Randomly Surprised [26 Jul 2008|11:22am]

chaste_aeon
Disclaimer: Some words may be inapproaite or used incorrectly. This is due to my imbibing a Cosmopolitan and an Absolute Black Currant mixed with Sprite, and the fact that my family (based on my ahya’s experience) gets sleepy when one drinks. Another thing, I woke up at 6 am, so really, I’m sleepy. I’m thinking that the reason I’m sleepy. Hopefully, that’s the reason.

Morning’s Learnings

It’s been such a long day filled with surprises.

Early in the morning I heard about MTR W/O MTR UR MTR. (Guess what that means!) Carl—or is it Carlo—swears that this is the most effective method for others to learn, because they learn something without the prior knowledge that they’re actually learning something.

An example he gave was ALICE. A software designed for kids that allowed them to create stories, only they just don’t create stories, they also learn Visual Basics and the like. Imagine, little girls and boys learning Visual Basic.

Head fake is another term he introduced to the lot of us, taking it from its American football context. *grins* Eyeshield 21 rocks. I knew what it meant in the football lingo.

All in all, I had fun. I got a lot of white-paper feedbacks, and met a lot of people. Thank God Jackie Kawsek and Dana were there to ease the process. So, there was Jauro, Julianne, Anton, Bea and Steph for the upperclass men who facilitated the whole event.

So, for anyone who’s interested in formation activities, who aspires to be the change, to be the start of change, or simply wants to discover what he can contribute to soceity by being a leader in his/her own way, then tell me because I’ll drag your arse to the next GA.

Seriously, something sticks more to our minds when we get amazed or surprised by something. Think.

Batman

I watched Batman. Again. And guess what? I found it as amazing as the first time I watched it. I gasped, still, at the same moments I did back then. I laughed at the same scenes. But more importantly, noticed the foreshadowing that was used for the traitor. I just feel bad for the P180 my mom paid. HUSH, please.

Shopping=Anti-Stress

You read that right. Since Friday night was a big stress night for me (good thing I was too numb and tired to react already and get emotional about it) where-in there were two different parts, I thought to de-stress myself by rewarding myself with spending my allowance. I bought a pink off-shoulder, and a maong skirt. Both were on sale, but I still spent about P1200 for everything.  *sniff* That made a dent, seriously. I am so poor.

Pre-Party

I got to spend an hour or two at home after buying dinner at McDo (mcFlurry, fries, taro pie) and Lumpia from DEC before proceeding to Metrowalk (sp? Is it one word or two word?) to check out the place for September.

Not what I expected, but, hey, who am I to talk? My ahya had a successful and a fun birthday there. I have no experience whatsoever with actually drinking with friends (except those two instances *sheepish smile*) hence I am quite at a loss on what to do and expect. Guitar Hero anyone? Sure ball na yun.  I only wish Ahya buys Rockband. Asa pa ako. *shrugs* But he said so... he might. *laughs* Right.

30-50 guests? Buffet?  Whatever. Not all mine, after all Andre has to invite five, but it would me mainly my party. Ahya and Achie Cel would have to invite their friends and stay outside the VIP room.

In the process, my ahya took it as his responsiblity to start doing something about my alchohol tolerance. As my first pre-party drink with him, he ordered a Cosmo. I didn’t liked it. Why? Because mine, they finally realized when they had a sip, was too strong. We ordered three, one for us each, and mine was the bottom part of the shaker. Diagnosis: It was shaked properly.

When we got home, we went straight to their unit, and they mixed Absolute Black Current (40%  alchohol) with Sprite and made me finish the glass. Ooh, I was able to finally taste Frostings. Yumm. Still, I liked Sonia’s Elvis better.

p.s. I was supposed to write something about relationships this week. Unfortunately, because of lack of time and my schedule being filled to the brim... Eck. Seriously. I’m not done with my Filipino paper for Tarong and my critical paper for English. In fact, I have yet to choose whether I shall write about cotraceptives (which I am for) or argue against “Scholarship in Ateneo being founded on Elitism”. Remember a post I did for the latter just this summer? Yes, that.

p.s.s Who can manage to get 2 upperbox A (or better) tickets for next Sunday’s game? UST/ADMU? XD

This is Granger logging off. *laughs* Paano kasi Harry Potter was brought up in one of our classes, and I suddenly remembered Awi/Monty. To Awi: Miss you, dear. Mickey: Ikaw rin. Hay.

Tough Times... And Life Goes On! (smile) [26 Jul 2008|01:50am]

Well, okay, keep the following in mind -- because we do!

When the going gets tough, the tough get going!

Things are hard right now -- and will probably get worse very soon. But we knew this was coming and we're ready to face it with our chins UP.

And I have to tell you, Marilyn [info]mistressmarilyn is especially good in 'crisis mode' -- so I know she'll be incredible, as always.

There are a lot of good people to worry about, though... People we both care about... (sigh)

But the thing is, life goes on. And there's a potential for growth and improvement. Change is a good thing, no matter what. And that's how I plan to look at it. (Hopefully others will do the same.) And meanwhile, I have website things to do for work. Plus I'd like to work on some of our personal domains/websites, too!

