| About: | The Fantasy Amateur Press Association was founded by the science fiction fan, author and editor Donald A Wollheim in 1937; its first mailing was distributed that July, including this pledge: "There are many fans desiring to put out a voice who dare not, for fear of being obliged to keep it up, and for the worry and time taken by subscriptions and advertising. It is for them and for the fan who admits it is his hobby and not his business that we formed the FAPA." FAPA celebrated its seventieth birthday in 2007, when science fiction author Robert Silverberg was selected as its president. Anyone interested in joining should contact the association's secretary-treasurer, Robert Lichtman, via robertlichtman [at] yahoo [dot] com.
