| | Atreyu "Lose It" | ] | There's a point when the phrase "take the good with the bad" just becomes ridiculous.
All my life it's always been the same thing: I get some great news, some amazing gift, something really good happens for me...and then I get an equal, or possibly worse, dose of bad news to go with it.
My dilemma right now is my living situation. The lease for this house is coming to a close, and all thats left is Carson, Keenan, and myself. Stephanie and Ken are obviously still paying rent, but they've already moved out. Keenan's financial situation isn't great, just like myself, but luckily he has the option of moving in with his parents again, which he's going to be taking advantage of. So that leaves Carson and I with trying to find a living arrangement by the end of August.
However, due to Carson's busy schedule with work, he's going to have to take his upcoming vacation time to get moved. Problem is, I'm not ready to move yet, and we haven't found a place. We have the option of trying to find a house with Julia and possibly another roommate, but time is short and the clock is ticking. Who knows if that will even work out. If we don't figure something out in time, Carson will be forced to move in with Kevin, leaving me by myself to figure out how to avoid being homeless.
Now, I'm not mad at him because I understand his situation. Low on funds, bad credit, pressed for time, busy schedule. I totally get it. It just blows that I'm getting close to being completely screwed over. The fact that I've got a drum set doesn't exactly make it easy when finding a place either. Can't be an apartment, and I've gotta find someone who doesn't mind the occasional noise.
So right now I'm in the process of trying to find a back-up plan, and I'd prefer it if there was an option to save some money, because I'm DEEP in the debt abyss right now. I've talked with Matt about me possibly moving back to his house, but he's gotta talk it out with his parents and who knows what they'll say. Kristin even threw it out there that if worse came to worse I could crash with her for a while.
If I wasn't so dead broke and so far in debt then this whole thing wouldn't be a huge deal. Problem is, even though I make good money at my job again, it's too late and I've got bills piling up that need to be tended to. And it doesn't help that I'm trying to keep this band together, especially with the recent news that Keenan posted about with Sharkteeth. I just have the feeling that I'm fighting a losing battle right now, and sooner or later I'll collapse from the weight of it all.
I need help, and if anyone has any to spare, please let me know. I don't know how much more of this stress I can take... |

lushes_r_us, it's a cocktail with a little mojo.
Anyway, I spent my week hit by convention-sickness. Dunno whether it was the gangly Flugtag'gers or the usual stank-o-taku, but I caught it bad. I'm just now up to "regular speed" and realizing again why X-MEN LEGENDS II was more fun to play than MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE(if I had to choose). In related gaming news, it sucks to hear that WIPEOUT HD was delayed out of fears of epilepsy warnings & failed testing, but at least they're adding extra features & trophy support in the meantime. Lastly, SINGSTAR USA... stop taking example from PSN USA. You both are terrible when it comes to updates lately. Both the UK and ASIA/OCEANIA servers have a lot more games, better songs(We got NKOB and a slew of bands no one's heard of... They got Gorillaz and songs worth karaoke to); and they've snagged some pretty slick Squ'enix PS1 games for DL. Augh. I know SONY reps won't read this particular LJ, but I'm sure it'll at least get the word spread.
Speaking of information...
cobheran and jedi_mario: Please contact me as soon as possible!!! I've got to put in my vacation requests for next month and I need to know which paid vacation days for the trip need to be taken off. I also need to know details on the trip itself -- i.e., COST. I'm better now(and so is thar-intarnetz), so the phone's on and AIM will be up when I get in from work this afternoon. DragonCon'ned: For those GOING to D*con... any plans, themes, parties, details? I literally get paid that Friday as well, so it SHOULD be a good weekend! ;D For the B-House: hella_tight, I'll desposit funds for rent on 8/1/08. If you have a spare deposit slip or a way I can drop off payment that afternoon, lemme know. I'd rather not leave it out in the open otherwise. Also, as I posted before, I cancelled the cleaning service this month(didn't make sense to do it a month ahead); and will schedule it for AUGUST 18th at the earliest. They're not doing individual rooms, just the hallways, stairs, and kitchen(except for dishes). |

| | Coil - "Red Queen" | ] | Nights like tonight remind me how awesome it is to live here with friends.
Jarrod and I concocted a steak and baked potato dinner for all of us, and aside from the meat needing a little more time to marinate and the potatoes a little more time to cook, it was a smash hit.
Watched Untraceable, which was a pretty decent flick, and then I forced Eddie and Joe to watch Dr. Strangelove (Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb), which is one of my faves of course. Some assorted anime and we chipped a little more away on our play-through of Final Fantasy VII.
I have to say that despite the fact we've been besieged by complaints from the Avalon HOA (which really boils down to one persistent and pernicious problem that should've been dealt with months ago) we've been doing quite well here. Once we get that out of the way and off our minds, I think we're going to be quite awesome. Sure, we could use a fifth roommate, but we're doing fine toughing it out for now.
I have to say what a boon it is to have Joe here. He's "clicked" (or is it "cliqued"?) well with us in a very short time, providing some much needed energy to the three of us who are normally a bit docile. He's become my "apprentice" in many ways... I'm very impressed on just how open-minded he's been. He's taken a shine to some of my favorite music (Devin Townsend in particular), under my tutelage in Tiger Woods '05 has become even better at the game than I am, and has developed a taste for whisk[e]y and scotch like I've just recently acquired.
I'm still struggling a bit. My mind is more scatterbrained than usual lately, in part because there's been some looming issues at home and at work that, quite honestly, will be dealt with soon enough, but until they are I am restless. There's so much I'd like to do - write a story, read some books, work out and lose some (okay, a lot of) weight - but I've been unable to really invest a focused effort into any of them. I'll start on one and then my mind will drift off to something else. I think I have ADD in that regard, but I'll wait until I get a professional opinion on that before definitively saying that I do have it.
Anyhow, I'm off to sleep. I hope this scotch I've had will be a decent dream aid. |

