A Spuffy Fic - "Corrected Vision"
I have just posted my second offering of the day for my

seasonal_spuffy</lj> challenge and am X-posting it here, for my own convenience, and again for any who are not members of that community.I had been watching Season 2 of BtVS and had alsways thought that spike should have been involved in this episode ... so here is my version of what actually happened!!
Story Name - Corrected Vision
Rating - G
Word count - 4,800
Spoliers - Up to and including Season 2 episode - "I Only Have Eyes For You"
The story starts during this episode, and are my thoughts on what may have happened had spike been a witness to Buffy and Angel's meeting.
Disclaimer - I don't own anything (although like the rest of you, would love to have Spike! ... no profit is being made.

One Very Dappled Boy!
As you all know DJ is a dappled grey - which essentially means he is all shades of grey through to white (and this will lighten every year).
When I went to get him in today to see how is was, it was hard to say if he was a Bay or a Grey ... yes, we have had rain, and he has been rolling!
I gave his tail and mane a good groom and checked the rest of him for bumps and bruises ... as well as giving his lower front legs a thorough check.
The sores are dry and healing well - there is some local warmth around the areas and a little general swelling - but otherwise he is doing well.
Toni came out and I trotted him up, and he trotted himself back (which is a good sign) ... and on evry 10th step he was just slightly sore ... but yes, another step on his recovery.
we stood chatting for a few minutes until Toni then pointed out the bit I hadn't seen (a combination of being in a box ... and colour-blind) ... he had a red face!!! Yes, he aslo had a bit of orange on his lips.
The orange is carrot - of course.
The red - well he trashed a head collar and lost the next one - so I bought him a new one ... guess what colour it is ... red!!
So, all in all he is a very colourful boy at present - just glad the sores are healing as the gels used are luminous colours as well!!

Hi - I was mad enough to sign up for

God, Another Fandom. Just What I Need.
This time, it's Merlin. Basically, it's about Merlin as a teenager.
But it's also so much more than that. It's possibly the slashiest thing on British TV (yes, I know I don't live in Great Britain. We still get their TV). It's got good characterization, structured writing, and decent plotting (although Arthur seems to have contracted the Stupids in a major way). It's got really cheap special effects, except for the CGI dragon, which is voiced by JOHN HURT (aka the guy from Alien. You know the one. Of course, I know him as Caligula from I, Claudius). It has Anthony Head as King Uther, who's not evil but sure is a prick. The only thing that I find not completely awesome is the blatent anachronisms, but considering that this is a magic fantasy world, I can probably forgive it that.
So, yeah. WATCH IT.
In other news, I had an essay due today and I'm working on it now. At one in the morning.

Hi - Hope your Monday is are going as well as mine.
It started off with good news about DJ, as I have already said, he is getting a bit better.
When I got back from there I had a couple of phone calls, so have actually earn't some money today.
And I have finished (I think!!) my seasonal_spuffy story, so it has now gone to my Beta to see what she thinks of it all complete.
So, all in all a good day.

Toni Is A Great Friend!
As it was Ivy's funeral on Friday and then I am at mum and dad's over the weekend, I abandoned the poorly boy!
Go on, after thre .... One, Two, Three ... Awwwwwwww.
Don't you all feel sorry for him?
Anywat, throughout the wekend she has slackened his strappings, taken tham off for short times, replaced them ... every couple of hours (or so) she went and checked him out ... even on Saturday, which was also her grand-daughter's 2nd birthday.
Anyway - it worked!
He was "naked" this morning, and although there was swelling round both joints, and his skin was scabbed and sore, there was no heat and he was sound. I brought him in, and gave him a new head-collar as a pressie, then gave him a bit of a groom.
I trotted him up the drive, and for the first half of it he was sound, and didn't stop, just shortened his stride after that.
So, although it will take some time for his skin to fully recover, he is well on the way to health again.
I took him back to his field, after giving him his carrot-medicine (!), and remeinded him not to gallop around!
So, hopefully this will see him slowly improve over the next couple of weeks.

Ivy's Funeral.
Thank you for all your positive messages a couple of days ago.
The day went off beautifully. The weather was lovely, there were a lot of people from The Church there, the Vicar gave a lovely eulogy (that was both true and funny), the hymns were both the ones Ivy chose and ones I loved.
The Bible reading was from Revelation 21 .... "God shall wipe away all tears"
Yes, there were tears, we are selfish and miss her ... but she is at peace in Heaven, which is what she longed for.
So it was a lovely tribute to a very special lady, who I had been proud to call my friend.
Farewell Ivy ... I shall miss you, but we will meet again.

And ... Colin didn't go! His wife and kids were there (but their other halves weren't there either) and they kept to themselves.

There's Good News ... And There's Bad News
Of course!
Well, it wouldn't be DJ if it all went easily, would it.
We checked him this morning and looking good. While strapped, he was sound.
So Toni suggested we see how he looks as he stands, so was holding the rope as I undid the strappings ... And spotted his legs weeping very slightly. The good leg, worse than the bad, ironically.
He has developed cellulitis - so now he had his legs scrubbed with surgical spirit, which he really loved. The wound powder rubber in and the the boots on. Although they are made of neoprin, so he will sweat, the pressure is even on the skin ... and he does need support.
I then walked around the yard with him for about 1/2 hour ... just letting him walk a bit, cuddle a bit and eat a lot!
Then back out to his field - so he can show off his new style.
I won't see him till Monday now, but Toni will check him twice a day - and if necessary he will go out "naked" - so his muscles will ache, but his skin will breath.
And - ther's a possibility of even Badder News ....
Rosie was taken ill 2 days ago, and when I heard from Ros yesterday she was a bit better. While DJ was mooching, Toni popped down to see how things were, and when she came back she changed her clothes immediately. Ros isn't saying the "S" word, but Toni is sure she has Strangles. I do hope not, for lots of reasons - but mainly if Ros is not acceptoing that she won't be doing quaranteen, which means we will have to ... DJ has had it twice, smudge, Badger and Junior once ... we don't want to go through that again, do we?
