Another Lovecraft rant
Dear Whosis,
Loki could not kill Cthulhu.

At least the title of your Web page was honest.

Thank you,
Dioschorium

Well ... according to the RPG, Cthulhu is totally killable. He just doesn't stay dead and comes back to life about three minutes after he dies.

The story is still fail though. Nobody beats Cthulhu. We can only postpone the end for a little while.

I like to think they just fought him to a standstill, myself- and I'm a major GB fan.

On the other hand, in the original Call of Cthulhu novella, Big C was temporarily incapacitated by being hit in the head with a boat. Not even a magic boat or a nuclear sub- just a fishing boat. So, yeah, four guys with proton packs, a roller coaster, and electrical storm conditions could pull it off.

Well yes, but he'd come back and stomp all over them ... I figure he just got bored and moved on somewhere else. Either that or they were taking on a Star Spawn with delusions of grandeur.

I know about a teaspoon of the myth surrounding Loki, but didn't at one point he become a she and have a child?

Loki/Cthulhu? OP'THARGHEN?

Norse mythologuy is awesomely messed up.

As a horse, no less! Basically it involved Loki seducing away a giant's horse so that he couldn't finish the wall around Asgard and claim Freya as his wife. This lovely union resulted in Odin's eight legged horse.

Loki's logic is...special. Special and then increasingly batshit until it reaches an epic crescendo.

In conclusion - he'd totally bottom.

I totally wrote that! \:D/

And you're right; it was done as a deliberate crackfic challenge (and stated as such; I believe the warning is that no-one should read it, ever). But Cthulhu alas can't win in this case because the Loki-character is an OC from a continuing series. So I can't kill him off because he's needed in the next book. More's the pity.

You shouldn't do silly things because your plot demands them, usually. In crackfic, okay, but that's not generally a good idea.

Couldn't Loki have just escaped somehow? You know, he who fights and runs away lives to fight another day.