Oh! We lost the domain with our last name in it! I don't think I mentioned that before. We screwed up (well, I screwed up, to be exact) and missed seeing the renewal email. So now it's been bought by someone and it's far too much for us to purchase it back. We'll probably try for a new one to replace it. I'm annoyed that I didn't get to move all my uploaded files (sigh), but again, it's my own fault! You really have to keep on top of your domain renewals!!!

I should have learned that lesson with all the issues about the one domain I had to 'fix' for work this past year. It was a major pain in the ass, I have to tell you! But it finally worked out and was up and running when we needed it...

I'd love to find the time to do some non-work-related website coding, I have to admit. I've learned a lot about CSS (which you know I go on and on about), so I'd love to put that into effect somewhere besides the festival website. Maybe I'll find time over the weekend to give it a go!

Our friends Pat and Pat -- who live up the Columbia River Gorge -- are having their annual yard sale this weekend, so we really want to head up there. (Not sure which day, though.)

My friend June and her husband Jim went to Zimmerman House last weekend -- and didn't like it! I'm stunned, I have to tell you. I can't imagine not being impressed with that place. I guess I'm glad I didn't end up going along, because that would have been uncomfortable as hell...

You can never tell, I guess.

Marilyn and I want to go see "The Dark Knight" again (maybe this weekend?).

I cut down a slew of branches from our tree -- and after work yesterday (Thursday) I cut them into pieces and put them into our Yard Recycling Bin (which is very, very full now). I was glad to get that task done! (I do have more branches to cut, but this was the main area that needed work.) Mind that I did all this with very inadequate tools -- and a lot of willpower. (grin)

Bedtime!

Being nice. Apparently, it's a good thing?

So I'm extremely tired and am not going to update the comm till' tomorrow. Heh. But to make up for it, I bring a gift.

This video is so full of win.

1) I love when big fans get to meet them. She's almost crying. Yay for her! :)
2) They all look good. Nick looks exceptionally good and a bit pudgy, double yay! :D
3) They sounds fucking fantastic! Guh. Every time I hear them sing a capella, I get goosebumps over my entire body. When they blend like that it's uber hard to distinguish each of their voices, but that's probably a good thing. Although in this one, I can hear all of them for the most part. Ugh. His voice is so incredibly sexy.

I miss my whore. My hobiscuit. *sighs* And I can't have our threesome without her!

Honeydew Syndrome OMG it's so awesome! I'm truly impressed. And the postcards are to die for. I think I might frame them some day.

Check out the hot Asian model Missy and I had to take a picture of yesterday.

Yes, we're the epitome of dorkitude.

And for your final announcement: HOLY SHIT "THE VINTNER'S LUCK" IS BEING MADE INTO A MOVIE! Obviously, I'm insanely excited about this. I can't believe they dare, how freaking awesome. It's the same woman who made "Whale Rider," which I love and which has kind of the same atmosphere as "The Vintner's Luck," interestingly enough. Also, the guy cast as Xas looks excellent so far. \o/

YAY! All of my current Valenth adoptables have hatched and are in their Beta phase! :D The first four are in the 200's level-wise, so they still need about 300 feedings to reach Omega phase! *crosses fingers* I'm dying to see how Andúnë and Mëoi (Holy, Neutral, or Evil; the first two are rigged to turn out holy)! If I can get all my adoptables's levels to equal 5000, then I can adopt a Lapsworg, which turns into a wolf-like creature. Hopefully they'll still be around when I finally get there. They also released a Bloodhawk, (yes, it looks like a hawk), but I'm not as interested in that.

I LIVE!!!

Just thought I'd toss that out there.  It's been over two months since my last post and I have no excuse.  Well, yeah, I do have an excuse, just not sure how many people will buy "But I was playing Age of Conan!" as a valid excuse and all.  Plus I've been (slowly, damn AoC) reworking my website.  New host, new gallery, new file organization.

Anyways, I come bringing fanart/manga page colorings for Bleach.  Chapter 298, pages 15-16, Captains Kurotsuchi, Unohana and Kuchiki arrive in Hueco Mundo.  I started this back in April and only now just finished it.  Yeah.  I'm still blaming AoC for this one.  Just as I'm blaming AoC for that half-written AoC review I need to finish.  For a game that I have so many complaints about, I sure do play it alot...

Anyways, teaser image here:

New start [26 Jul 2008|12:37am]

[ music | Muse - Feeling Good ]

Most of you have probably noticed that I've been gone for ages from this blog -unlike my other one which is updated quite frequently. The truth is, this blog was associated with a period of my life that now belongs to my past and every time I read my posts it only brought back memories... and it was painful. VERY painful.

Many things have happened and I am not the same person I used to be. I hardly recognize myself anymore and I'm not sure I like what I had become... until yesterday. So yesterday... well, it was a very revelatory day... You see I've been too good with people who never deserved it and wrong with people who didn't deserve such treatment either. Fortunately, I finally opened my eyes to the truth and now it's time to set things right again.

