[i]lifewithlogan: After the next pot of coffee

I'm about to go brew another pot of coffee, and then I'm going to experiment with: watching a short "Gotham Girls" animated video from the new DVD that I received, then going to Second Life and dressing as Harley Quinn to review it, and posting the review here through blogHUD. We'll see if that works. First, coffee!

[i]fandom_me:

So, here's what I'm learning from Blog-a-thon so far:

I can not have coherent, well thought out, well written posts every half an hour. Because I don't have a half hour to write them in, I have something closer to ten minutes, after answering the comments to the previous posts, and attempting to do anything else. I really suspect most of my interesting posts are going to happen after 8 p.m EST (when my kid goes to sleep).

Meanwhile, um. Ask me questions? I can use those for topics for the next little bit. Personal, fandom related, whatever. (And I can not thank you people enough for helping me with this thing).

[i]lifewithlogan: Day of Blogs: who else?

I should have done this before, of course, but I have set up a separate friends filter to read people's Day of Blogs (blogathon) posts. I have [info]featherjean and [info]darlas_mom and my monitor [info]sohorhapsody on that list so far - who have I missed?

Edited for clarity: The filter I am talking about here is for me to read other people's posts. I made it public.

These blogathon posts will all be public, according to the rules of Day of Blogs.

"Broken Ties" offered so many lovely moments--from self-sacrifice to bubble baths. Nice to see Teyla finally making a decision about being a stay-at-home mom vs. fighting for literal universal freedom.

Polyamory is something I really want to do a post about - you know, kind of like how I did for BDSM with all the ranting and foaming at the mouth amongst all the real information. Unfortunately, I find that it's absolutely impossible for me to explain well, at least without resorting to badly drawn diagrams.

It's still something I want to do, though. Meanwhile, I wonder at the amount of personal information I wind up sharing about my life over here. I remember a time when I was at all cautious on-line. That time seems to have passed. I'm not sure why, but it may be something I visit today, too. God knows I'm going to have lots and lots of time to write and babble about all sorts of things.

I'm keeping the fic-bits in reserve, for when my brain is giving me *nothing*, including babble.

I would also really love to not be typing faster than my browser can keep up with.

[i]amireal: So am I the only one...

...who keeps critiquing the supposedly kinky handcuffs TV likes to use to signal someone has a less than vanilla sex life?

...

...

Yeah okay then.

[i]lifewithlogan: Amazon.com order arrived

I just received a box from Amazon.com with two items that I had ordered: the complete Birds of Prey television series on DVD for myself, and the game "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Game of the Year Edition" for Jess.

I guess my copy of [info]rgoing's The Judge Report will arrive separately on Monday.

[i]ladyelaine: Reason #7,436,051 why I love Spinoza

Ha!

...[I]f intellect and will pertain to [God's] eternall essense, these attributes cannot be understood in the sense in which men generally use them, for the intellect and will which could cinstitute His essence would have to differ entirely from our intellect and will, and could resemble ours in nothing except in name. There could be no further likeness than that between the celestial constellation of the Dog and the animal which barks.
--Spinoza's Ethics

In other words, even if there is a Divine Plan or Cosmic Consciousness or other smug anthropocentric supposition, the very nature of God means that it would be so far beyond us as to kick anthropocentrism in the nuggets, and we would be as irrelevant to said plan as an amoeba is to a thunderstorm.

[i]aello_lime: my hed is pasted on yay

Oh goodness - my mom is coming to visit next Friday. I'm both overjoyed - the woman owns my life, srsly - and terrified - what if I can't make it an interesting vacation for her? What if she doesn't like my apartment or my cooking?
We'll spent a few days in Tokyo - I'm wondering if I want to risk the Johnny's store - and a few at the end in Sendai to see a Festival and for me to go to my concert. There's a big gap in the middle where it will just be Yaita. Day trip to Nikko, definitely, and to Utsunomiya. But I need to find fun things to do with her *worriedworried.*

