AboutThis community is for people who are against the all too increasing wave of obesity in society (especially Western) which tells people that it's ok to effectively kill themselves with over-indulgence, to sit and wallow in a state of obesity and [futility]. We are a group of people who think that it is shameful and irresponsible for parents to feed their children on junk food to the point where their health is at risk, who think that it is unacceptable for food companies to churn out cheap junk which is making people sick while healthy food remains over-priced and less readily available, who think that the lifestyle of the obese is having a significant negative impact on the world, and its environment, and who think that it is disgusting and hypocritical for society to effectively condone slow suicide and the rapid decline of our culture into something which is lazy, unhealthy and rooted in greed.
This has nothing to do with shallow aesthetics and everything to do with, in some small way, taking a stand against the epedemic of obesity which is killing so many people. Self inflicted obesity IS ugly, and it's ugly because it is the outward manifestation of someone who is killing themselves.

And a note to the "pro ana" crowd that keeps showing up here: Please seek the help of a competent psychiatrist. Anorexia and bulimia are potentially life-threatening diseases. You wouldn't deliberately get AIDS and then brag about the weight loss it caused, would you? Being seriously underweight is no better than being seriously overweight.
