9/9/08 11:03 pm - [info]neevita - Fakehair.net: Dread wig for Rae

I'm back in the swing of things after school, and taking hair orders again. This is a custom wig I made for Rae, who asked for an a-line in the marbled style. I keep getting better and better. This wig is freakin awesome.

Wigs starting at $350. http://fakehair.net

I really like this inversion of my usual method, starting with the dreads on top and working down. It really changes the flow and I like how this feels much better.

Black base, with Pink, Magenta, Light blue and Purple dreads.

2/9/06 12:52 pm - [info]neevita - Fakehair.net redesign

I've been working out how to design the new fakehair.net anfd have finally settled on something. Now, I need the artists to help me do it. Like before, I want to showcase other peoples art on the site, one style for each page. If you might be interested in creating artwork, please email "courtnee" and gmail.com. Thanks!

12/9/05 12:18 pm - [info]neevita - It's been a while!

It's been a while since I've updated my hair journal. Since my last wig creation I've been doing lots of other things aside from hair, and the hair orders I've been doing have been basic black DE dreads. Which are beautiful mind you, but a little common to be posting photos of.

It is possible that I will begin work to build up stock for a trade show in March, and if that happens I can imagine there will be a lot more updates to come.

Happy Holidays

9/27/05 07:22 pm - [info]neevita - Pssst...

I've got the itch to make myself another set of dreads..

Likely pictures to come soon :)

9/8/05 11:36 pm - [info]neevita - New wig from f a k e . h a i r

This one belongs to [info]lolla, but I can MAKE you your own..

6/6/05 10:20 am - [info]neevita - Not really much of an update..

I've noticed a number of people joining the community lately, and it's been forever since I posted anything or updated my site, so it seems it is time for an "I am still alive" post.

Firstly, I'm not entirely sure why people are joining; I made this place as a community simply because I did not want to have to log into another LJ account to update my hair journal for fakehair.net. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind (if I did I would not have approved your memberships) but I am very curious as to what is expected from joining, rather than adding [info]fake_hair to your friends list to scan for updates? Were you guys planning on posting entries?

There isn't much going on in my hair world lately, nothing that I feel the need to add in here, anyway. I am still wearing extensions from time to time and procrastinating on a no-pressure wig order for trade in clothing, but all in all not much happening with teh hairs. I have a lot of other stuff going on right now including a lot of modeling and seeing a shrink for the first time in my life, the cold dark stinky basement just doesn't feel very cozy so alas, not much hair goodness to report.

I did recently receive my wool order from [info]jungle_dread and installed them for a Friday night party. I LOVE how soft and comfortable they are, but dislike how unnatural wool looks on me in general. They will be fantastic for costumes and elaborate updo's, though, and I can't recommend Jane enough for wool dread products. She's a real doll and very talented and made my first roving experience very satisfying. Her prices are extremely reasonable, as well.

4/22/05 11:15 am - [info]neevita - More pimpage for [info]unluckymonkey yarns

I really can't say enough good things about [info]unluckymonkeys yarn. I fucking love it. It's great for everything and it's so unique. I've had "Brown paper packages tied up in string" laying around here for an age, trying to figure out what I want to do with it. Welp..

I put some in with my blond dreads. This was the result:

The dreads are mostly a blond which color looks like 613 mixed with a dirtier blond (most natural colors I can get at Western are blends), a few 613 for depth that no one will notice but me, two Burgandy DE's for accent and a bunch of "Brown paper packages" tied in the front after the fact. I guess there are worse things I could have done this morning, after waking up at 8am groggy but unable to sleep.

I am still in a daze. :/ But it is BEAUTIFUL outside, look at those rich colors my point and shoot took.. No editing at all.

Of course, the photos don't do the hair justice. But they come close.

4/17/05 05:42 pm - [info]neevita - "Services" page added

Last night I added a page explaining my hair installation and extension services.

