This community is for users of Fan Forum, an entertainment news and celebrity discussion board. This is the place for users to share news about Fan Forum, to promote certain boards or threads, to bring together Fan Forumers through their ljs and to introduce people to Fan Forum. This is also a place for discussing forum issues, including suggestions for new boards and customisation, and for discussing our Fan Forum experiences.

This community is not for discussing celebrities and entertainment. Please, please keep all such discussion on Fan Forum itself.

Fan Forum started in November of 1998 as an alternative to corporate celebrity sites that were springing up all over the Internet. It was unique and novel at the time in the notion that it would be a fan site run by “real fans” that actually cared about the subjects they were discussing. The community grew from a few hundred members on a shared server which cost less than $100 per month to a massive interconnected and global community with over 121,000 registered members. Here, the fans of all entertainment genres can come together and find like minded people who share their passions. Members of the Fan Forum community have made a difference in the outside “non-net world” as well. Just ask any network executive who has tried to cancel one of the shows featured here about the dedication of the Fan Forum based fans.

Before the advent of the Internet the fan scene was very different. A would be fan might have written a letter to an actor, hoping one day to receive a pre-stamped autograph in return, or perhaps joined a fan club and became privy to exclusive offers and merchandise that cost a small fortune. But things are much different now. Thanks to the power of the Internet, and the creativity of those who use it, today's fans have the endless opportunities to express their enthusiasm and pledge their allegiance. Sometimes they even have the opportunity to interact with their favorite celebrities and with the writers, producers and other people who create the entertainment that they enjoy.

Fan Forum has become a very unique web site due to the hard work of many people and the personal touches that each of them has contributed to the website. Every fan that has visited the website has been offered the chance to add a little bit of themselves to the growing community.

Fan Forum’s community based formula and the very idea of a fan run fan network has often been copied, but never quite repeated.
