Out of character... really doesn't begin to cover it...
Hey, some portions of Batfandom. You know Catwoman, that person you write a lot of fics about? Yes, she's technically a part of Batman's rogue gallery, but she's more of an antihero than a real villain. These days, she's practically Robin Hood. And by at least one origin that's pretty canon as far as these things go in the DCU, she was a sex worker until she was raped.

Hence, not a big fan of rape or prostitution.

So your magnum opus about Catwoman raping and whoring out [insert sexualized superheroine here]? That's just not how she rolls. In fact, Batman would probably tongue-kiss the Joker before that happened. Would Catwoman steal Barbara Gordon's jewelry? Yes. Her innocence? Not so much, no.

Regardless if the author considers her background as a sex worker canon or not, it's still completely OOC for her to rape someone. God, has the author even read the comics? Not even the Catwoman series, but just Batman? Or any other book she's appeared in recent years?

Actually, forget recent years. IIRC, she's never been portrayed as an outright, belonging-in-Arkham, insane villain like the Joker or Two-Face or any of the other villains. She's a thief, nothing more sinister.

*sigh* The author is an idiot.

Or even the cheesy 1960's TV show?

Or even caught a single Catwoman-related episode of the cartoon?

I am disappointed that I continue to have reason to say this, but:

Stop turning likable characters into rapists!

Sounds like your average fanboy (or fangirl, I suppose) wank fantasy. Those are never connected to canon.

While I'd be happy to disregard Frank "Whore, Whores, Whores," Miller's fixation on making every female character he can get near involved in the sex trade, and the "Catwoman was a prostitute," story he made, raping and whoring out other women doesn't seem remotely like her.

Word and word. (Really, Mr Miller--stop it with the WHORESWHORESWHORES thing. Also, the Spirit is not Batman, and he shouldn't remind me of Batman in the trailer for the upcoming movie.) I personally think Catwoman, regardless of whether she ever worked in the sex trade or not, is just too classy for raping and whoring out other women.

Y'know, most characters end up being written as rapists at one point or another (not that it makes it okay), and I'm not even that familar with Catwoman at all, but this still strikes me as fifty shades of wrong for someone to write her doing that.

I... buh.

BUH.

How does that even work? "Oh, I steal diamonds, cat-related objects, and YOUR VIRGINITY!"

I feel like raping someone, to her, would be categorically admitting that she couldn't get them to want to have sex with her any other way. Hence why she hasn't had her wicked way with Batman in the twenty years she's been tying him up with her whip. And raping someone to punish them? I don't think most women even think that way. If she wanted to get back at Barbara enough, couldn't she just push her down some stairs? It worked for Xavier.
