Hi everyone! Fang Fetish Awards is now open for nominations. Sorry for the lateness, but RL got in the way all day long.

This post will have locked comments in order to keep all nominations private. Due to locking comments I will be unable to reply back, because it would unlock that nomination for all to see. I will update nominations once a week on a new post I’ll make a week from today w/the first noms. Here is the list of CATEGORIES and the RULES to help with nominating. The dates for this round are as follows.

This is just a quick reminder about the poll for the special category that will change every round. This category will be decided by all of you (fandom at large), so it’s important for those who haven’t voted to go vote before the poll is closed. I will be closing it out this Sunday, June 21st, because I need to post the categories and dates by Monday, June 22nd.

It’s time for everyone to vote and let us know which one of these categories you would like to see in Round 11! Every round we will have this special category that you, the public/nominators, choose. Which of these do you want? Which do you think will give us the most interesting fictions to read? Remember, we will need nominations for this category, so pick one you think would be the most exciting/fun, able to fill with nominations, and you could possibly nominate a fic for when nominations open in a few weeks.

What category would you like to see in Round 11 at Fang Fetish Awards?

Fang Fetish is undergoing some changes for the time being. Steph (athenewolfe), my co-owner, is unable to take part in fandom right now. She has been given a huge opportunity come fall and has worked diligently to finish her Phd and be ready to move back to the states, find a place to live, and begin a new, exciting job. Of course this means no time for anything else.

To keep Fang Fetish alive, because neither Steph nor I am ready to let our baby go, we’ve decided I will run the award site for the Fang Fetish live journal, fangfetish, and have drastically cut back on our categories. We had tried to do a minor cut back last round while we thought she’d still be able to work on it, but even then we had 39 categories and when we were both hit with RL issues at the same time, we were unable to keep up with it.

We have always been proud that we had one of the largest, judged award sites w/many diverse categories to encompass all parts of the fandom, and that we always announced on time. This last round we failed miserably at announcing on time, and personally, I do not want to see that happen ever again.

Fang Fetish Awards was created in 2005 and we have always striven to be the most unbiased and diverse award site we could be, with the exception of all human fic that is. For us, a true award site is not about our favorite pairing/character/fic type or author. It’s always been about giving someone who has written something wonderful a bow, our thanks, and a custom pretty for the time, effort, and heart they put into their work and share freely w/the world.

I’m sorry for rambling, but going through these changes I’ve thought a great deal about Fang Fetish and what it has meant to us. I’ll get to the point now.

There will be a total of 21 categories, plus judge/mod’s choice. Nineteen of those categories will be fic, we will have one art category, and of course best author. We have changed the limit of fics that can be nommed per category to 12 and must have 5 for a category to be judged. We still have the All/No Pairing Section, Spuffy Section, and Vampiric Non-Spuffy Section, albeit with a slight trim down, but the Character/Type Corner is gone until we have time for more categories. We will be doing everything from fangfetish and so far I’ve been able to put up the rules on our user info page here: http://community.livejournal.com/fangfetish/profile

We will also change all links in our side bar on the LJ for all of you to be able to get to the rules, categories, and the nomination post as soon as we open for nominations in the upcoming weeks.

I will be posting a poll some time in the next week for the public to vote on a special category that will change every round in the All Pairing Section. I’ll pimp in different comms when I put up the poll and everyone should come by and vote for your favorite category suggestion! If you have not joined, or do not watch the Fang Fetish LJ, now would be a good time since that is where you all will be nominating fic and finding all relevant information and award posts.

These last few posts conclude Round 10, but some time in the next week I have some important announcements to make about changes we are implementing at Fang Fetish Awards here.

Finally, we got our act together and have the results for the first two sections, Spuffy and All Pairing, with a few extra awards for the art and fic challenges of the Fang Fetish Awards! The last two sections, Rare Pairings Corner and Vampiric Non-Spuffy, as well as the Judge’s and Mod’s Choice awards will be announced on May 31st, so don’t forget to check back then for those!
