| Woohoo! I scored this dress at JC Penny's today. I'm going to wear it to my dad's wedding. They have a ton of nice stuff on sale now, so go check it out! I think every dress in the store is now 40% off or even more. They had lots of plus size stuff, and for you inbetweenies, all the regular size dresses that I saw went up to a size 16 and some were also quite stretchy, some of the regular size dresses they had fit me surprisingly well. (I am 5'4, 225 pounds, size 16-18, 38C.) This dress I bought is a size 16 from the plus size section. I also found another of these in a similar style, with bright yellow flowers instead of green polka dot stripe, loved it too. And I tried on a really cool gray and yellow geometric print wrap dress... still debating going back for that one! It was great but I don't exactly need it! Any suggestions for accessories to go with this dress? I guess white shoes are necessary but I might buy some hot NEW white shoes. (The ones in the pix are okay but kind of old and scuffed up.) Is there another shoe color that would work? I probably also need some sort of jacket or shrug or shawl type thing... could it be a color besides white? Umm... maybe pink or blue? Maybe not! I think a necklace of some sort would look good, something kind of short and chunky perhaps... any suggestions? Help? YES, THERE ARE BOTH POLKA DOTS AND STRIPES! Amazing! Yet it doesn't look as loud as it sounds... or does it? The outer layer of the skirt is somewhat sheer and there is a second layer of solid green under it. | |

| Hello everyone :)
At this point I feel like I can usually put pieces together to make an outfit (having nice pieces with which to do this is still a work in progress), but I'm kind of at a loss as far as accessorizing goes. I used to wear tons of crazy accessories but I don't have much jewelry that isn't Claire's circa 9th grade. How do I get (re-)started in the wonderful world of accessories as a "grown up"? A poor grown up. ;) Basically what I'm looking for is what inspires you to put certain accessories with an outfit? Where do you like to find things? How much is too much?

| I mean this in the literal sense. My head is large and does not fit into one-size-fits-all hats. This makes me sad, as I have a vision of myself dancing the night away in my hottest goth ensemble, the whole thing topped off by a sharp fedora. But none of the fedoras I've tried have fit. WOE.
Also, I'd like some kind of summery hat that is neither a baseball cap nor made of straw. Visors are right out.
So where do large-skulled fatshionistas find their hats? What's a good summer-type hat I should look for? My inquiring mind wants to know.

| Hey yall! ive been really bored with my outfit options lately and fallen into a case of the winter blahs. in order to perk myself up until spring rears its lovely head, ive been counting on accessories to spruce up some ordinary outfits and add some zest to my bland winter wardrobe. soooo...i present to you (drumroll please...) | |

| So, guess what? I'm totally wearing black tights today! I think I finally did them at least kinda right. What do you think? Also, I picked up my new glasses yesterday, so I'll include a couple of close-up pics too. I think they're really cute. And, as always, any and all comments are welcome! Thanks! | |

| I went out to dinner last night with the fabulous littlecurvieme, and we managed to find me a fantastic pair of shoes in the half hour it took Big Bowl to seat us. Now that I'm home, I realize that the shoes go magnificently with the only dress in my closet (that I have yet to find occasion to wear), but as I confessed over dinner last night, I'm terrible at accessorizing. Under the cut are pictures of me in the dress and my new shoes (please ignore the fact that I haven't showered -- it's Sunday, c'mon). I'm hoping y'all can link me to some fabulous extras (perhaps your favorite Etsy sellers?) in some punchy colors so I feel a little less Dorothy before she landed in Oz. ( They're a tiny bit blurry, sorry. )ETA: I got this Donna Ricco dress for a mere thirty-five bucks at my beloved Nordstrom Rack. | |
|
| Who are your favorite etsy (or other DIY) jewelry sellers that make things meant to fit larger necks/wrists/fingers? I know I can always add an extender, but it's nice when something just fits, too. | |
|
| Yep, just what the title says. Is that what I have? All of a sudden the very inner top portion of my cleavage is getting chafed. I don't know why this suddenly started just now, as I've had a huge rack for as long as I can remember.
Has anyone else run into this, and does anything help? I can't very well separate them and wear something like bike shorts like you can with thigh chub rub... for now I put some Bodyglide on there and hope it will help.
Also, I have a reunion coming up soon and wonder what I can do for accessories. I plan to go simple but cute, with a pair of dark jeans, some killer cowboy boots and a charcoal colored thin turtleneck sweater, but other than some cute earrings I have no idea what to use to pep it up. Do all necklaces look stupid on the outside of turtlenecks? I would wear a corduroy jean-esque jacket on top, but I worry that it would get too hot.
Thank you! | |

| Winter is coming up and lady identified fatshionistas start looking for tights. Or at least I do. In an attempt to stave off repeated "where can I find fat girl tights?" posts, I'm making a big round up of all the places I've found them. I'm noting price, size range and color options. Some of these tights are only going to fit inbetweenies/smaller fat. Options for taller fat and larger fat are limited (thought I did find some). Additions to this post are welcome. I'm focusing on tights, and mostly looked for online ordering options. For panty hose, fishnets or socks you need another post. ( tons of information about tights inside ) | |

| I need to find a new belt for work. I work at a treatment facility, so it doesn't have to be corporate, but a studded belt isn't appropriate. And a studded belt is the best thing I've ever found to keep my pants from doing that thing in the back where the belt rises above your jeans when you sit down. So I need something comporable in width and stiffness to a 3-row studded belt, 42"-44" waist, black, white, or red preferably.
Any suggestions as to where to look? Brick-and-mortar stores a plus so I can go try them on.

