I finished the series.

Chicken of Metal Chicken of Ice

Also went to the study conselling thingy and now have most of a timetable for next semester, a therapy session, shopping for clothes (not long and not finding any) and paint (got some bicolor metallic paint in red-copper and blue-turquoise for the kingfisher pendants I want to make.

04:26 pm - Let's see...
We didn't go shopping after all, so yay!

What did I get done. I ordered watercolour paper and some other stuff from Gerstäcker, and posted the signup for next month's [info]mrcaex.

Did a few practise sketches from animal photos found on deviantart, sketched and inked the two remaining elemental chickens, sketched and inked another adoption image for [info]mrcaex, redrew the adoption image I mentioned yesterday, because I wasn't really happy with the pose, and it was on shoddy paper, anyway, inked THAT, inked the request for Eliza on a new sheet of paper (homemade cheapo lightbox ftw!), and sight-copied the regular mrcaex for this round to a different sheet with better placement so that the feet fit on it, too... And now I'm considering scrapping that and starting over with somthing that'd fit the character better. Ehwell.

I managed to drop the brush on the image for Eliza, but luckily it was nearly dry, and didn't hit the paper near any details, so it won't be a problem to edit out the few splatters digitally before printing it out (laser printer ftw!). I had planned to colour on the same paper, if there were no complaints about the lineart, but there you go.

Brush inking is a bit tricky, so I'll practise it more. Washing the brush afterwards is kind of a pain. X(

06:28 pm - I've fallen for an angry midget...
My brain amuses me, sometimes.
Because when presented with a vast plethora of absolutely kickass characters (yeah, E.D.E.N at large) my brain goes and picks out the most boring, obnoxious little angry mouse of a bitch to fangirl.
...
Like, wth?

The dinos-pictures should have been a hint. Not even Lizzie got a personal portrait picture like that.

Then yesterday there was that... interesting bondage picture.
And last night I couldn't fall asleep because I knew I had to get up early (you know how that works) and so suddenly my brain started feeding me absolutely fascinating visions, quite juicy ones at that, of an impossible pairing way out in AU-land.

Stupid brain.

I blame the Newest Character Is Most Fun To Play With syndrome. Even though it's not even my characters. Sorry for abusing the hell out of your cast, Chi. ^_^;d

Stupid brain. Stupid pr0ny thoughts.
Stupid Gabriel.

Randomly.

02:29 pm - $#&*! technostuff!
So far I managed trying to...

- write with my tablet stylus on white paper.
- steer the cursor with the tablet and a normal pen.
- draw on my laptop's trackpad with my tablet stylus.
- steer the cursor of my laptop using my finger on the graphic tablet.

At least I never tried Ctrl+z on anything on paper. :D

pms, go away. I don't understand why my body decides I have to spend a day crabby and crampy just because I'm fertile.

I skipped out on sparring tonight in favor of mowing the lawn and eating a chocolate bar.

Lately I have been obsessed with Katamari Damacy. In fact I think I will play that in a few minutes.

Chicken of Stone Chicken of Plant Chicken of Lightning

So. There are two left, but I have no idea what to use as background for the metal chicken. :/

I also archived a bunch of loose-leaf sketches, getting my desk in better order, adjusted the lineart for Eliza's request, did a rough pencil sketch sans clothes for this month's mrcaex, and for one adoption image there.

So all in all I goofed off more than I had in mind, but 's all good. I *am* strangely proud of myself for putting away the markers and stuff right after finishing the images. I may be 15 years behind, but I'm learning. XD

Plans for tomorrow include getting up early and going shopping for clothes (sale season, oh bother), so I'll go to bed early.

I think I'm giving up on Side7. When I joined there were at least 20 submissions a day, now maybe two, and, more importantly, during the two years that I haven't been there they have not managed to fix the bug that leads to most images in the listing to be not displayed.

I switched on my desktop computer to heat my room. In July. Stupid weather. *sneezes*

As to the productivity reports, well, yesterday was so busy I didn't draw anything. The day before yesterday I'd done the lineart for the next elemental chicken, and started sketching that for another. Today I sketched a few hands while waiting for the test to start, and drew a fawn head from a photo in my deviantArt watchlist for practise.

I also did a bit of picking up (not that much was needed to put my room in order again, since it was made OK for yesterday), caught up on messages and watchlist on DA, and cleaned up my (e)mailbox a good deal.

Tomorrow I'll damn well spend most of the day drawing, probably mostly stuff I'm supposed to draw for other people. And maybe get the Fimo out again.

The test had two parts: picture processing - "write a function that mirrors the source image horizontally", "write a function that blends to images according to a mask", "write a function that applies a 5x5 pixels gauss filter to the source image" - and computer graphics - write something that draws a Menger sponge.

I have pretty much nothing at all for the computer graphics part, but the picture processing stuff, well... I needed longer than I'm sure I should have, but I got pretty much everything. It's just loops and numbers and copying the "write to file" functions.

I'd be surprised if I'd pass, but I'm feeling pretty good about half of it working out fine. :)

Life is ambling on.
Mostly things are good, even though the frequent phone calls along the line of "do you want to keep this?" from parents sorting through the last of the family's belonging before the house is sold undoubtedly sting quite a bit.

