Mod Note

As we no longer do activity checks we would really appreciate it if you'd give us a head's up when you decide to leave the community. The chances that the mods will catch it when you do it is pretty slim to none as we don't get notifications when someone removes themselves. It takes just a second to let us know, and it's highly appreciated.

You can either email us at fm.mods@gmail.com , pm the mod journal or comment here where the comments are screened. Thank you.

MOD Note

The mods have decided to take the month of February off from posting topics to the community. We have been working non-stop in one community or another posting new topics bi-weekly or monthly (depending on the community) for three years, and we're feeling a little burned out. This is our first hiatus, and it's to give us a chance to recharge our creativity. Old topics are always available to be used, and without activity checks being in place we figured this shouldn't put anyone out. Thank you, all of you, for your participation in this community. You guys are the reason we have been inspired to post new writing topics, and we're looking forward to coming back to you in March. See you then.

It's a new year, and with it the mods have decided to start a new policy regarding activity at the community. There will no longer be activity checks. Write when you want, as much or as little as you are inspired, and rest assured as long as you want to be a member of this community, your place is guaranteed here.

December Activity Checks!

With the busy holiday season just now ending and the community coming off of a two month hiatus with no activity checks, the mods have decided to perform the check for December on Monday, January 4th, noon EST. This coming up weekend is the first free weekend that many have had since the holidays have started and we wanted to give everyone a good chance to get caught up and also to remind you about getting something posted since it's been a while since we have done any activity checks.

Monday, January 5th at noon EST, we will be doing a full clean-up of all muses that have not posted and commented to posts for the months of November or December. In order to still be considered current, you will need to have commented to the November or December topic post with your topic response or completed RP thread.

The topics for January will most likely go up sometime tonight or early tomorrow.

Thanks so much for writing with us and have a Happy New Year!!

November topics

We're posting November's topics early for anyone who wants to get a jump on their muse topics since Nanowrimo is just around the corner. Your mods will be participating in Nano this month, and after discussion have decided that there will be no activity check for the months of OCTOBER and NOVEMBER. This is so that no writer feels the need to have to take a hiatus for the purpose of nano. Our hiatus policy has always stated that if you're on hiatus you can not rp during that time. Nano can be very stressful and sometimes you want to just blow off steam with a random topic or rp, and this way everyone can feel free to do that without the pressure of activity checks looming over them. If you're not participating in Nano you can consider this a freebie month anyway.

The next activity check will be on JANUARY 1st. If you have not completed a topic in November or December you will be removed. That basically means that if you are a member now you have from now until December 31st to have one topic completed. We will resume our regular scheduled activity checks beginning January 1st.

There will be an activity check on October 1st. If you have not completed a topic for your muse in August or September you need to do so before October 1st. There will be an activity check on November 1st. If you have not completed a topic or rp for your muse for September or October then you need to do so before November 1st. Our suggestion is if you haven't posted for August that you put your activity links in the September post. As always any topic can be used for any month's activity. Anyone who has topics or rp links in September/October posts will be covered until the January 1st activity check.

Quotes:

"People have odd reasons for ending up saints. A man who was not afflicted with ambitions of decency in his mind might simply have run away with his hero's wife, and then perhaps the tragedy of Arthur would never have happened. An ordinary fellow, who did not spend half his life torturing himself by trying to discover what was right so as to conquer his inclination towards what was wrong, might have cut the knot which brought their ruin." -From The Once and Future King, T.H. White

"It is so fatally easy to make young children believe that they are horrible." -From The Once and Future King, T.H. White:

"One explanation of Guenever, for what it is worth, is that she was what they used to call a "real" person. She was not the kind of person who can be fitted away safely under some label or other, as "loyal" or "disloyal" or "self-sacrificing" or "jealous". Sometimes she was loyal and sometimes she was disloyal. She behaved like herself. And there must have been something in this self, some sincerity of heart, or she would not have held two people like Arthur and Lancelot. Like likes like, they say – and at the least they are certain that her men were generous. She must have been generous too. It is difficult to write about a real person." -From The Once and Future King, T.H. White

Activity check notice: PLEASE READ

Okay on the 1st was supposed to be our first activity check since we changed the rules to every two months participation and allowing completed rp threads to count for activity. Us mods have always worked on a 'what's fair for us is fair for everyone' policy. I have been very sick and struggling with weather related issues for most of this month. Which has put several members in a position of waiting for me to finish threads so they could count toward activity. As there is no way that I'm going to be able to finish those in time I've spoken with the co-mods about extending this month's activity check. There are a few members who haven't gotten their prompts done yet, and we totally understand. After all, hi, I'm behind too. Add in the fact this is the first month of our new policy and things are a bit confusing to get used too.