| Mine recently got in their fall/winter over-the-knee socks, including cute striped and ruched ones. I am tall and I have wide calves, so I usually can't wear kneehighs, never mind o-t-k. But the Target o-t-k socks are just right as kneehighs for me! I usually wind up folding down the top an inch, but no big deal. I need to pick up a couple of pairs, because I get a big kick out of wearing them. :) At least, assuming they haven't changed 'em from last year. (Oh, and my lavender-and-black ones held up well despite being worn frequently.) | |

| It's been a LONG time since I've posted an OOTD, fortunately I was feeling pretty today with my new hair style and outfit so I decided to snap a few pictures. I was visiting my Mother for the weekend last week, and I just loved how well layered her new short hairstyle was. I had her book an appointment for me with her hair-stylist and had the stylist cut off 7 inches of my hair. I'm very happy with the new style, while maintenance is low it still comes out chic enough for me. It was also important to incorporate my natural curl into the style so I have left the back very layered and mess it up in lots of curls when I style it. ( Onto the OOTD ) | |

| Not neccessarily dead or alive! I've checked out all of the usual suspects online and I can't find a red, genuine patent leather belt to save my life. I'd like one that's around 4" wide, and I wear a 20/22. It can be a little smaller as I'd like to wear it underbust. Though I'm not really keen on them, I'd even settle for one that's partially elastic as long as the buckle/tongue bit is real leather. I live in the SF Bay area. I'd like to keep the price under $30. (Any chance someone's got one gathering dust in the closet?) Thanks for any leads. | |
|
| I could've sworn there was a post about this a few weeks ago, but I can't for the life of me find it.
So, best place to buy glasses online? Preference to the best of those discount "frames and lenses for $30!" types, if any of those are decent. Also, is having bright red plastic frames a faux pas for a redhead? Is it too Sally Jesse?

| Dear fellow Canadian fatshionistas! Help a fellow fat chick find one of the new wide belts in T-dot!
I'm specifically looking for a brown one... as well as other colours. I'd like a leather look or fabric wrapped non-stretch one. Which stores have you seen them in? I need a 40 - 42" waist.
Also... any sightings of low price ballerina flats (the new round toed look) in a women's size 11 narrow?
|
| I bought this dress from another fatshionista a couple of Fridays ago, and I feel like I should switch out the black belt that came with it. I've never been much of a belt person, so help me out here; what kind of belt should go with this dress, if any? ( the dress is here ) | |

| A day or two ago I asked for help finding shirts, because I was doing back-to-school shopping and not having any luck. Yesterday I went to a bunch of places, and ended up getting 2 shirts from the Gap, and today I went to a bunch more stores and ended up with nothing. ( Some shirts, and some accessories! )Also, do any of you have Natural Comfort shoes? How do they run? Are they comfortable? I want these ones in teal or maybe raspberry. However I have recently come to the realization that even though I've been buying size 10 shoes since 5th grade, I may actually be a size 11 (10.5 really but I can never find 10.5 in shoes I like). This limits my shoe shopping options a bit. | |
|
| Has anyone purchased glasses online? If yes, where from? Good experience or not so much? I intend to narrow down the actual frame options in person - will likely be back for opinions within a few days, actually - so the look itself isn't an issue as much as knowing what to expect as far as customer service and such. | |

| Speaking of bags... Where do you purchase your handbags? I am looking for handbags where the straps are long enough to fit over my shoulders (the style where the bag nestles under your arm), or straps that are long enough to go over your chest.
So, basically, do plus-size handbags exist? And it so, where do you find them? Thanks!

| Poll #1033278 Late eighties - early nineties
Open to: All, results viewable to: AllDo you remember those "garter clips" which were like a few inches of (usually elasticated) ribbon with what looked like suspender clips on either end - you used them to cinch loose fitting shirts and dresses into flattering shapes? Wow, so much clip-hate! :-D Believe it or not, visions of scrunchies and slouch socks aside, when they first came in, they were considered "edgy." I even saw guys pull up their pants into floods with them. Yes, really! I also want fit-and-flare shaped dresses to come back. *hides*

| Piggybacking on the "fat and frumpy" post earlier...
I am a pretty low-maintenance person. I have a few "staple" outfits which I rotate seasonally; they usually consist of some variation on a plain t-shirt and jeans. (I like to buy in bulk :P) I like good shoes, but they tend towards the sturdy side (Danskos, cowboy boots) and I don't have a lot of them to rotate. I do notice, however, that lots of women around me seem to be more "put-together" than I am, even when dressed casually.
Because my weight and shape have been fluctuating a bit, and because it's a good way to jazz up simple outfits, I'd really like to learn how to accessorize better. I have pierced ears, but I never change my hoops; I have maybe one or two necklaces that I wear to all formal occasions.
So how would you suggest I get into better accessorizing habits, both in terms of clothing (layers, etc.) and jewelry? Are there some staple accessory pieces you'd recommend, or a particular number of items that make it so you're ready for all occasions? How do you get used to accessorizing daily with different things?
Areas I'd like to work on: necklaces (I have kind of a big neck, but I have great cleavage), earrings, ways to make me look like I didn't just throw on the first t-shirt I found (which I did :P), maybe some different belts, etc. I know there are other clothing pieces that are great for this kind of thing (I have an olive green corduroy jean-style jacket that I love), but wearing them over and over can be easily noticeable.
Thanks! | |
