Had work-brunch with friends CC1 & R, the Friday before MoCCA. I admire these smart and successful women, massively and while it may seem on the surface we have little in common, our minds work in the same creative circles, we like similar music, foods, films... and when it comes to Fantasy/Fiction we're scarily well-versed, almost enough to finish each others thoughts as well as sentences. It's a beautiful thing!

So in synch we are, the term "Steampunk" was abused throughout the lunch having never mentioned it before, just ever.

I know it's been around for forever, but isn't it funny how you can not have HEARD a phrase out loud before and suddenly it surrounds you, its all around. CC1 wants her new character designs Steampunk. At MoCCA I manned the Make-Sale tables with a Steampunk artist (Andriano the Merciless) and his writer friend pimping their Steampunk comic, in full regalia! There was a girl across the way, doing Steampunk portraits (I soo wanted one, but didn't have the time to ask ) The same week, my Faerer-Half goes and up dates her portfolio-page with loads of images from her new line, all of which, you've guessed it, STEAMPUNK! It's kismet! I'm really looking forward to the transition. I hope fans are too, as it's a big leap from the Mortal Instruments.

Been so busy lately, the MoCCA recap keeps getting put off. Maybe it won't come at all, although I had fun and am über thankful to everyone for just being amazing and providing the best swag, just EVER. Hope you're all up to seeing rough designs and early sketches, because that's all I've got permission to post for a while yet ^^;

As I replied elsewhere is a significantly less eloquent manner, this whole Orphan Works Act thingum has brings out the petty in me. Which is of course the best way to get me to produce works, piss me the fuck off and I'll create a world in which to martyr your kind.
Portfolio fodder is hard and never fun, but like most vengeful, petty and utterly self-flagellatiing things, the end is ever so satisfying. ^_^

Meanwhile: MoCCA Art-Festival is this weekend! [June 7-8. Hours: 11:00am - 6:00pm].

This is my first MoCCA Art-festival (god willing, if I don’t surrender to heat-stroke it wont be my last ^^;) I'll be hoisting comics onto people at MoCCA's Make Sale table [Ballroom B, Tables B-22/23] both Saturday and Sunday between 3 - 4. Not just my comic but loads of lovely others, to the benefit of the Museum! Apparently I'm such a giving person I'll be fluttering around in all of the weekend, for general volunteer things. (Honestly, I'm as suspicious as anyone about this new 'giving personality' but it makes sense since I have an insufferably short-attention-span when forced to man my own table.) So, Come & Play! Bring Toys...or RedBull, or just packets of Sugar. It's all good with me!

Lastly: I want to do nanomango soooo bad, it's shaming. I've just got this itch, to do everything and to do it now. Maybe I'll just lose my mind before day's end, how neat would that be ^_^
