Another update! Oooh, I'm getting into this now.

Anyway. Many, many, many years ago - a lifetime in icon making, but in reality, only about a year and a half - I made a songset, using images from the wonderful show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and lyrics from the band Evanescence, specifically their song Hello. At the time I was very pleased with the songset, but let's be honest now... it was crap.

This weekend, though, I was overwhelmed with a desire to redo it. So, I did. It is many times better, and I am quite pleased with it. Possibly in another year and a half, I shall hate it, but hey. Let's just see for now.

I made a bunch of Dan Radcliffe icons... most of them are very simple. Dan's so bloody photogenic that he needs, like, nothing done to him. Far. Too. Pretty. And talented. And lucky. And apparently a nice guy. With good taste in music!

So, being unemployed has its benefits. Namely, having a hell of a lot of time to play around with Photoshop and learn new techniques, and follow icon tutorials, taken from, aptly enough, icon_tutorial, which if you haven't realised by now with all the pimping, is like, the-best-site-ever. Seriously.

The tutorials I followed were by wliberation (which taught me a lot about new techniques and blend modes), xstatic__ and unbrokensky (whose tutorials are, to be frank, rather amazing, and you should all visit her journal and follow them and make beautiful icons. *worships*)

First up today, we have a bunch of updated icons. I made them months ago, but my image skills have improved greatly since, and even though I loved the jokes in the icons, I didn't want to use them anymore because I hated how they looked. They are among my favourite icons, though, so I'm glad they're prettified. Especially the Buffy/Dawn one, because it never fails to crack me up.

Ah, more icons. As you can see, I've learnt a new technique, and I'm using it a lot. It did occur to me that now my icons look a lot like other people's icons, but then I figured, hey. My icons may be prettier, but they're still my icons, with my own unique brand of humour. Yes.
