Dead leaves crunched under a figure's feet as he walked through the forest outside the farm house, the brown leaves littered the forest floor, making the trees look bare and old. He frowned as he got to the tallest tree in the forest, an old oak tree that had to be several hundred years old. He fingered the carvings in the brown bark, the initials of a name in a heart, a date, and then another date... his fingers paused over that second date and he smiled sadly. He remembered that day; it had been the day they first met, after all. The figure sighed heavily as he pulled out a small switch blade and began to carve into the brown bark, murmuring apologies to the old tree.

Hell, he didn't even own white underwear! But this was important. The music started up, and he watched Raphael walk down the aisle towards him, Splinter by his side. Neither really wanted to do something like this, but Michaelangelo had insisted, and then April joined in, as well as Leonardo and Master Splinter, and the Donatello had started talking about proper rings and Raphael and Casey ended up agreeing to do a small ceremony just to get them to shut up, so Casey had to suffer through wearing white, but nothing could wipe the smile off his face about it.

Besides, Raph was the one who had to wear the dress.

It had hurt, hurt more than anything, when Casey's mother's first reaction to finding out about Raphael had been to scream at her son, calling him a freak and claiming that she no longer had a son. He had returned to the lair, stunned and in shock, and was instantly lead to the couch and wrapped in a blanket, he lover tucked against his side and his lover's father pressing a mug of tea into his hands. He stayed with his lover for a few days, just basking in the love and warmth his family, his family, gave so willingly to him before be spoke to his mother again, accepting her apology and invitation to dinner with a grin and a hug.

She would always be his mother, but Raphael and the others? They were his family.
