About Us
This is a community dedicated to writers and readers who enjoy things a bit outside the box. Fanon (conventions in fandom made popular by its fans) is frequently dismissed as inferior to those fanworks that adhere strictly to canon. We are here to say that fanon is just as valid, creative, and no less important, no matter what the naysayers claim.
Having said that, we welcome Spike/Buffy fiction OF ALL TYPES AND GENRES. Yes, we do have an emphasis in fanon works, but we are not exclusive, as canon/fanon walks a fine line that can cross over quite easily. You write strictly canon? You can post it here. We're not going to exclude anyone because of their preferences - we simply want the community to be open and welcoming, and its writers to feel comfortable submitting any sort of fiction.

Rules
• You must be a member to view the content of this community. This is for the protection of authors who may not want their work publicly available.
• This is a Spike/Buffy community. We're here because of a mutual love of the pairing, so we expect all submissions to include Spike and Buffy in some manner. However, it is not necessary that they be the centric characters. They can be in the background if it suits your story, but please keep in mind the nature of the community.
• All entries are subject to approval by the mods. This is a precaution we find necessary to ensure all submissions are genuine. We don't want any "mock" fanon tributes.
• Flaming is prohibited; however, CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM is welcome. If the distinction between these two is unclear to you, please refer to this example.
• Please label each chapter of each entry with the appropriate warnings, including ratings, disclaimers, any possible spoilers, genres, taboo themes, and ALL PAIRINGS.
• All work - fiction/art/media - MUST BE YOUR OWN. If it is discovered you plagiarized or stole someone else's work, you will be banned from the community and reported tostop_plagiarism. Plagiarism in written form covers a wide variety of artistic theft, including but not limited to stealing lines, paragraphs, whole chapters, and, of course, stories from preexisting work. We're all old enough to know this is unacceptable. If you plagiarize, you will be banned and reported. It's as simple as that. Don't do it.
• All fiction entries must be placed behind an LJ cut.
• All art entries must be placed behind an LJ cut with the exception of thumbnails and/or up to five icons.
• The Golden Rule. Don’t do or say anything of which you wouldn’t like to be on the receiving end.

• Wonderful story with an interesting plot! I'm really digging it thus far. A word, though...you might want to consider a beta reader. There were some grammatical inconsistencies and punctuation errors that a beta could really help you identify. I'd really hate to see people turned off by your wonderful premise due to some easily correctable mistakes.

Other Noteworthy Remarks
If you have ever been nervous to write or post a story because of fear of how it will be received, this is the community for you. However, please bear in mind that my kink isn’t going to necessarily be your kink, and vice versa. Ms. X might love claiming fics while Ms. Y has a liking for sire/childe lore. That does not mean Ms. X is wrong, just that she has different taste. If your story doesn’t receive a satisfactory response, please do not be disheartened. This is a community for growth, and every story, regardless of reviews, will have a reader. We know you’re putting yourself on the line by trusting us with your work, and we promise you will find no audience more understanding to how terrifying that can be.
Also, while we are not an archive and will not dismiss submissions on grounds such as grammar and syntax, we do recognize that error-free stories are likely to garner more attention. If you would like a beta (or editor), there are many communities that have lists of people willing to beta available to you.

Fanon Challenges
Every month we will have a challenge based on a specific fanon convention. Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to gift our lovely community with a submission inspired by the prompt of your choice. The prompts are just to get the muse's attention; if you have an idea INSPIRED by a prompt (and in the same vein as the challenge) that doesn't necessarily answer any of the proffered prompts, we're cool with that.
Challenge responses can be of any length, but will be divided into categories when needed. Categories will consist of drabbles (200 words or shorter), short stories (5000 words or shorter), and long stories (5000+ words).
