[Oh man, it's so hard for me to talk normal since I'm so used to RPing as Sheeda and she doesn't talk like me at all. 'Scuse any awkwardness. Still semi-RP mode.]
Dear Person,
Elice isn't dead, first off. I dunno where you got your information, but it's obviously incorrect. Especially since you're saying they kill her during Ankoku. They kidnapped her, yes, but killed her they did not. Which you would have known if you had done any research at all. Even Wikipedia says as much. In Monshou, she and Sheeda were left in Altea whilst Marth went on a campaign for Hardin, and during this, Altea was invaded (once again). Elice let them take her instead of Sheeda, so she could escape and tell Marth of what was happening.
She didn't die during Monshou, either. In fact, Elice doesn't die, period. <Spoilers for Monshou, for anyone who cares.> Jeigan does, after Monshou, because he's old </end spoilers>, but not Elice.
Wish you would research these things, Jayden
Dear Other Person,
Elice =/= Sheeda. For one thing, you can tell Elice and Marth are related. Sheeda is Marth's childhood friend, and later on, his fiancée and wife. They aren't the same people, y'know.
Second of all, Elice is his older sister, not younger. They never tell us how much older she is, but it's probably not a huge gap - probably at least two years. And he looks up to her, comes to her for comfort whenever he needs it.
And also, just because she's the oldest, doesn't mean she's next in line for Altea's throne - she in fact, isn't. See, the way royalty works is that, if a king and queen only have a daughter, then her husband becomes the next king. If she does not marry, then she succeeds her parents. If her mother bears a son, then he is automatically the heir apparent - that is, the next in line - regardless of how much older she is than he. Men can continue the family bloodline through their name and status, whereas women cannot, for they marry into other families and assume their husband's name.
Therefore, even if Elice was ten years older than Marth, he would still become the king of Altea, because he is the only male heir. Elice would only get it if he died without leaving an heir apparent and no wife, if his heir died, or he was too young to lead Altea, in which case, she would become his regent - the one who makes all of the decisions - while he became a figurehead until he was old enough.
Since none of that is the case, she would not succeed him.
See, it is details like that, that make your story more...realistic.
Love, Jayden
Dear Other Other Person,
Marth is not pompous, selfish, or full of himself.
