| About: |  Welcome to Fanart-A-Day, a LiveJournal community where members may post fanart of their favorite characters! This community was created on February 8, 2007, by LJ users Junosama and Shax, who are the current admin. Joining Fanart-A-Day: The rules have now changed: Fanart-A-Day membership is by direct invitation only. Thank you for your understanding. We do this because we want to maintain a moderately sized community and to avoid any potential complications.  Let's face it - most of us just can't seem to find enough time or motivation to draw for ourselves. A lot of us work, or are going to school... time is precious. This community was founded with the high hopes of inspiring eachother to not only draw more often, but also get a chance to draw a variety of characters (and whatnot.) It is also meant to be challenging in the fact that it should give you incentive to actually MAKE time to draw for yourself. With that said - This community only thrives if all members make the effort to maintain the minimum post count. Think of the benefits of such a feat - we wouldn't have to post something everyday, but we'd have new artwork to look at everyday, since people post spontaneously! YAY FOR PRETTY FANART ALL THE TIME!! Other than the basic rules and the minimum post count, we want to make this a painless but motivating experience for its members.  1. MINIMUM / MAXIMUM POSTS Please limit your submission to one(1) per person, per day. Conversely, as we all can get very busy, you do not have to post everyday. However, in order to remain a member of this community, you must make one(1) post every two(2) weeks. Members who cannot or do not maintain the minimum amount of posts will lose posting privileges, but are welcome back any-time when they are ready to maintain these requirements. Just contact Shax or Juno if you have to retire, or if you want to return. (The idea, however, is that you stay committed!) 2. SUBJECT MATTER General Content: Other than the "fanart only" rule, there are no restrictions to subject matter - however, please be respectful to the public (ie images that have racial or otherwise prejudiced content.) Any images that prove to offend people in these ways will be removed. Otherwise, all other content is welcome, whether it be slash/yaoi, anthropomorphic, etc. "Fanart" is used flexibly - for example, you can post drawings of official characters from games/books/anime. A drawing of your best friend's original character can also be considered fanart. You also don't necessarily have to draw something everyday. If you have art from the past, they are legit to post in this community. However, we'd like to ask that you honor the main goals of this community and produce new art whenever possible, and not post something that you've posted many times elsewhere. Anything you post in Fanart-A-Day can be posted anywhere else you like (since obviously you own it :P) Mature Content: Mature content is welcome in Fanart-A-Day, at the individual artist's discretion. If you are posting something nude/graphic/violent/pornographic/etc, please make a WORK-SAFE thumbnail and link to your full image. Please also label your post with the proper "NOT WORK SAFE" warnings for those of us who like to browse Fanart-A-Day at work. (By graphic/violent/pornographic: if you're questioning on whether you should hide it or not... that probably means you should hide it :P) 3. IMAGE SIZES: Please keep all images smaller than 1000 x 1000 pixels - around 600-800 x 600-800 is probably ideal. If your image is some huge gorgeous painting that has much detail that you'd like to share, make a smaller image to post and link to the full-size one. :D 4. IMAGE QUALITY AND STAGES: There are no 'quality' restrictions on posts - you can post a 30-second doodle or a 3-hour painting, whatever you like. Different "stages" of illustrations are also welcome - for example, you can post a sketch one day, an inked version the next day, a colored version the day after, etc. As long as you don't post the same thing twice, and there is significant progress between stages, everything is game. 5. CREDITS AND COPYRIGHT: As this is a fanart-oriented community, please make sure you give the proper credits and copyrights on all submissions. It is recommended that you put the copyrights on the actual image as well as under the image, in text.  Whaaaaat is this new section?! Shaz and I decided to change things around a bit for 2008, and introduce some special events for FaD artists to participate in and enjoy! Birthday Requests Assuming that we remain a relatively maintainable size, we thought it'd be fun to try having Birthday Requests. For example: January's birthdays are Shaz and Juno; thus, Shaz and Juno get to list their top 3 favorite characters for other FaD artists to draw as their January submission. This is not mandatory, of course - any current members who are interested in partcipating are more than welcome, and anyone who isn't can continue to post spontaneously. Birthdates for the following month will be documented and listed at the end of the previous month; on the 1st of said month, the artists and their birthdays will be listed in a monthly Fanart-A-Day newsletter post. Secret Santa 2008 In November-December, we will start up a Secret Santa for our community! For those of you who don't know how that works: In late November, FaD artists who would like to participate will sign up to do so; we must have an even number of participants for this to work. Each artist will be given another artist to draw for; all participants will then make posts that list their requests. However, you are that artist's Secret Santa, so don't tell them who you are! Gift art should be delivered to your artist on Dec. 25 (unless otherwise specified.) If you need to relay a message to your artist, Shax and Juno can assist. While we are not going to be doing any kind of 'quality control,' we really do insist that you make a decent effort on your gift art. It's pretty disappointing to receive something shoddy after 2 months of waiting. o3o;; More information about Secret Santa to come when it gets closer! Thanks everyone!!
