It has been thundering and lightning all night, I could feel the building shake with the thunder; it was pretty cool.

Found out on my flist ([info]twiheads) that Twilight is going to have a Twilight Collectors Edition published but I don't know what different it will have. Velvet cover maybe? mmmm; I'd buy that. *grins*

STOP HATING ON THIRTEEN.

THANK YOU,

If you want to know what I'm talking about, see here.

Fandom secret that's not really a secret:

I LOVE HER AND I'M NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT IT.

Same goes for Olivia Wilde. She is NOT a horrible actress, so shut the fuck up. And usually these Olivia dissers are Cameron fans (not always of course, but a lot of the time). Um, hello, and you think JMO can act?

Thelma and Cassie!

I'm watching Hex, and enjoying it much more than I expected. I like the characters a lot, pretty much all of them, or else I dislike them with the cheerful fervor that means they're written well.British TV seems to inevitably write characters that I love--or at least Hex and Jekyll have, though perhaps two shows aren't enough to state such generalities on.

Also, it will give me an opportunity to write girl-on-ghost!girl best friend porn, which is never to be sneezed at. They're so sweet together.

I put off watching Blood Ties for a long time. I'm not sure why; I really did love the books, so I think I'm probably a bit leery of it on that count. I know--and the author noticed--that they definitely changed Henry's character a lot. They turned him into what I rather thought of as Kenshin without guilt, someone easy going, courteous, and hella dangerous when roused, into a more Hollywood version of vampire.

But it looks like they've kept Vicki's flat-out badass awesomeness as best they could, and the lure of her is too much to resist. And Henry looks like a tolerable rendition of vampire and reasonably attractive, so I'm ready to plunge in, enjoy the sexiness of a lady in glasses, and write vampire porn at my leisure later. I never liked Michael--his possessive and intrusiveness turned me off of him--so I'm not at all upset at how badly they cast him.

a song that never fails to make me happy!

  • Sep. 5th, 2008 at 9:24 PM
I had a dream the other night that I was in a talent show and I was going to do 4 songs. The song with Gene Kelley "Whenever You're Away FromMe", "Suspended in Time", "Xanadu" - all from the movie Xanadu. And for some reason I was going to do that "Hopelessly Devoted To You" song even though it was from Grease.

Anyway - I was SO UPSET during the dream because I couldn't remember the first verse of "Whenever You're Away From Me" that I ended up waking myself up and I was so annoyed when I woke up I could NOT go back to sleep until I remembered it. So I was up for a good half an hour until I remembered it.

Been in the mood for Xanadu since then.

Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelley
This just makes me happy. I'm odd, yes, but there ya go. Gene Kelly is teh awesome. When I saw this movie in the theater in 1980 I remember thinking "What does she see in that Malone guy????? The old guy is much cooler!" I was eight.

Argh! I'm a Pirate!

I know I haven't been posting a lot of positive stuff lately, but I saw this today and... I really can't think what to say. It's really scary to me that people were treated like that.

For what it's worth, FreePress.net has a form that can be quickly filled out and sent to protest the journalist arrests.

Writer's Block: Sharing Haikus

  • Sep. 5th, 2008 at 11:06 PM

The Japanese haiku poet Basho once wrote, "Old pond / a frog jumps / the sound of water." Try writing some of your own haikus about the little things in your life. A haiku generally consists of a five-syllable line, a seven-syllable line and a second five-syllable line. You can also use any combination of ten-to-fourteen syllables.

Keeping Palin Under Wraps

  • Sep. 5th, 2008 at 9:56 PM
“I'm simply staggered that someone who could be president in an instant next January has been in her position for a week and cannot be asked questions by the press corps. Has this ever happened before in American history? Again: unbelievable. And terrifying.”

-- Andrew Sullivan

We should be used to this from Republicans, of course. This has been standard operating procedures going back to President Reagan. Critical questions are so liberal. If our majorities tend to be conservative, and if conservatives are content to accept this from their leaders, I guess there's not much we can do about it.

However, in Palin's case, given that she is so new to the team, it may be that they just want her to have some study time and to get caught up with all the policy positions and talking points. After all, she has already shown that she can be a pretty effective advocate, and she seems loyal all the way down to her go-go boots.

So long as you think you have Jesus in your heart.
