About
Welcome to the [info]fat_art LJ community!

This special little corner of LJ is for the posting (and occasional discussion) of original works of art depicting fat people, male or female. Emphasis is on the word "original:" You should be the artist with the copyright to post the image in question. In the event there's an actual human model involved (as opposed to pictures of sculptures or a scan of drawing/painting), you MUST have their written permission or other signed model release to post the image in question.

The members of [info]fat_art occasionally post adult material to this journal; underage viewers should not proceed. This is a moderated community that adheres to the policies set forth in FAQ Question #196 ("What are my responsibilities as a maintainer or member of an adult-oriented community?"). All members are required to have their full date of birth on display in their profiles, and all posts (as of 28 April 2007) are restricted to members only.

Please note that we make it a policy to check the userinfo of any journal requesting to join [info]fat_art (as a safeguard against trolls), and if the journal shows no sign of use (no interests listed, no entries posted, no friends added outside of the default LJ communities), we are far more likely to decline the request.

"So what is fat?" you may be asking. For the purposes of this group, if the model/art piece is someone obviously over at least a US size 14 (UK size 12), not someone who went over the bogus height/weight charts by a few pounds and now bitches about being "fat." Obvious curves and/or rolls should be evident. Super-sized BBW's and BHM are also more than welcome.

Note also the phrase "works of art" in the first paragraph. You are welcome to post self-portraits, but this is not a camwhore community. Work that consists of nudity should be considered tasteful and avoid obvious sexual activity. Erotic is okay...raunchy isn't. If you have any questions about something you wish to post, please contact either [info]yohannon (the community's founder) or [info]kshandra (assistant moderator), and we'll do our best to answer them.

To prevent the horror of slow connections from making load times of the group prohibitive, please put ALL pictures behind lj-cuts. Check the LiveJournal FAQ for instructions on how to do this. To prevent the image from being so large as to make viewing difficult, it should also not be larger than 600 pixels on any side (though the occasional exception is fine, within reason).

If you wish to discuss fat art, rather than display it, use of the [META] tag in your subject line is requested. Samples of appropriate [META] topics include [info]yohannon's Art Porn As Artistic Expression and [info]celisa's My Activist Art Project. (Note that these were both posted before the establishment of the [META] tag, so you will not see it there; if either of these were posted today, however, the tag would be expected.)

Finally, excessive cross-posters, rude people, drama queens, or lipophobics should not bother: Your posts WILL be deleted.
