We are all journalists and writers taking part in the recent mass debates about the best/easiest/quickest ways to drop some lbs and keep it off. This is not telling people the diets that will work best for them, but for people to see the social/physical/mental effects diets of a certain kind have on people. From supermodel diets to weight watchers they will all be tried and tested, with real people, and real results. People will be carrying on with thier daily lives, jobs, and social calenders while they test them out.
So if you are just curious and want to find out more. Comment and we will add you!

My weight is becoming an issue for me again. Which is not good. I've had serious issues with the whole subject in the past and i'll never get to that point again. But I'm worried Im on that path. I eat like one small meal a day, with cherry tomatoes inbetween. Not good. ugh. I know I have that set weight I make myself stay under, but I'm right at it now and not happy with it.

Hi! I'm Brandy. I'm seventeen and I live near Orlando. I'm don't necessarily have a lot of weight to lose or anything, but I have some baby pudge and I'm finally going to do something about it. I'm pretty much here for motivation to do this the healthy way since I've had some eating disorder problems in the past. Basically, I never exercise. I was in ballet for six years as a kid but I've already lost that lean dancer body. I'm starting a yoga/cardio kick this week, so hopefully I'll stay on that. I also have really horrible eating habits currently. I've always had a naturally high metabolism so I pretty much eat whatever I want whenever I want. My boyfriend is the skinniest thing ever and eats constantly so since I've been with him I've been doing the same ... unfortunately I am not a calorie burning machine. My parents are leaving for a month this week and I'll be able to buy groceries for myself which will help, I think. Mainly I'm eating junk because it's in our pantry, so I'm already planning grocery lists of mainly fruits and veggies. I'm really just trying to be healthier in general.
Time for the usual stats.
HEIGHT; 5'6" HIGH WEIGHT; 110 lb. CURRENT WEIGHT; 106 lb. LOW WEIGHT; 100 lb. GOAL WEIGHT; 100? I'm really just trying to tone up my jiggly bits so I don't really have a goal weight in mind ... more of a goal physique?
 this is my face.
( peeektures )
So yeah. :]

I don't know how long i've been telling myself that i'm going to stop eating fatty foodz and start eating healthier but i can never stick to it. I really need to loose weight Height - 5'6" Highest Weight - 150 lbs Current Weight - 149 lbs Lowest Weight - 125 lbs Ultimate Goal Weight - atleast to 130 lbs
does anyone have something they do or tell them self or something. so you don't eat something you don't need in your body? i know for some people it's real easy to tell yourself not to eat something. but i just make excuses. i hate being overweight.
i'm thinking about going pescaterian again, but i don't think that'll help much.
any suggestions?

thanks :]

| atkins |
[5/8/07 @ 7:39pm] |
i am going to start atkins tomorrow. this is just one of the many reasons why i think it will work.
"Frederick Benoit and his associates decided to compare a 1,000-calorie, 10-grams-of-carbohydrate, high-fat diet with fasting (the same principle that Kekwick and Pawan founf most effective), using seven men weighing between 230 and 290 pounds. They used state-of-the-art body composition technology. After ten days, the fasting subjects lost 21 poinds on average, but most of that was lean body weight; only 7.5 pounds was body fat. However, on the controlled carbohydrate regimen over the same period of time, 14 of the 14.5 pounds lost was body fat. Think of it. By eating foods low in carbohydrate and high in dietary fat, subjects burned their fat stores almost twice as fast as when they ate nothing at all!"
i'm sold. what about you?
(i am terrified of eating so much fat, but i think i can do it for two weeks just to see if it works or not).

Hi, I'm new to this community, definitely not new to dieting.
I'm a really busy person - I'm always running to a rehearsal, performing in a show, going to auditions, school - and I try to keep it healthy. However ( there's always a however) I get home late all the time. SO my question for you guys is:
What is the best way to battle the late night munchies? I know everyone's body works differently, but what would you suggest? I hate coming home and feeling so out of control!
Oh, and one more question. Are there any exercises that you all know of that target the obliques? Because I am growing some handles that I definitely do not love.
Thanks!

| exercise |
[5/1/07 @ 8:42pm] |
Is it possible that I am overexercising? I'm a very active athletic girl. I play tennis and basketball. Usually my schedule consists of a light breakfast [half a bagel or grapefruit], lots of water till lunch, a salad or nothing for lunch, and some kind of medium sized dinner usually consisting of broccoli. I have practice everyday from 3-5pm, and I usually exercise at the gym for 1 hour after that [elliptical, treadmill, cross-trainer, squats, etc]. Do you think I am overexercising? Is there a recommended amount of exercise that is considered healthy? I feel like I am going overboard. A little help?

