Steve Green (stevegreen) won on the first round with an absolute
majority of the first-place preference votes cast and is declared the
winner. Steve will travel to Anticipation, the Worldcon in Montréal,
in August, and is planning the rest of his itinerary.

    Congratulations Steve, and commiserations Tom.

With more than 50% of the first preference votes, the GUFF administrators are happy to announce that barring force majeure Sue Ann Barber and Trevor Clark will attend Eastercon LX.

The administrators thank all the candidates, their nominators, and more than 100 members of the various fannish communities, for participating, and in the process raising around AUD1400.

It is possible that some of the regional attributions may be incorrect, and one or two votes may have been mislaid. Revised numbers may be published at a later date. Nonetheless, the administrators are confident that the decision of the voting populace is clear. In keeping with the traditions of the race, a list of voters names will be published in a paper fanzine... although obviously not how their votes were directed.

Voting closes on the 24th November so you've less than two weeks left to vote and choose which antipodean you'd like to meet at Eastercon LX next year.

Because of David Tennant's Hamlet I'll not be at Novacon but there will be ballots there. Alternatively you can download a voting form from here as well as a list of candidates:

    http://www.users.on.net/~juliettewoods/ballot2008.pdf

Remember that if you are a nominator you are eligible to vote and if you have been active in fandom since June 2006 you are eligible to vote. From European fans all we need is a minimum donation of a fiver made payable to me (Angela Rosin) or sent via paypal to Damien:

    http://www.users.on.net/~juliettewoods/guff2008.html

    Please help if you can.

    Money for filkers
The UK Filk Convention Management Fund[1] (FCMF) committee have decided that
it would be a good idea if some of the upcoming talented European Filkers
were able to come to the British Filk Convention so that they could benefit
from exposure to the wider circle of filkers present at the UK con and also
for UK filk fandom to get to meet some of the newer talent coming out of Europe.

To make this possible The FCMF and the League of Fan Funds have got together
and decided to offer a grant/bursary to one or two such "Footloose Filkers"
as such are identified and decided upon by the FCMF committee. The grant is
intended to cover the cost of travel to the convention and the majority of
the accommodation costs. Next years convention organising committee have
also allocated a free membership and a short performance spot as part of the
    award.

Footloose Filkers will *not* be guests of the convention, rather they
will be there to learn more about filking and to gain experience in a
convention environment that is different from their home convention.

For the 20th British Filk Convention (2T0nic) to be held in Grantham from
February 1st to 3rd 2008 we are pleased to announce that Steffi Zurek has
been invited to be our first "Footloose Filker".

Steffi is from Essen in Germany, in her mid-twenties, and is currently
studying for an MA degree in British & German studies. For fun she enjoys
music (!) and writing and also loves books, movies, drawing and taking pictures.

We hope you will enjoy meeting and listening to her and we look forward to
    seeing Steffi at 2T0nic.

    The FCMF Committee
Lissa Allcock, Colin Tuckley, Annie Walker and Teddy

[1] For those unfamiliar with the FCMF this came into being this year when
the accounts of Obliter-8, Didgeri-Douze and Decadence were rolled up into a
single account. It is open to contributions from any convention which has
funds left over after the con ends and one person from any convention so
contributing can join the FCMF committee which decides on uses to which the
fund will be put. This is drawn more widely than the Filk Fund and the
monies can be used for anything of benefit to UK filk fandom.
