Firstly, a snapshot of your mods as I would so love for us to be remembered: ( From the Notorious Secret Chat-Logs of Saryemilie, Esq. )
NOW TO THE LENGTHY GOODBYES. I am also in the Unfashionably Late Club, so much so because my Internet decided to die for the last five days. Could there have been any worse timing? No, there couldn't!
A couple late logs of mine will come drifting into the RPG comm like on an errant tide, but those are mainly for personal benefit -- I've finally managed to wrap up my main story arcs, for which I owe so many thanks to this game and to the people in it. I can't stress how unexpected all this was. When we opened up our little project, I was paranoid that we'd only get like six players -- which, obviously, turned out to be a really stupid fear, because instead we got a bigger playerbase than I can actually physically cram into my house at once.
FT lasted nine months, which means it went longer than my second year of university, and I just will not be able to think back to 2007-08 without remembering this game: all the way from its conception, the little label in my inbox marked "THE GAME" before we even thought of a name, to email spamming each other, to the way the modteam balanced each other, Sarah's Cornada, the creation of MECHA-JULIE-RYAN-SAURUS GO to cheer Emily up, from logistics and hoped-for spin-offs (the Pentamerone in 1905!) and Lyssa's amazing Sims models, to the way our players bonded and created, to the four of us having drunk modchats (which we promised you should never find out about, but I think the veil of secrecy can be lifted now), right on down to the final decision to close.
It's been a coordinated effort, you guys, and you have kind of ruined me for modding forevermore. Even this closing has surpassed my expectations; I've seen games go quietly with just one underwhelming mod post, so I love the fact that so many of you were willing to join us in chiming in for the last hurrah. IT MIGHT SOUND CHEESY, OK, but you guys helped us get to our own little happily ever after, and for that, I'm happy. The matching groups (Byrons, May/Kilroy, Toby/Anne, Piglandia and the Goats), rehabilitated villains (Edie + Elisa!), the Rub-a-dub-dub trio, Neil and Secret Tong and his pack of Wonderlandians on their ~pilgrimage~, the most thrilling dynamics, bizarre (dys)functional relationships (Reynard/Jess), the unexpected win (Edwina. Edwina getting Reynard to watch Grey's Anatomy. everything Edwina. everything Kelly.), Noah and his women (Lil, Monica, Whit, Eva), Reynard and Cygna's entire arcs, and AUGH I CANNOT GO ON. Your writing was excellent, your characterisations solid, and your wit like modern-day Wilde, and I fucking loved it.
Mostly I'm grateful for the new people I've met, and hope to stay in touch with. I'm chthonian at IJ, jyuulii on AIM, and just ping me if you ever feel like talking!
And now for the epic 20 years later!

Oh, man. I know this is SLIGHTLY late, but I figure I'll go ahead and say farewell anyways. I'll go ahead and echo a few other people when I say THANK YOU, this game successfully pulled me out of the suicidal loop that is HP role playing -- broadening my horizons is not an easy thing to do, but FT managed it. :'] I had a lot of fun here, guys. The depth and variety of the characters here was probably the most prominent aspects of my experience at FT (a few that come to mind -- Byrons, Asher, Skip, Anser, I'm lookin' at you), and that's probably what made it so insanely enjoyable. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to explore such a great concept with such lovely characters, guys. :>
ANYWAYS. Here's my share of the meme, assuming anyone's still around to read it.
( Meme time! )

I think this probably falls outside the domain of 'fashionably late', and I apologize. Like Ryan already mentioned, I've been woefully absent for the end of Fairly Tales, and... it kind of stinks. I had logs I wanted to do, loose threads to tie, fun times to be had, etc. Unfortunately, RL has kind of gotten majorly in the way of things.
But enough about me.
FT has, as many of you have reiterated, been an incredible RP experience. I never, ever, ever thought in a million years that I would ever run a game. And I never, ever, ever thought in a billion years that it would be such an incredible, smashing success. Truly, the fates smiled upon us when it brought all of you to our doorstep with your characters - hilarious, poignant, well-written, and real characters. And that's saying nothing of you players yourselves - I've never met such a consistently awesome group of RPers in all my years. Your creativity, dedication, and love for FT have made the past nine months indescribably rewarding. There were days when we all were just basking in the glory of this game, and it was fantastic.
Of course, I can't write a long, sappy good-bye post without acknowledging my co-mods. Seriously, this game would not exist if it weren't for Ryan, Julie, and Sarah. I honestly believe that we had this modding thing perfected. FT is what it is because we each gave our input, checked and balanced each other, and just generally had a lot of fun working with each other and working on the game.
So, hey, thanks. I'd fully intended to stop RPing at the end of last summer. Then FT came along, and I perhaps RPed a bit too much during the school year, but I don't regret a second of it. It's been absolutely amazing. Thank you. ♥
( Yeah, yeah, let's get to the good stuff. Meme! )

I have to say, when I joined FT I didn't realize it wasn't a game so much as a Swaggering League of Incomperable Kickass. Creating and developing with such clever, high-quality writers who are terribly afflicted with shockingly quick wit has been not only a pleasure, but also an immensely gratifying experience. Dynamics in a game are everything, and the character chemistry (good and bad) here has been kind of amazing. I've had a chance to get to know some of you outside the game, and I'm so glad for that, because it's been an utter delight, and all of you are cooler than the other side of the pillow. Yeah, you heard me.
At the risk of being Jane's broken record, I have to say the epic participation in the Byrons' party logs has completely blown my mind forever with sheer awesome. Best. Ever. Seriously, what are your lives.
Thanks for making this such an awesome eight months, you guys are brilliant to the power of rad and if you keep in touch (sheeninja on AIM, kthx!), I solemnly swear I will endeavor not to hug you with knives.