Hey there, ladies and gents.
I do yoga at a local community college and I really love it. I was wondering if any of you folks had some suggestions for some yoga work-out DVDs? I don't have time in my schedule to re-enroll for a semester or two, but I'd really love to continue.
I'd prefer something that had workouts that were about an hour long. I've tried to do the Namaste Yoga on FIT TV, but I find the workouts too fast and not at all challenging. And the commercial breaks = death to my groove.
Merci beaucoup, mes amours <3

[4/7/07 @ 5:49pm] |
hey guys
i've been doing this stomach exercise for the past few months or so

in a desperate attempt to obtain a completely flat stomach before bikini season.
i'm not sure if it's working, i mean i think i'm seeing minimal results but i'm honestly not sure.
anyway, getting to the point, i just noticed that my stomach looks a little thicker below my ribs when looking at my side. usually it is abnormally skinny there, then i have this little pot belly going on below. i really do not want the thickness, and since that exercise targets those abs i'm guessing that must be it but i'm not sure, so do you think it is?
if this is what's causing the "thickness" then does anyone have any other suggestions as to how i can obtain this fantasy stomach whilst still maintaining a lean figure? i know running would be the ideal option but the neighborhood i live in is pretty dodgy to go running in and my closest gym is about 45 minutes away and i can't afford the travel.
any help appreciated :)

| spring has sprung, and it's time to get moving. |
[4/3/07 @ 11:29am] |
the new spring weather is supposed to make me happier than i've been all winter. but instead, it makes me nervous, because i know swimsuit season is fast approaching and i am simply not ready for it. however, just like nearly everyone, i have zero motivation & accountability. 1) what kind of diet/excersise plan would get me started on the right foot, and also be easy to incorporate into a busy lifestyle? really, i just want things that will stick. 2a) maybe this sounds like a weird question, but is it possible to lose as much as you want in a healthy manner? or does it get to a point that because everyone is so different, you can't lose any more? 2b) for example, I feel like I'm a pretty muscular person and I don't do anything for it. Can I get smaller if a lot of my leg mass is muscle?
sorry if i sound ignorant, and thanks for your time.

Does anyone know where you can go to calculate % body fat? I know the old marine's measuring way is inaccurate and I'd really like to find out how much of me is extra weight.
Also, does anyone know good ways to make healthy meals without a kitchen? I'm in college dorms so I'm pretty much limited to a microwave.

CW: 140

hey guys
i've been on a strict diet for the past two or three weeks, and have lost all my holiday food-freakout weight and more, so i'm really pleased:) i did this by eating a cereal like cornflakes/crunchy nut cereal at 7:00AM, a special k bar at 11:20AM, 4 rice cakes with pesto, sliced tomotoes, mozarella cheese, and pine nuts at 5:00PM, then having either spanish rice/egg fried rice/wild rice/anything rice basically for dinner at around 8:00PM. if i ate any form of food not healthy, or junkish, my ma gave me a special chinese tea formulated to speed up digestion. i had two cups of it every day, even if i hadn't eaten anything junkish. i'm sure it contributed loads to the fast weightloss.
i've been taking exams for the past month though, and have not exercised at all:/ i haven't lost my figure or anything, and i used to work out for an hour a day without dieting and honestly saw no difference but it kept me from gaining weight. now i want to know, coupled with the dieting, what can i do to get the bit above my bellybutton to "pull up" in a way? as to make my stomach flatter?
thanks!

Okay, so I'm finally going to begin this diet that I've been putting off for a few weeks now. These holidays really messed me up. I need some help though.
What are some snacks and/or recipes you eat that are filling, but healthy and low in calories at the same time?
And, which works better for you; counting calories, weight watchers, or just being careful without being too strict?
Thanks in advance!!

Okay so I'm going to give this whole introduction post thang a go. statistiques (yeah i know it isn't spelled like that but it looks cooler) Height: 5'2" ish! Lowest Weight: I weighed myself a few weeks ago and I was 115 but that was with clothes so I guess around 112-113? Current Weight: Oh boy, the holidays have sure screwed me over and am feeling suspiciously like a manatee and/or whale. And maybe possibly a narwal. 117ish. Highest Weight: 122 lbs. Goal: Somewhere around 105-110.
Here are some pictures. ( Read more... ) yahhooooo. Sooo, I need some help getting along and whatnot. Anyone up for being LJ FRANDZ~*~? I am really good at commenting and I'll actually read your entries, ha. It's nice to meet everyone. :D

I've made some pretty good progress so far! For the first time I fit into a size 11/12 at Delia's! They fit perfectly, and when I tried them on I felt pretty darn good!
I've dropped down to 153 from 175, I really didn't do anything, just cut out potato chips (I used to eat those like religiously!)and I hardly drink soda, I'll have a soda now and then, but before when I was 175 thats all I used to drink! I also used to snack A LOT after school, I'd come home open up a bag of potato chips and then eat half of them. But now if I do have potato chips (very rarely) I count out the portion size.
I've never realized how powerful over-eating is along with portion size!
My goal weight is 130 ultimately, but I've noticed that I just set little goals and that helped a lot!
Good luck everyone else for whoever wants to lose weight! Keep on truckin'!

I'm 5'7" and in the past few years of slow weight loss, I have gone from 212 and a BMI of 33.2 to 165 with a BMI of 25.8.
This is the happiest with myself I've ever been, and quite honestly the best Christmas present. I just have 10 more pounds until I'm no longer overweight and am considered healthy -- something I haven't been since I was a wee one.
My goal weight is around 140 though, so let's see how it goes :D