So! What this means is that the activity check for August will be on September 15th! If you have not posted since June, then you have until the 15th of September to finish up those rp threads or post a topic. Make sure you post it in AUGUST'S post, not September's because that is the month you need to post for. On October 1st we will go back to the monthly checks. That means if you have not posted since July you have until October 1st to post in September's post. We want to thank all of you for being such awesome members, and we're looking forward to seeing your prompts and threading with you.

Ashy on behalf of the FM mods.

August topics with an important rule change announcement

IT IS IMPORTANT YOU READ THE FOLLOWING:

The mods of [info]fandom_muses have discussed ways to make writing more enjoyable at this community. We have decided to change a couple of the rules that we feel will benefit and inspire our members. Effective this month (July since we're posting early) the following rule changes have been made:

1. The activity requirement for [info]fandom_muses is now every two months rather than every month. If you have not written a topic for July and choose not to write one for July you have until the first of September to submit a topic. If you have submitted a topic for July you have until the first of October to submit your next topic.

2. Roleplay will now be counted toward activity. If you complete an rp thread between two or more muses each muse can use this toward the activity requirement. We will only be counting completed rp threads so let's go by the honor system here okay? All you have to do is comment in the monthly topic post with the link of the completed thread. Each muse who wishes to use that thread may comment with the link.

We hope that you find these changes fun and creatively inspirational. It really is a pleasure to have each and every one of you as a member of this comm. The mods look forward to continuing writing with each of you.

Important Announcement!!!!! Please read!!!!!!

Dear All,

As most of you know, SUP/Livejournal Inc. has made some interesting new changes regarding both services offered to future potential customers and the treatment of it's existing customers. This post reflects all of those changes. However, I am not here to talk about them directly. Your opinions on LJ and SUP are not really why I am writing this. In other words, please do not start an argument re: livejournal in comments or I will track you down, and beat you. ;)

Nobody likes a vague disclaimer.

That being said, please don't think we haven't heard you. We designed a poll asking you, our writers what you would like to see happen to the community. Would you like to move to Insane Journal? Would you like to stay here at Live Journal? The majority of you wanted to stay. We heard you loud and clear. Still, some of you wanted to go. We heard you too! So what are a few mods supposed to do with all of this info? That's easy, make two communities. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too?

Through our own discussions
http://asylums.insanejournal.com/fandom_muses/profile was born. Why not have a community on IJ for those who wish to move and a community on LJ for those who wish to stay? Why not offer twice the amount of topics for both communities? Why not offer people the chance to play at one or either place? Why not just affiliate like crazy???

I can't think of a good reason. Can you? (This is a rhetorical question FYI)

Here is how it's going to work.

[info]fandom_muses will stay exactly the same. Same mods, same great topics, same great writers. Our sister community on IJ will offer even more topics for you to choose from. Yes, both communities will be free to mix and match topics from either IJ or LJ each month. The sister community on IJ will offer a very similar community with three of your four mods presiding over it's operation.

What does this mean for YOU the writer? We've already covered the topics (of which you will now have TWICE the amount to choose from), now lets get to the good stuff. Who can come and play?

For the next two weeks you are automatically grandfathered in. You can choose to play at both or either comm. Maybe you're tired of LJ and you want to move to IJ. You are welcome to, and do not have to complete any application. Perhaps you want to play at both places? Again, totally welcome to with no application. Or maybe you don't care to play at IJ and in that case do nothing! Nothing will change for you.

Please note, this offer is ONLY good for the character you already play. Don't think that playing Peter Petrelli on LJ automatically makes you eligible to play Sylar on IJ. It doesn't.

The new community will open effective April 1st. However, before the opening occurs those who wish to play there should contact the proper authorties.