" We know that directors James Wan (Saw), David Slade (30 Days of Night), James Gunn (Slither), Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror), and Marcus Nispel (Friday The 13th) can be scary, but how are they at making us laugh? Microsoft explores this concept this fall as they deliver original comedy pilots from the masters of horror to the Xbox 360. The concept was conceived by Gunn and Producer Peter Safran of Scary Movie fame, which makes a whole lot of sense, though I'm not sure the actual results will. So far my favorite pilot description is for James Wan's Doggie Heaven, in which a young man is shot to death only to wake up in the wrong afterlife. Hilarity ensues!
While most of us will have to wait until the fall, Comic-Con attendees will be able to catch a sneak peak at the “Horror Meets Comedy Xbox Original Short Film Pilots” panel on Friday, just a small slice of Microsoft's Comic-Con presence detailed below." |

Okay, I held off on doing this until all parties involved got back to me. That moment came this afternoon when I spoke with one of my doctors, so I feel ready to deal with this.
Since high school I've felt something's been off. Family issues not withstanding I was having a hard time staying awake in class, focusing, and getting assignments finished. My room was looking more and more like a war zone, and my bank account was leaking like the Titanic, and for the life of me I couldn't understand why. Part of me wanted to blame my parents, a lot of me wanted to blame myself, and a lot of the internal finger pointing amounted to nothing, because I wasn't doing my part to understand it.
Skip over my nervous breakdown in college and two hospital stays later, and I now finally have a painfully clear image of what's happened. I spent 5 days over the last 2 months performing various psychological and sleep studies, and the doctors involved have come to the following:
1. To some extent, I have Aspergers, which has manifested itself in some obsessive-compulsive behaviors like hording and buying things excessively. 2. I definitely have a full-blown case of ADHD. That explains a garage of unfinished projects. 3. I'm also Narcoleptic. And to think, my boss didn't believe me!
Talk about a three strikes of lousy luck. If I don't obsess over stupid crap or anything else that can amuse me, I fall asleep. Or I just fall asleep randomly. Bogus.
The bright side to this is that a lot of this is treatable, and one drug can even take care of two problems. I feel like a new door is opening up, allowing me a new path down my life, and I'm very much eager to take it. I thank all of you for being my friends, even those of you who have fallen off the grid, for putting up with some of my stuff (a HUGE thank you for my sister, who had to endure 18 years straight of it, lol)
Expect Mike v. 2.0 to be in full operation by October. |

| My weekend in St Pete so far. |
[Jul. 20th, 2008|09:35 pm] |
Still here too, will be back in Orlando sometime Monday evening.
I honestly been having a blast over here. Not dealt with any of the stress of Orlando (housing, work, etc). Thursday pretty much did errands like haircut, dentist, and taking my mom around for her appointments.
Friday hung out with Alina over here. Had an AWESOME day with her. Went swimming and wandered around SawGrass Lake park.
Saturday was Metrocon with my brother and sister in law. Gotta say....it sucked. BIG TIME. I have a question for the anime con guru's out there. Honestly, why the FUCK are your con's so expensive? Outside of shitty vendor rooms, talentless art tables, con funk at it's worst, and pointless events...why charge $30 for a day pass? Is it so some head of the con can get their jollies off to young man boy anime goat porn?
Outside of the horrendous charge (actually, I didn't have to pay, but I feel sorry for those who did). It was a very boring con. I didn't get a chance to watch the FlugTag, but the people who were attending that seemed to be in the same area as the con folk and lets just say drunk college jocks and IDIOT ANNOYING con/cosplayers do not seem like a good mix. I'm pretty much DONE with anime cons for good. FX, Megacon are it for me. Hopefully DragonCon or Siggraph one year would be done as well. After me and my brother/sister-in-law left the con we hung out at their house.
By the way...does ANYONE answer their phone anymore?!?!?!??! I called about 5 of you that were at MetroCon and ONLY Joe answered his phone.
Today pretty much relaxed. Helped my parents with lawn work, watched Shoot Em' Up (for the THIRD time this week) and Untraceable.
Tomorrow (monday), going to be hanging out with Alina again. Then sometime that evening driving back to Orlando. Got work on Tuesday till close, off Wednesday and HOPING to see Dark Knight after the roomies get off work.
So pretty much to sum up the weekend. Having fun with family and really awesome girl. Thanks to Joe and Bobbi. Shoot Em' Up still rocks after 3 days of watching it, Metrocon sucked, looking forward to being back in Orlando with the roomies, and finally...WOULD IT HURT FOR ANYONE TO ACTUALLY ANSWER THEIR PHONE!? |