So I deleted everything that reminded me of that period in my life. Here in LJ and everywhere else it was needed. But before I drew that huge "X" to the previous 3 years, I made sure I left a little something for those who needed a reminder of who I am and who they are in my other blog. I'm sorry, but not all of us are equal. And I'm glad I finally realized it and stopped caring about people who are not worth it.

My news then... I've been accepted in Sheffield for my MA, I've spent three months in another city living alone to work as a sales manager in our GANT store, which was quite the experience, believe me. A least for someone like me who never had the luxury of leaving their home and crazy parents. *snort* I've become an excellent cook, I learned to enjoy my loneliness and prepared mentally for leaving to England in September *excited but also scared*.

I've also met a lot of people, made new friends, had some adventures with men (I give up, it's completely pointless trying to make sense with them) and... um... totally forgot about fanfiction! Not my intention, it just happened! But hey, now I'm full with new experiences to enhance my writing! *persuasive smile* Oh and I updated Sleeping Beauty some weeks ago and now I'm working on the next chapter! *bats eyelashes* Fortunately I have the time to also reply to some reviews and I'm positive I'll have everything done by Monday.

Well, let's have a great new start and many new posts with less drama and tears than the previous ones. Not so juicy, I know, but I really, REALLY need some peace right now.

I believe I've solved this Pirate/Ninja thing. [25 Jul 2008|06:11pm]

tmchiba
With a wounded car I've had a lot of time to think and therefore I believe I can convincingly prove that the Pirate v. Ninja rivalry is a setup, caused by their true enemies, the Gnomes...

10. Gnomes have a reason to want Ninjas out of David the Gnome's Forest and pirates off the seas so the Roaming Gnome can sell more cruises.

9. David the Gnome talks to animals, like fish.  Aquaman talks to fish. Aquaman lives underwater. Aquaman doesn't like pirates.

8. There are no lawns in Japan, and thus nowhere to put garden gnomes. There are no lawns due to the policies inherited by Shoguns propped up by their ninja allies.

7. Gnomes are small and thus able to sneak into places and thus can easily simulate a ninja visit.

6. Gnomes have beards and thus can easily impersonate a pirate.

5. Gnomes can hide in plain sight, making them more effective at surveilance than ninjas are, but also making them eager to eliminate the competition.

4. If the pirates are beaten then Spongebob Squarepants will be cancelled because the pirate won't be there and Nickelodeon will be forced to air David the Gnome reruns instead.

3. The Gnomes are annoyed that they're not really in the Lord of the Rings, while Pirates are, even if those Pirates were kinda weak.  The Gnomes also believe they were more than capable of fighting off Aragorn's invincible Army of Cursed Souls which adds to their frustration.

2. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were once just little Turtles, which the Gnomes like to beat up, so when they became tall Ninjas, the Gnomes got their butts handed to them.

1. If the Pirates and Ninjas are out of the way, the Gnomes will be able to finally be able to smuggle their 'shrooms into the country without fear of their speedboats being seized by buccaneers or their truck wheels being deflated by ninja stars.

I think when the dust clears I shall be proven correct in this.

Life and Writing Updates [25 Jul 2008|04:10pm]

pottersister666
[ mood | chipper ]

Apparently after two weeks my foot isn't healing. So I'm getting it casted on Monday. Joy.

I'm also back to enjoying the single life. I don't particularly want to talk about the reasons. I've already repeated it three times and I'm sick of telling it. I just want to forget and move on.

In spite of all this, I'm actually rather happy right now. And I'm not even medicated.

I've started work on an original horror novel. I'm only a little over 3,000 words into it, but I'm really optimistic about it. I won't give much specific information here since I'm hoping to try for publication someday. Only a select few friends are allowed advance previews and plot details. All I will say is that I am a wimp when it comes to psychological horror (I also love it. Go figure.), so it's a miracle that I'm actually managing to write this thing. Especially since it involves a number of elements that actively scare the shit out of me. Which is probably a good thing, because if it scares me, there's a decent chance it might scare someone else. I'm fairly optimistic about that, too. I showed the rough prologue to someone and she said it made her cry. (Not in terror though, it just happened to be a very emotionally jarring sequence.) Actually, in the original concept, this story was going to be written as a movie script, because a lot of the scenes seemed like they would play out really well on the big screen. Plus it could be done fairly low budget due to the horror being almost purely psychological. But I made it through almost one whole scene before realizing something: I can't write movie scripts to save my life.

To any readers of my fanfiction who may see this: Don't worry. My fic What if..? hasn't been abandoned. I've just taken a short hiatus from it on account of really not being in the mood. I also haven't forgotten about my promise to answer questions about Checkmate. Failing major emergencies or complete computer/internet failure, those will still be posted sometime in early August. That update will also include further information on my fanfiction future and maybe even a few more details about my original projects. So stay tuned.

I've pretty well figured it out. Even if I never sell a single novel, I'll be writing my whole life. Even if I go blind and lose the use of both my hands, I'll find a way. I'll probably be dictating twelve stories on my death bed just to get them out before I go.

Morbid? Maybe. But it feels good to say.

Vivo; por lo tanto, escribo.

(Translation: I live; therefore, I write.)
