i am still going thru the multitude of things in my closet that i never wear & would like your opinions heres a couple things that i have been keeping sayin i will wear them i will, lol but i think that i have so many issues with being uncomfy in strapless bras (i just got two brand new from LB but they still feel weird) that i want to get rid of all my things that need strapless, that would be the first 2 and im jsut not sure if they look right anyway, then the pink its not speaking to me, i love the last 2 but im not sure if black on black is good & im not sure about the animal print, and what shoes would i wear with it or with the pink? any comments would be most welcome! please excuse my awful face today i have a yucky fever blister :(

Coordination Help

I jumped on the band wagon and bought a high waisted pencil skirt today. When I got home I realized A) I have NO idea how to wear it, and B)I don't know if I can wear it with my body shape. Heres some pics of some coordinations I was playing around with. Tell me what you think.

levi's shrink to fit?

has anyone every purchased levi's 501 shrink to fit jeans? I'm debating on what size or order. Most places say to add 2 inches (to waist size) for shrinkage, and then an additional 2 inches for having hips (these are men's jeans)...

I own men's pants in sizes ranging from a 40 to a 48...and am generally a 44 or 46...I think.

Sorry for the back to back post, Fatshionistas. My last post/shopping trip was very work-dress focused, and I still have a weeklong trip in the hottest part of washington--and another month of summer--to go. So I had to pick out a few breezy tops. Also, while my juicy couture swimsuit is the greatest thing I've ever worn, it is not Jacuzzi safe. So I had to go to find a more everyday suit, and surprisingly found it in my closet. I never wore this swimsuit before because, well, I'm not sure. I grew a cup size this year (far past puberty, so that's strange) and maybe it's because I fill it out better. Point is, I put it on and fell in love. This is apparently the summer of pin-up swimwear.

I've had a hell of a time trying to a find a good pair of shorts, so I took matters into my own hands and cut up a pair of olddddd old navy jeans that were too short but fit well. I bleached them a bit and frayed them and they turned out super cute. Free shorts? I can dig it.

These American Apparel v-necks are a godsend. They're already oversized, plus AA is suprisingly good about plus sizes. They're not too pricey, either--a three pack of solid colors is something like $40. And the cotton is super soft. I definitely recommend them.

Avenue Pants Review and a Question....

I got an e-mail from Avenue offering their Signature Chinos for $10 in-store only, so I decided to check them out.

They rock. Hard. If you have one of these coupons, I strongly recommend going there ASAP. (the offer is for Friday and Saturday only)

I normally have to choose between saggy butt or muffin top, since my waist is proportionally larger than my hips, but these fit perfectly. The stretchy band in the back of the waist is kind of ugly, but a non-issue if you don't tuck in your shirt. (I suppose you could also wear a belt).

But the most surprising part is that at 5'11", I didn't need the tall size. In fact, there was about 4-5" of fabric pooled on the floor when I tried on the tall size.

So here they are, in a size 26 average...wrinkles and all.

I also tried on a pair of their new Rigid Denim jeans and UGH. I had a serious flashback to 1991, trying to shove my stomach under the waistband of stiff, un-yielding denim. I would not recommend these to anyone that has more than a tiny lil' tummy pooch.

And I have to show off the freakin' cutest shoes ever. I got these at Fashion Bug on clearance. They're a 10W, if anyone cares. Lol.

And now I pose a question to ya'll.
Does it piss you off to walk into an exclusively plus-size store and realize that the entire sales staff is VERY much non plus-sized?

My local Avenue has consistently employed skinny chicks, almost exclusively. In fact, in the five years I've lived here, I've seen one plus sized woman, ONCE.

One of the things I enjoy about a store like Lane Bryant for example, is seeing women in my size wearing current stock. I've bought several things I never would have even tried on if I hadn't seen a similar shaped sales clerk wearing it.

But more than that, I feel like a plus-size clothing store should be a comfortable place for it's customers, and I don't think having three extremely skinny (and ultimately rude) sales clerks makes for a comfortable shopping experience.

Perhaps I'm being overly sensitive, but I just felt like the message Avenue was sending was that they would rather have rude, unresponsive sales staff that could wear a size 4 than an actual plus-sized person, who if nothing else, might at least have a clue about plus sized fashion.

I'm tempted to write a letter to corporate, but I'm not sure if I'm just being whiny.

This lovely dress is a size 22 from dressbarn, but runs really big, can fit a 24-26 easily. I wore it once for a wedding that was it. It's pretty and has swen on beadwork and flouncey sleeved areas. Very comfortable too, perfect for a wedding or cocktail formal type of event. This was originally well over a $100 when I bought it, so I am selling it for $15.

This is a very small skirt, fits a 22 inch waste. It's real leather. I know it's not plus sized. I bought it from ebay thinking it was a size 22, not 22inches. *DUH*. But maybe you have a friend who wears a 22inch waste or you are crafty and just want the leather. Outside of the size, the leather is in great very nice condition. $5

Also, I have a very cool looking black vynil jacket, in perfect condition. I bought it years ago at a fetish store, it's real pvc and very fun!
Size 16-18 (it does not stretch) I know a paid a good deal for it when I first bought it, haven't used it or worn it in years. It's lonely just hanging in the back of my closet. $15

Torrid Lip Service PLUS dress 18/20/22/1X/2X

This is an absolutely adorable dress made by the highly desired Lip Service/Los Angeles clothing company. I purchased it about 4 or 5 years ago at Torrid in their pre-pink days and, although I have tried it on, I have never worn it.

This dress, which is no longer available, is a darling retro 80s style number – made from a fun, stretchy, tiny-rainbow-striped (running on the diagonal) acrylic/spandex blend that will allow you to dance all night long and still be comfortable! In addition, it has a drop-waist and a subtle, cowl-like neckline, giving it a very distinctive slouchy retro 80s look.

This dress is incredibly comfortable and figure flattering and will fit many figure types. It is a generous, stretchy size 2X – and, depending on how you like your clothing to fit, could certainly be worn by someone who wears a size 18 - 22, as well.

I’ve held onto it for so long because I love it so much and I knew I might not ever be able to replace it. However, over the course of the past few years, my style has changed (HELLO GROWN-UP WORLD! Bah!) so I think it sitting in my closet for close to 5 years is long enough. It needs to be out there closing down the clubs whilst gracing the body of some gorgeous young plus-sized dame with a flare for vintage fashion and style!