It was a good birthday, though. Chi gave me a gorgeous viking-style hairpin in solid bronze I've been drooling over for some two years now. It is very snazzy. I can now wear my hair Lizzie-style without the use of convenient nearby pencils or brushes.
Friend Nicole and her boyfriend came over with a delicious chocolate cake. We watched The Ember Island players and had a good time. ... They came over yesterday, too, with the whole of Sozin's Comet, and we watched that, too.
A very low-key, good-times weekend with good friends. Very nice. :)

Also, thank you, all of you, who wished me a happy birthday a few posts back! And thank you Croaky and Anla for the present. ♥

Finally, a heads-up - I need money to carry out my sneaky anti-November plans for this fall, so I'll be auctioning off the remaining prints I made this spring, come August. Pretty, sparkly prints... You know you want them... >.>

[edit] Ah, and thanks Kseena for the inspiration-wishes and Fortuna for the drabble, too! ^_^;d

08:06 pm - weekend..
Yesterday: Cleaning up kitchen and helping with cooking stuff for today.

Had a very bad day, mood-wise, for no particular reason. :/

Today: More helping with cooking, including cutting up two turkey breasts into filets, and breading and frying them.

Three of my mother's cousins, and the husband of one of them, came for a visit, see. It was a nice afternoon spent between a very nummy lunch, interesting chatting, very nummy cake, and more chatting. And showing them around our garden, seems like they only have a veeeery small one or none at all.

Then I went at the programming/studying stuff, with not very great success.

Later I introduced myself to the neighbours' four cockatiels, who were out in the aviary, and then was introduced to them. One likes getting his head scratched, and two ate sunflower seeds I offered them between my fingers. The one who only has one leg was shy, though, albeit the loudest of the bunch.

I'm tired and cold, and wish tomorrow was over already.

Oh, and I also feel like I'm living on the wrong planet or something.
I have no interest in watching the new Batman movie (I LIKED Batman and Robin and such - I just CANNOT take a guy who dresses in an animal costume to fight crime seriously), I have not watched one episode of Avatar, or Dr Who, for that matter, that Horrible Sing-Along Blog was so horrible I couldn't take more than two minutes (part of that is my difficulty understanding spoken English; nothing is fun if you have to listen to it 10 times to understand what's being said.)...
So, yeah, feeling severely out of the loop in online conversations lately.

Oh, yeah.
Silvy's still got it.

This started out as a relaxing doodle after having sketched and inked... 11? 12? characters for the E.D.E.N height chart lineup, and I just had to do something else for a bit.

So a doodle of Gabriel and two of her dinosaurs, right? Maybe even ink it a bit. Or smack some colors on, real quick. And some more. Bit of a background. Light and shadow-play. A tad more detail, here and here...

I'm pleased with how it turned out. X3

Gabriel is a funny character.
She's not at all interesting, quite boring and obnoxious, and I didn't like her much at all, except as a well-functioning cog in the wonderfully twisted machinery that is E.D.E.Nverse.

And then my perverted brain started serving me Gabriel/Sophia pr0n, or alternately retaliating!Team Switzerland/Gabriel pr0n, and suddenly she had loads of potential. X3

Poor Gabriel. She's such a bitter, spiteful indignant little mouse of a woman who no-one takes seriously, and who is wholly convinced everything, everywhere is a personal insult directed at her.
She and Sophia are bitter arch-enemies. Only Sophia isn't even aware, much less caring.
It's just. Not. Fair!

She's good at making dinosaurs, though. And even Sophia will be bound to take notice when El Niño there is unleashed.

Ha! Ha ha! Take that, Sophia! Ah-hahahahahaaaa!

Valenth released another species of adoptable already. And it's BIRDS :D

I am impressed with their apparent planning-ahead of new glimpses at the background/world, and, well, generally.

Um, yeah.

The day before yesterday the Daily Drawing prompt was "Feather", so I drew
Phoenix Feathers Chickenscratch

Yesterday I attempted to draw the neighbours' dog while she* was lying in the garden. She moved around too much for poor little me, I guess it'll take some more hundreds or thousands of sketches before the "remember shape long enough precisely and draw it quickly enough that you don't end up drawing two faces on the subject because she turned her head meanwhile" works.

And today I came across someone looking for "elemental series" images for a featured news article on deviantART, so I grabbed the first three of the elemental series ATCs I sketched last OCtober, re-sketched them in a bigger format, and finished them.

Chicken of Water Chicken of Fire Chicken of Air

One more is sketched; I hope to get some more done after that.

Also today I weeded the crack around the house and along the street, and mowed the grass-and-weeds. My mother's cousins are coming over for a visit on Sunday, which is a rare event. My room's doing pretty OK, a lot better than this morning.

Not getting much studying done, but at least now I know where the test takes place and am signed up. The description on the one hand mentions standard applications of image processing and computer graphics, which may be bad, since it's been ages since I had those lectures, and two days which feature a family function and preparations and cleanup isn't really a lot of time for that, but on the other hand says you should be able to write "Hello World" programs or a loop that prints the numbers 1-20, and I CAN do that.
I guess I'll see.

----
*The dog, not one of the neighbours. She** was busy working on an aviary.

**One of the neighbours, not the dog.

Episode 3 of Slayers Revolution and finally a new episode of Avatar?
World, you spoil me! ♥

Also, as for the latter one..? Aaawwwww...

[edit] Omgsquee. According to Nickelodeon's site, there's a whole bunch of new Avatar coming up this weekend, including the (yes, two-hour) final episode. Will there be closure at long, long last!?
Ahhhh, what a sweet, sweet way to spend my birthday~~~