You guys, FT has been an epic, amazing experience for me, and I’m indebted to each and every one of you--especially the modly team--for making it that way. It’s ridiculous how excellent you are. In a world full of disasters and broken ATM machines and spoiled milk and things you think are chocolate chip cookies but actually have raisins in them, I consider myself blessed to have stumbled into a collective of such high-density talent, high-density humor and quality. It hasn’t just been a pleasure to write with all of you, it’s been a pleasure to get to know you. And just allow me to say that the Byrons’ parties have been, hands down, the most exhilarating group RP experiences I have ever had.
May 5th/6th is Europe Day, people. Celebrate it hard.
As for twenty years down the line...

I am heymermaid at LJ, WaffleNinja4092 is my AIM and doomcrayon@gmail.com my humble e-mail. I don't anticipate using my IJ for much but commenting, so those three ways are the best to keep in touch. And DO keep in touch. I love you guys so hard.

Good God. So I have read all your phenomenal posts and basically am weeping at two pm on a Sunday afternoon, surrounded by pillows. It's good craic. Apart from my LOATHING OF RYAN - EXCUSE ME? MURDOCK/VELVET -- NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN, SRY2SAY, UNLESS MURDOCK WINDS UP DEAD IN HIS BED - this game has been phenomenal. I came from a history of HP games, too scared to venture into original writing and largely blocked on writing by my own self. This game -- shit. It's taught me bucket-loads, and shown me (more importantly) how much I still have to learn.
I am proud to have gotten to write with so many fabulous people, and I am sad we're all scattering, because hell - Jane and Sheena? I am livid I did not get moar writingz with you before you ~moved on~. But I am seriously seriously grateful that I joined, and got to be a part of this. FT was an impressive playground and the people in it seriously fantastic. How can I forget the Kilroy/May torturing of interns, the Byrons' slow creep toward a relationship that pwned the rest of the comm, the Reynard/Bluebeard stuff that displayed true villainy. I have managed to draw a shit-ton of you lot into Mythos, and for that I am supremely grateful.
My favourite moments? FORGIVE THE CRAZY AMOUNTS OF ~OLD~ CHARACTERS. But. Luke and Cygna's discussion of optimism/pessimism. Alex and ...just about every flagrantly anti-feminist post he made, plus his friendship with Easy. I have to add -- psychoanalysing Easy post ~liason~ from Maddie. And finally, what I'm most proud of and will miss most -- the really, really 'I cannot remember where it came from' stuff with Gray, Mike and Rose.
Anyway. Tl;dr MEME TIME.

Oh, FT. I remember well how I tried to avoid joining you, until Sarah, the minx that she is, sucked me in. To be fair, it was with a now defunct character, but I think the other five make up for it. ANYWAY. Everyone's already covered all the sap for me, so suffice it to say that FT has been an extremely rewarding RP experience, and I'm terrible at gratitude, so I'll leave it at that.
( And onto the meme. I apologise for my usual verbosity. )

Ah, the end of FT. This is a sad day indeed and I will never forget this game. Let me all just take a moment to thank you for being such amazing and talented players. You guys set the bar for me and made me force myself into being a better writer and for that, I am eternally thankful. Like many that I've read, FT was the first game outside of Harry Potter roleplaying that I've ever done and I'm glad I broke out of my usual games to try something new. FT was exactly what I needed and always a joy (HAH -- GET IT?) to read! There are so many things I think of in this game and I smile. It kind of feels like I'm graduating high school all over again lol. Letting go of the familiar and delving into the unfamiliar! Thank you all for being a lot of fun to read and for entertaining me for the last several months I've been here. Your characters have all been a joy to know and experience and butt heads with xD. AND NOW, FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT, 20 YRZ MEME YO.
( FAST FORWARD PLZ )

Despite the fact these posts are already making me weep, I really want to get mine in too.
There is so much much about this game I've specifically loved that this post could go on forever and I'd still forget something I'd need to edit in because my memory is horrible. I have loved all the characters in this game, no matter how long or briefly they were here, how loud or quiet they were. In my years of RP, I have never been in a game like FT, and I know I will never find one just like it again, because it was truly unique, not just the concept, but the character interactions and the players and the perpetual shine this place always had that made it something to hold tightly to. I will never forget it and I will never forget any of you.
( and years later... )
So, it's been wonderful, all of you, and you can find me on AIM at only drawn bad and via journal at princessjessia (both on LJ and on IJ, the later where the RPGish stuff often goes).
SO MUCH LOVE TO ALL OF YOU, Jessi
