We upgraded FAE to a newer version of the forum. It's pretty cool! I like it a lot, but a lot of the features are big improvements for the administration area. However, I hope you will enjoy the new look and new forum. Come visit if you haven't seen it yet. :)

The old and familiar look was not compatible with the new forum, so it has a new layout. I added a few alternate layouts for you to choose from when you visit if you don't care for the default one. The instructions on how to change it can be found in the Getting Started section.

Artist Usergroup Clarifications and 0 Posters-Important Please Read!

It seems that some members at FAE need some clarification concerning the Artist Usergroup section and it's contents. So here goes:

How to join:
If you want to apply for the Artist usergroup, you must do two things. You must do BOTH steps... one without the other can prolong your wait time. If you do step 1 without step 2, then we still need to verify that you qualify. If you do step 2 without step 1, then while you may qualify, you might get lost in the shuffle and accidentally overlooked. Step 1 sends me an email automatically so that I know someone is waiting for admittance.

Step One:
Go to the top of the screen, select USERGROUPS, and apply for membership to "Artists Group"

Step Two:
So that we can make sure you meet the qualifications, please post your intent to join in this forum (The Artist Usergroup Applicants Forum).

Start a new thread with your username as the subject, and in the body of the post include any website links etc so that we can verify you are offering your work for sale. Thanks!

As this is a manual process it might take longer for some than others. Only because we're busy too! We'll try to process your application as quickly as possible. Thanks for understanding.

To be accepted as a member to the Artist Usergroup you have to be attempting to sell your own art in some fashion. This doesn't mean you actually have to have sales... but that you are trying to sell your work. If you need help on how to start selling your art online, there is an article to help you get started:

Please do not request access to user groups if you have not made any posts! We require at least an intro post before you will be considered for access to the user groups. Thank you.

Addtionally: the Artist Usergroup and its contents are for the approved members of that section only! These usergroups are in place for a reason and anyone who wants to be a part of them needs to make some posts in the first place and try to be an active part of the forum. If this can't be done, they don't deserve to read what is posted in the private areas of this forum.

Holiday card Exchange!!!

Sign up for the annual FAE card exchange HERE!!! Traditionally we've done it where each person sends to 3 or 4 people and get cards from the same number (though not necessarily the same people). We can change it up, if you want. I'm open. We can do one and one (sent/received). We can send small prezzies.

Group for Fantasy Artists at Renspace!

Hi there members of FAE. I had recently joined Renspace and even though they had an art group, they didn't specifically have a group for Fantasy artists, so I started one. To make it easy for us all to remember, I simply used "fae" for the address:

Call to Artists!!! - Earth Day theme!!!

This was previously posted in 2 journal/blogs back...but I've done some rethinking on this.

I'd like to do an "Earth Day" theme (Earth Day is April 22nd). But, I'd like to have some help on this. A) need someone who can build a webpage faster than I can (preferably using CSS - trust me, I have my reason "why") B) I'd be more than happy to host all the images and the artists over at the Fairy and Turtle (like what was done for "Gothic Hearts" in '06 - only with the individual who decides to do the web layout for the "Earth Day" theme, we'll be able to catch any mistakes or mistyped stuff, etc.) C) reason for CSS coding so I don't have to listen to my hubby grumblegrumble when I need help posting it to the webpage and he says "Why wasn't it done in CSS?!" and trust me, somehow someway, he'd end up editing the work that has been done...(rolls eyes)...trust me, CSS coding is the safe way...

Instead of beating my head or someone else's head in doing .CSS lay out, i would just revamp the style (which is .CSS) I used for "Gothic Hearts" for the Earth Day theme. Now I face one problem...its an Earth Day theme but what would be a good title? I came up with yesterday:
Fairies of Earth (FOE for short, which seems rather ironic and contrary to being more of a "friend" to and of Earth Day)...anyone have any suggestions for a title?

If you're interested, please send me your submission by 20 April (45 days away from today), image size should be no larger than 450 x 560 (be it watercolor, acrylic, digital, sculpture, etc. - whatever floats your boat) at my e-mail address.
Include the following in your e-mail - an image of yourself (60x60 will be fine), about the piece (medium, inspiration about it in regards to Earth Day) and what do you do to make Earth Day an everyday happening in your life(be it growing your own vegetables, solar panels on the house, recycling, etc. - any combination).

Your piece can have anything to do with the earth, be it an air, water, sky, wood, river, etc. piece - think about it, its all about our wonderful life-giving and sustaining Mother Earth and we're showing and doing our part of our appreciation for all that she does for us.

And last but not least, my latest WIP (as I lost all motivation on "Lotus Blossom" after our return from Rome a couple of weeks ago)

Hey guys-I am again pushing back the deadline for the Dark Fantasy Show. I'm making it the same date as Christina's Enchanted Lands Deadline-February 5th. That way it will be easy to remember both and it will also give us all a little more time.
I just have a lot going on right now in the way of personal commitments, work, etc and I am really pressed for time. There's no way I could manage to get everything ready any sooner. Sorry about the delay.

ACEO Swap Commitments

We all know that life happens and gets in the way of the things we have to do. If you sign up for the ACEO Swap, make sure that you will send out an ACEO in return. Don't sign up and then never send an ACEO out while you receive one.
If you're going to be late-let your recipient know! This is understandable at times! We all are guilty of it, myself included. I owe 2 ACEO's right now and this is why I have not been participating in the Swaps -I plan to get caught up with my current commitments first.
Please follow through or do not sign up! Make sure you have your prior Swaps completed before signing up for a new one.

Commitments

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say something in regards to making commitments. If you sign up for something at FAE, you are agreeing that you intend to follow through with it. You are supposedly committing yourself to it. I have already heard that a few people did not receive their cards from the Christmas Card Exchange that we held here at FAE. I know that things happen and it's easy to let things slide. However, if you sign up for something at this forum-please follow through! It's not fair to the other participants if you sign up and then neglect to do your part.
Also, please remember that Dawn takes time out of her very busy life to do coordinate this Card Exchange for us. Please respect her time and efforts and please respect your fellow participants. If for some reason you find that you can not partipate after signing up for something-contact whoever is handling the event and notify them ASAP so your name can be removed if there is still time to do so.
If you owe someone a card, please send it. And, in the future, do not sign up if you do not think you will be able to follow through.
