until finally the "Shitty Grape Lollipops" were born. After 6 years of playing together Gary and K.B. are bound to impress with an old school sound built for a new school audience.

I should soooo not be doing this....

But I just ran a quick check on how far FA United is from my house and it's within reasonable driving distance....so I think I'm going to try and go for it...

So, I'm looking for someone who has some hotel room floorspace...preferably in the main hotel. I'll be glad to pay my way, I just need a place to keep my stuff and maybe sleep and hour or two each night for the con and can't pay for a room all by myself. I'm female, non smoker, and I won't be hosting any wild parties. I'd prefer to have at least one other female in the room. That being said. I am coming from Rhode Island and will be driving. I can bring people along in exchange for a bit of gas money. I do not mind taking a little bit of a detour to pick people up in Massachusetts or Connecticut or anywhere along the way to Newark. My car gets decent gas milage (it's a honda accord) so divided up I don't see gas costing much at all. So, if anyone may need a ride please contact me, it's cheaper if I can load up my car. I'm looking for two other people, which will leave plenty of room for luggage.

More formally known as the Annual Anthropomorphic Literature and Arts Award, the Ursa Major Award is presented annually for excellence in the furry arts.

Blotch is up against Heather Bruton, Baron Engel, Sara Palmer, and Georgi Valchev in the "Best Published Illustration" category. We think Blotch's is the best one hands-down, but then, we've got an obvious bias.

You've got until April 20th to cast your vote!

Dealer registration?

I've noticed that the FAU webpage has pre-registration up. But I have not yet heard or seen anything about dealer registration yet.

I am interested in being a dealer or even in an artist's alley if you have one. I'd appreciate it to learn when dealer registration is anticipated to open.

I went to the FA:U2 website and saw this about parking.

"Self Parking for guests attending FA: United '08 is Complimentary. Overnight hotel guests are discounted to $10.00 per night. Valet Parking for overnight guests is $25.00."

Does this mean that if you're attending the con, parking is free if you don't use valet services, but anyone else at the hotel (not attending the con) pay $10/night?

DJing for FA:U 2008

Hey all. FA: United was a total blast last year and seeing as we're doing it all over again, I got to thinking.

Would you guys be interested in hiring an up-and-coming DJ for next year? I've started recently and I think I've gotten really good at it. As far as musical styles, I play a lot of Happy Hardcore/UK Hardcore, J-Core, Darkwave, and similar stuff. I've got all the equipment I need, and I'd just need a sound system to play it through.

I'm also willing to do it for free, just because I have so much fun with it, and I'd love to DJ to an actual crowd. I even have a podcast available of my radio show at Johnson, VT if you want some idea of what it would sound like.

You can either download the MP3s from the blog directly, or paste that URL directly into itunes to automatically download and listen to my latest shows. Anything that says it is a "nonstop mix" will give you an idea of what my "set" would sound like.
