4th-Jun-2006 07:20 pm - Duct tape dress form How-To.
Ooh, I see in this posting that [info]greenpony510 also has a duct tape dress form! I love mine. It’s not perfect (the waist is actually about an inch bigger than my waist) but it’s very good for most of my fitting needs. It also serves as a fun way to try out new outfits.

The form was surprisingly easy to make, and since manufactured plus size dress forms are really expensive and pretty rare it’s a great way to make your own for a fraction of the price.

Here’s my handy dandy guide to making your own Duct Tape dress form: )

Voila! Your very own replica of your torso! At first I was a little weirded out with having a headless replica of my torso around, but it’s actually helped me feel more at home in my body. I know how my body is oriented in the world, how big it is, and it helps me internalize that and get more comfortable with it. And yeah, again, it’s really fun to dress up!

Here’s a page I found helpful in making my dress form, you can also just do a search for other instructions, there are plenty.
