I finally got around to uploading pictures from my camera. This outfit is from Mother's Day.

I saw the dress on the Lane Bryant ad and fell in love with it. I was a little worried that I was setting myself up for disappointment because dresses rarely fit me right (yippee for being different sizes in the hips, waist and chest), but the dress is really forgiving in the chest because the back is smocked, so it can stretch to fit just right. Only problem is the straps are detachable and kept starting to pull out on me, so I'm going to just sew them on.

That's not the clothes, it's the camera, I promise. :) All clothes come from a smoke-free, but I do have pets--dog and cat. I will lint-roll the clothes prior to packing. I recently won on Ebay the sequined little black dress (just above the knee, 'flutter sleeves', black sequins all over it) from Torrid (of course, not available on the website anymore) in a 3, but it's too big on me. These are gorgeous! I'm so sad they don't fit. I just ordered them for my birthday. I have REALLY wide feet, and though I can squeeze into these, they just aren't loose enough for me (too used to wearing my big Birk's I guess). So I only wore them around the living room, and then put them right back into the box. Instead of sending them back, I figure I'd see if anyone here would be interested! Because I'm in Canada, and had to pay for shipping on top, I paid around $115 total... PLUS shipping anywhere in North America, I'm hoping to get $100 OR BEST OFFER!

GENEVA (Reuters) - Obesity contributes to global warming, too.

Obese and overweight people require more fuel to transport them and the food they eat, and the problem will worsen as the population literally swells in size, a team at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine says.

This adds to food shortages and higher energy prices, the school's researchers Phil Edwards and Ian Roberts wrote in the journal Lancet on Friday.

"We are all becoming heavier and it is a global responsibility," Edwards said in a telephone interview. "Obesity is a key part of the big picture."

At least 400 million adults worldwide are obese. The World Health Organization (WHO) projects by 2015, 2.3 billion adults will be overweight and more than 700 million will be obese.

In their model, the researchers pegged 40 percent of the global population as obese with a body mass index of near 30. Many nations are fast approaching or have surpassed this level, Edwards said.

BMI is a calculation of height to weight, and the normal range is usually considered to be 18 to 25, with more than 25 considered overweight and above 30 obese.

The researchers found that obese people require 1,680 daily calories to sustain normal energy and another 1,280 calories to maintain daily activities, 18 percent more than someone with a stable BMI. ["Stable"? Mine's been the same for about 10 years...]

Because thinner people eat less and are more likely to walk than rely on cars, a slimmer population would lower demand for fuel for transportation and for agriculture, Edwards said.

This is also important because 20 percent of greenhouse gas emissions stem from agriculture, he added.

The next step is quantifying how much a heavier population is contributing to climate change, higher fuel prices and food shortages, he added.

"Promotion of a normal distribution of BMI would reduce the global demand for, and thus the price of, food," Edwards and Roberts wrote.

Obese people consume 18% more food energy than leaner counterparts

Researchers from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine have revealed that obese people consume 18 percent more food energy than their leaner counterparts.

For the study, Phil Edwards and colleague Phil Roberts estimated the hypothetical difference in food consumption of 1 billion obese and 1 billion lean people.

The pair calculated the dietary intake of lean people with a body-mass-index (BMI) of 24.5 and examined it with the diet of overweight people with a BMI of 29.

The findings revealed that lean individuals consumed an average of 2500 calories per day, while obese individuals 2960 calories.

The amount of calories consumed by lean people was 18 pct less than the obese.

When further divided into 'resting' and 'active' components, the results revealed that obese people consumed 1680 calories per person per day just to tick over, compared with 1550 calories for leaner people.

"It's just due to being fatter," New Scientist quoted Edwards, as saying.

fat navel piercings?

this may not exactly be fashion-related (i hope it's still appropriate, though), but do any of you have navel piercings? i'm considering getting mine done and i was wondering if anyone here with a navel piercing might share their experiences or maybe a photo or two (if they have them)? upon searching on google a lot of the stuff i get is like "don't get a belly button piercing if you're fat" and yadda yadda, so it'd be nice to hear some actual experiences, including actually *getting* it, and the reaction of friends, family, strangers, etc. upon seeing it. thank you!

The boots however, are in a straight 8. I'm giving these up because I just can't wear these in Florida heat & it doesn't stay cold here very long. These are super cute & very versatile!

Okay folks, I'm having my semi-annual "I Don't Know How To Dress My Body" freakout. I'm still trying to figure out what to wear in the way of tops. See I've got some weird measurements. My bust measures 44 inches. Directly below my bust I'm 32". That leads to me have about 4 inches of breasts hanging like a cliff over my stomach. It also leads to problems like this:

This is an American Apparel men's deep-v shirt in small. The medium resulted in problems similar to the next picture. Those wrinkles in the middle are the extra fabric under my boob shelf. There are especially problems where the under part of the shelf meets the side of my body.

This is a Fruit of the Loom medium. It pulls across my bust and a bit across my belly and then there's the baggy extra fabric at my waist where there's this empty tent-like area. Yes, this shirt was wrinkle-free when I wore it yesterday.

The only time neither of these things happens are when I wear shirts that are way too big for me. So what's a girl to do? I want some fitted shirts to wear outside of work, but I don't know what to do. Everything I've tried on pulls weird and I think I sometimes just buy things because either I've given up or somehow tricked myself into thinking it looks good when really it doesn't.

This of course leads to another problem. When shirts mostly fit me like the first picture, I get stares at work. See, I work at a residential treatment facility which is about 2/3 teenage boys. My ridiculously large breasts in reasonably fitted shirts get stares from both my coworkers and the boys. So I feel really weird wearing anything but oversized skater-esque t-shirts.
