Allrighty. I'm not sure what to do with this community any longer.
I've been pre-occupied, spending my time on other fannish things, and that's not really fair to those of you here who'd like to write something. To be fair to me though, when I did issue the last challenge, several people signed up and only one person (yay elvisneedsboats!) actually contributed.
What do we want to do with this community? I'm open for suggestions. Like--do we want to have a guest moderator every month to issue a challenge of their choosing, and then I archive it all?
One thing I was thinking we could *possibly* do is like a fannish exchange program. Sometimes people get interested in a new fandom, but don't know where to look for things, and don't feel like really poking around? Well, every month we could have a guest fandom, with a guest pimper familiar with the fandom, and then we can ask every question we're remotely interested in.
*shrugs* Just throwing that out there!
Or is there someone out there full of zest and good ideas who'd like to first, share them with me, and then if I think it has potential, I'd just turn the comm over to you? I'd still be willing to handle website type things if you wish.
I don't know, again. I'm at a loss, so any suggestions would be helpful. I'm basically just looking for something different to do with fandompoolside, or to turn it over with someone full of sparkle. :) |

In keeping with the grand tradition of fandompoolside, the Song Challenge is extended through Friday. You can post your submissions to the comm, or link to them, anytime this week.
hyperfocused, I never got an e-mail from LJ for your comment. Are you still interested in playing? I can send your song straight away. |

Well. The poll for 'hey, what should our next challenge be' was up on time. Then a few months passed. And now here we are and someone else issued a First Time challenge a week or so ago, so we'll wait a few months before we come back to that! *g*
The co-writing challenge was second highest in votes, and we'll do that later this year as well, when I can think of the best way to structure it. For now, let's get a challenge going at least!
fandompoolside's Song Lyrics Challenge!
Rules
1. Any fandom, any pairing. 2. Minimum length--600 words. 3. Stories due in two weeks, by May 6th. They can be posted to the community/linked to the comm from your journal whenever you're finished. 4. Stories will be uploaded to the archive unless you say otherwise. 5. You may sign-up at any time and you'll get your assignment within 24 hours, due date won't change though.
To sign up, comment with your email address and the fandom you believe you'll be writing in. (If you decide to write somewhere differently, no problem.) Additionally, if you'd like for me to assign you a song *and* send it to you through a yousendit link, I can do that if you let me know.
I'll assign you anywhere from 2 to 10 lines of a song, and you must write your story having something to do with the mood/theme/words of that song. This is *not* a songfic challenge (unless you figure out a way to do that, go for it.)Current Mood: good

Since it's been a few months of hiatus here, I figure we're all rested up and ready for another bi-weekly challenge. *grins* So, a few random ideas to bounce off you here, please offer your thoughts?
Thanks!
Poll #412035 Challenge?

Title: Another Place And Time Fandom: Spiderman The Movie (the first one) Pairing: Peter Parker/Norman Osborn Author: Joanne Collins Spoilers: none beyond generalities of the movieverse. Rating: NC-17 Notes: The story is now officially AU if it was ever anything else. Peter is still Spider-Man, but Norman did not swallow the serum and is neither insane, nor the Green Goblin. Yes, it's a cop out, but I don't have weeks to write all the Goblin stuff into the plot (what there is of it). I am endeavouring to keep Norman IC with this exception, though. Two votes last time, both for Option C: Harry gets a call, things don't get resolved, but it's pretty clear things will be okay with time.
And it seems the smut fairy paid me a visit. This gets rather porny. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
"Harry, you need time. *We* needed time to adjust to our feelings, it's no surprise that you do too," Norman put his hand on Harry's, and gave Peter a quick, pleased look when Harry didn't move away.
"I...guess," Harry said.
"So, what do we do now?" Peter asked. ( Read more... )

Title: There's Your Trouble Fandom: Smallville Pairing: Clark/Whitney, at this point, is inevitable in some form. Author: Joanne Collins Spoilers: Slight ones for Hug Rating: NC-17 Notes: Started life as a missing scene challenge to the ep Hug.
I only had one vote last time, for option c: Lana tells them to explore their feelings, see if it's more. She leaves them alone and it turns out that their feelings for each other are deeper than their feelings for her, but they will let her down gently.
More implied than explicit, but it felt right to end where it did.
"Is there anyone you like that way?" Lana asked. "Who you might not be too young for?"
"Well..." Clark prevaricated. He wasn't sure what to say. ( Read more... )

| » And again. |
Since most everyone and their cat has requested an extension, consider this your formal notice that the challenge is, well, extended. I'll be uploading stories to the challenge archive page and when I'm close to getting done, I'll put something up in the community to say when you should have your stories in. I hope that works out for everyone.
If you met the challenge deadline, much extra applause for you!
I was going to issue another challenge last Monday when I realized another community was already doing it. If you have a suggestion for a challenge you'd really like to see, please feel free to let me know. Otherwise, I'll come up with something else, hopefully very cool. *g*
And I still have a couple more gmail codes up for grabs if anyone needs them. ;)
...I think that's it.
OH. Author biographies. I still want them. Scroll back a few posts if you don't know what I'm talking about, please.
...yes, that's really it.

Title: This One Before 3/? Fandom: SV Author: Madelyn Spoilers: None. AU. Rating: G, at this point. Notes: Written for the fandompoolside “Choose Your Own Adventure” challenge, and depending on how the story goes, it will possibly turn out to be carlanesses’ long awaited fic. We shall see. *g* Once again, polling is valid until I edit the post to reflect otherwise.
Last go around, it was extremely close between 'B' and 'C'. C won, but many of you tried to vote for both. It doesn't work that way, people, but it was cute that you tried.
ETA: Voting closed, A won. *g*

| » Challenge extended. Don't act surprised or anything. |
So, technically, stories are all due today, ready for final archiving. But I don't think I've kept the deadline for the last two challenges, and I figure, why break the streak now?
Stories for the Choose Your Own Adventure Challenge should be posted to the community in final format, ready for archiving by--let's say Friday, and now, I'm the most un-offical community mod ever, aren't I?
Please format your final stories with asterisks to designate what part you posed your question at, and then at the end, post all of the potential choices so that the reader can follow the path of your story. Call it Choice A, Path A, whatever you like, so long as it's in there and the reader can see where it could've gone differently. No need to include actual vote counts or anything like that.
For example:
story story story story (*Choice A*).
story story story story (*Choice B*).
End notes:
Choice A: 1. choice 2. choice 3. choice
Choice B: 1. choice 2. choice 3. choice
And that's really all there is to it.
New challenge will be posted on Monday.
Also, I still want your bios. I have bios from sageness, tamalinn, and I'm writing ones for cjandre and myself.
Come on. You know you want to! Or, at least, I'm hoping you want to.
ETA: Also, I have four gmail invites. I've sent tons to the military, they keep sending me more. If you want one, reply here with your e-mail addy and I'll send it off. Consider this a little celebration for the fact we have so many new community members! Yay!
