Master Prompts List
Note, March 25: now that sign-ups are closing, the prompts list has been revised to show which prompts were claimed. There were certainly some prompts that were particularly popular. *g*
This is the master prompts list, grouped by category. Each prompt has been assigned a number, which is directly above the prompt; you'll need those when you sign up. I just wanted to thank everyone who took time to leave something. You guys absolutely outdid yourselves, and we have a total of 106 excellent and diverse prompts as a result. :) If you see anything omitted or misattributed, please let me know.
This is NOT where you sign up; comments to this post are disabled. Sign-ups will be in comments to the post following this one. As always, suggestions/comments/questions can be left here, at the intro post.
Poetry/Verse:
1. - CLAIMED by
eponin10,
kestrelsan,
maygra,
I might lift the eaves again
and startle a small room still lit from within
and finger the traces I left there.
The considerations of days
lurk behind porous walls.
They cling there like stains.
Carpets soaked in the seepage of dreams,
flakes of skin
piled on surfaces as thick as dust.
There's a head-shape in the pillow
like a big fingerprint.
Memories flutter up like insects -
small shrieks, minor crimes inside
an inked-up window-pane
with clotted stars,
and now, outside the shut box,
this black beach with an ocean on it
breathing in waves,
tiered like plate glass,
and the whole world at night-time
a wide sea full of starfish waiting to be caught.
(Pandora's Box by Caitrona O'Reilly)
2.
"Within the house two voices arose in anger, a slender lash
Whistling delirious rage, and the dreadful sound
Of a thick lash booming and bruising, until it drowned
The other voice in a silence of blood, ’neath the noise of the ash. "
(Discord in Childhood: DH Lawrence)
3. - CLAIMED by
meredevachon,
maygra,
"When I’m asleep, dreaming and lulled and warm,—
They come, the homeless ones, the noiseless dead.
While the dim charging breakers of the storm
Bellow and drone and rumble overhead,
Out of the gloom they gather about my bed.
They whisper to my heart; their thoughts are mine."
(Sick Leave: Siegfried Sassoon)
4. - CLAIMED by
hkath
Open the book of evening to the page
where the moon, always the moon, appears
between two clouds, moving so slowly that hours
will seem to have passed before you reach the next page
where the moon, now brighter, lowers a path
to lead you away from what you have known
into the places where what you had wished for happens,
its lone syllable like a sentence poised
at the edge of sense, waiting for you to say its name
once more as you lift your eyes from the page
and close the book, still feeling what it was like
to dwell in that light, that sudden paradise of sound.
(Moon, by Mark Strand)
5. - CLAIMED by
orangesky33,
traveller,
annalazarus
Since you ask, most days I cannot remember.
I walk in my clothing, unmarked by that voyage.
Then the most unnameable lust returns.
Even then I have nothing against life.
I know well the grass blades you mention
the furniture you have placed under the sun.
But suicides have a special language.
Like carpenters they want to know which tools.
They never ask why build.
(Excerpt from "Wanting to Die" by Anne Sexton)
6. - CLAIMED by
kat_on_table
...Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don't have any kids yourself.
(This be the Verse: Philip Larkin)
7.
If any question why we died,
Tell them, because our fathers lied.
(Rudyard Kipling)
8.
Et ces mots, montré comme un jeu de cartes,
où l'on gagne trop tôt.
And these words, revealed like a game of cards
in which we win too soon.
(L'Enfant (The Child) by Rainer Maria Rilke, translated by A. Poulin, Jr.)
9.
Our love is a secret
like you tell your best friend
though I regret it
I don't want it to end
No one knows what we do
that's the way you want it
I should keep my mouth shut
because I love you
so I'll try not to forget
but why should I lie
When someone found out
all you did was shout
at me
but she swore her secrecy
she betrayed my trust
even though
it was only lust
(By
cloex_brosluvr)
10.
"Fool," he answered, "death is sure
To those that stay and those that roam,
But I will never more endure
To sit with empty hands at home."
(Alfred, Lord Tennyson)
11.
Her eyes grew wide for a moment; she drew one last deep breath,
Then her finger moved in the moonlight,
Her musket shattered the moonlight,
Shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him -- with her death.
(The Highwayman, Alfred Noyes)

I have killed for you

So, was that just a side-effect of Bloody Mary's death-throes - everything within bleeding distance bled?
Or is there a secret death in Dean's past? I'd love it if this death occured while Dean was quite young, as he was protecting Sam in some way - revenge for real or perceived hurts. Did something 'normally' awful, nothing supernatural, threaten Sam - a kidnapper, rapist, burglary gone wrong kind of thing? Did Dean go to sort things out - either taking his 'lesson' too far, or mistaking the human enemy for a spirit? How does that effect Dean? How much does Sam know, or suspect?

Sam and Dean never look in each other's duffles.
48.
What does Dean do while Sam's at high school all day?
49.
50. - CLAIMED by

In "Salvation" John yells at Dean for not telling him about Sam's visions and Dean's excuse was that "getting you on the phone, I got a better chance of winning the lottery". However, both Sam and Dean left John voicemails about other important developments (Dean dying, something being in their old house). So, why did they decide to keep the visions to themselves for so long?