4/5/05 06:43 pm - [info]neevita - Another take on my red hawk

Toned down the tips with Ultra Violet and swapped the hot pink for purples, some dark. I like this better, though I really need to get some black elastics :/

4/4/05 06:31 pm - [info]neevita - My latest hair - Red Mohawk

I'm not so sure about this color on me, I think I will go to dark purple soon. Originally, I wanted fuzzy sides, but my hair was spotty from having extensions in that were too heavy for how fine my hair is, so I shaved to the scalp.

4/1/05 11:46 pm - [info]neevita - New fake.hair cards on the way.

I just designed and ordered new business cards for fake hair. If any of my customers/associates would like to have a couple sent to them to pass out please let me know. They should be arriving next week.

skinny biker-bitch rendition of me by [info]corvida. I like it.

3/20/05 10:34 am - [info]neevita - First self-installed dreads from f a k e . h a i r

First attempt at self dread installation: About 10.5 hours over the course of two days
Tying up the dreads in a massive updo: 45 minutes
Covering up awful acne for photos: About an hour, and every 'covering up' type substance in the household

FINALLY having the awesome Petrol Grun, Royal Blau, Vampire Violet, Lila, Black, and #33 mixed/solid dreads I made myself ON MY HEAD and pretty pictures of it to show off: Priceless.

+3 )

I wanted to put my new hair in and I didn't have anyone available to help me, so, I decided to finally give it a shot on my own. Which was a really big step for me, btw, because I have feared attempting to do that since the incarnation of my fakehair-fu.

I expected it to be hard, and it was, and I still have massive respect for the girls who come on here and say "I put in 60 DE's on my self in about 3 hours" because it took me the span of two days to put in about 45 in undercut style. But I love them and they are not falling out, and there is really something to be said for having control over thightness and being able to immediately pull out flyaways that get caught up in your sections.

I'll probably do a self-install again if I'm in a pinch and can't find anyone to help me.

Hope you are all well.

2/8/05 03:00 pm - [info]neevita - Hair Update: Finally made my own

Since I have to shlub around the house this week like a gimp, I decided to make my dreads. Originally, they were going to look like this;

But I didn't really like how it was looking on me. I had another personal dread project going on after making that loose fall and not really wanting to keep it, so I started dreading it.

Against my better judgement, I decided to try to combine the two projects, and.. I think it worked out, but I'm not really sure. Here's what they look like, tho. I still need to figure out who is putting them in for me.

I ended up with enough dreads that I didn't need to include the ubernatural blond/gold/auburn blends for the amount of hair I have. I guess we'll just have to see how they look on my head. At the very least, I can make 6 black dreads, and get rid of the blond/gold dreads, and have a colorful goff set and the beginnings of a natural set as well.

2/1/05 05:33 pm - [info]neevita - Latest from f a k e . h a i r - Showoffs!

So let's start with the coolest..

This is my in progress order for a client, 10 DE's in pink, lilac, magenta, blond, silver-white.

They make me drool!!

As for my hair, I did some asymetrical microrings that I may or may not have remembered to post in here..

And last night, I made myself a loose fall to go with.

Yay for my first loose fall!

Lots more photos are on my journal, x-post and all that jazz. I like the fall a bit better when I tuck the a-line behind my ear:

Anyway, that's what I'm up to, yay for having all the stuff I need to make hair again!

Hope everyone is well.

12/29/04 06:24 pm - [info]neevita - f a k e . h a i r - Last US based order showoff

I feel so.. so.. pink envy :P The client asked for neon purple, black, pink, and whatever swirles I wanted. So I messed around and came up with these organic critters. I really like how they turned out, all chunky and fat like fuzzy lop-sided striped caterpillars. I like how some of the swirled ones are flat, some are textured and bursting out their seems, how some are symetrical and some are not. I guess I solidify myself once again as the person not to go to if you want symetric stick straight dreads that are all the same thickness and length... That's why I have a links section :P At any rate, I hope the client loves em, they really turned out to be very fun to make indeed.

Stats:
15 neon purple, 5 black, 10 various marblings of ultra-crazy-hot-orangy-pink, baby pink, and normal run-of-the-mill pink, and all kinds of stripey goodness. So fun, so fat, so furry!
