     Okay, I didn't really know who Katie Price was prior to this, but apparently she's got a line of lingerie that she's selling. Check it out.

     According to SizeNet.com's News Service, Katie Price's comments were:

     "There are lots of people who promote their underwear with stick thin models but I wanted to use my family and friends so that's what I did. Asked what she liked about the new range, she said: "The bits that I like are the little bows, the little frills and the short knickers.”

     I'm pretty upset about the story itself because I simply cannot find any positive coverage of it yet (excepting the above tiny blurb). I found the story because, guilty & dirty pleasure, I read TheSuperficial.com. From there, I googled and came up with Egotastic.com, TheBlemish.com, and TMZ, among others. If you're up for the pain, skim the comments on each of these sites. Yes, the majority of them are highly trollish, but some are people lauding these women for their courage. You know what I don't see? Anyone lauding these woman for their beauty. They look fabulous, don't you think? Again, as usual, it's up to us fatshionistas to put this into perspective. These girls are just lovely, and for goodness sake, someone needs to notice.

Sarah Jessica Parker is touring to promote her "Bitten" line (http://www.bittensjp.com/events.php) and I got to go!! There were A TON of people there and the line took forever, but that was because she took the time to talk to each person in line. I managed to get away with an autograph and a few pictures.

Hi. I have a question, it's not entirely fashion related, but did anyone happen to catch Mo'ique's Fat Chance in Paris tonight? It was pretty interesting. I was excited that they introduced Mo'Nique's stylist as I almost always think she's really well dressed (I wish I had her wardrobe).

As I was perusing the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, I was thrilled to discover a full-page size version of the photo and accompanying article here about Nikki Blonsky, the bubbly star of 'Hairspray: The Musical.'

She's so cute! And they didn't Photoshop her hips away!

As an avid movie geek and amateur filmmaker,  this is a small victory for a plus-sized girl who was told to 'quit acting' in college because I'd never get anything more than supporting roles due to my size.

Today's discussion about Beth Ditto "doing Ugly/Gruesome" reminded me of another fat icon who does "Unpretty" and "Frumpy" as a statement: Leslie Hall. Leslie wears clothes (most notably gem sweaters and tight metallic spandex pants) that are considered unstylish and giant plastic glasses last seen at the optometrist's office in the 80's. She purposely and carefully cultivates a look that is the antithesis of Western stylishness and prettiness. In those photos of Beth, there are cues showing that she is also purposely cultivating a disheveled, unpretty look.

To me, Beth and Leslie are doing things (Beth on the side of gruesome, Leslie on the side of frumpy) that women are told specifically and implicitly to not do if they want to fit into the expected Western standard of prettiness. As fat people, there is extra pressure to conform to that standard, to bring our bodies as close to the norm as possible, to not push the boundaries of acceptability any more than we already have by virtue of having a large body. There is the unfair cultural pressure that states what one fat person does reflects on all fat people. What I see Leslie and Beth doing is trying to break out of this box and out of the pressure enforced on them by these "fat rules."

I'm curious to see other views on the culture of fat prettiness and Beth and Leslie's transgressions and subversions.

Can somebody PLEASE tell me wtf Beth Ditto is smoking?? I know some of you consider her to be this great fat fashion icon, but she looks a hot ass, shitty ass mess in these.

And it looks like she's licking her (also fug) shoe, which is just another level of disgusting.


Is she having some personal problems that I just don't know about? Because she looks like she needs a stylist and a serious stint in rehab.

If you read Bust, Beth Ditto has a one page thing in there on DIY fat fashion. It starts out saying "I'm not overweight, I'm fat" and continues on ways to mod clothing, make things cute, and her opinions on stores which dont sell clothing that fits. I photocopied a friend's page, and while I've never bought Bust before, I'm going to pick up this month's and plan on writting a letter to the editor letting them know that I would have a subscription if they kept having features like this one.