Okay, so Rookies - I would watch the occasional episode here and there - sports shows really aren't my thing. But the publicity really caught my attention, all the different interviews and talk shows the entire team and various members thereof have been on. I love the chemistry the entire cast has, how friendly and real they are, and I love seeing Shirota as part of a Team again when I thought after he graduated from Tenimyu I never would. So I torrented it and am giving it another chance.
Wow, can I just say - Ichihara Hayato has grown up nicely. I remember that serious, dorky, slightly boring kid from Waterboys 2 and now. He has the loveliest husky voice, I could listen to it all day. I even like when he grows "Baga!" at people, which is fortunate since it happens about thirty times in every episode. And that little silent laugh that sort of bubbles out of him like he can't quite control it. (And I know Aniya is a last name but it just makes me think "girly!" every time.)
Also, I love Sato Ryuta's smile so much! It never gets old, it's so big and real and happy.
And I really like everyone's hair <3
(I probably said all of that the first time I watched it but my memory sucks.)

SPEAKING OF MEMORY FAIL: I made a relationship chart for Iljimae because I was sooo confused. SPOILERS, maybe up to episode twelve.

[i]lifewithlogan: OK, things are quieting down a little now ....

The dogs have stopped barking, for the moment, although I know I will need to keep walking them again regularly throughout this 24 hours. Dogs must have attention! Now I should be able to grab a few minutes to drink some coffee (and flavored water) and to eat a little bit of yogurt.

Uh-oh, I spoke (wrote) too soon, they're barking again.

[i]fandom_me:

PTSD is one of those disorders that people like to use in fic and, to a lesser degree, in meta. I suppose that it makes people feel like they're making a character sympathetic, using it to explain violent outbursts, or to set the character up for being healed by magic-butt-sex.

Until very recently this didn't bother me much. Now it does )

[i]glazzal: materialism

July 2008. Contemplating furniture purchase that I can't really afford. The topic reappears every couple of years. Should I, or should I not?

It was a good shopping expedition, although all I have to show for it is a measly pillow.

[i]bureburehyatt: I--am--a su-per-star with a big, big house and a big, big car~

I felt pretty fucking shitty this morning, for reasons I'm not going to specify. But then I made pancakes, so I feel much better. <3

I should really get some sleep. I got to bed around 3:00 last night and woke up around 5:50 this morning, then had to feed dogs and do other assorted unpleasant chores. Oh, and as I for whatever reason had the brilliant idea of standing around in my kitchen frying onion rings at one o'clock in the morning to cope with the fact that my fiancee can be an overwhelmingly heartless idiot sometimes, I also woke up with a nasty stomachache. Fabfab. Unfortunately, no rest for the weary--naps are pretty much forbidden whenever Butch and I are home alone together. ._. Ah well. Maybe after he leaves for the races.

Until then, I'm spending quality time with my good friend StumbleUpon. I love this thing so much--I've found so many awesome wedding blogs that I never would've looked at before, and gotten so many good ideas for the ceremony. Granted, it's probably a bit too early to do anything more than the basic planning (ARGH SEPTEMBER 2010 HURRY THE FUCK UP), but it's fun to plan things. I found a nice 16-month planner that I'm planning on using, once I trim it down to make sure it only has the stuff we really need. I've even started looking at dresses~! Uwah, I'm so excited.

I really, really, really need to sit down with the waifu and start talking about the budget. We're already putting money away for moving to Illinois, but we haven't really talked much about the money for the wedding beforehand. D: I hope we can work it all out in the end. And at least get SOME honeymoon, even if it isn't the big one. I don't want to be like my mother and end up spending a day or two in a crappy hotel in Williamsburg for mine. D:

Whoo, babbling. But yeah, I think that's it for now. Bye bye, darlings~~~

[i]jen176: Two days of awesomeness

Thursday:met up with Cat in the afternoon, and watched the 1960's movie to the live action Batman TV series, which hilarious. Then her dad drove up to Wolftrap where we watch the NSO perform I'm Not the Messiah, a musical adaptation of Monty Python's Life of Brian, and Eric Iddel was there preforming. It was awesome and funny.

Friday: Watched the documentry Dangerous Days, about the making of the movie Blade Runner, was very interesting. Also watched the first half of the season finale of Doctor Who's 4th season, awesome.
