Problem you are having:

The layout looks great on Firefox and even Google Chrome, but i tried it on IE 8 and it came out all wrong: see this screencap (low quality because i'm in a rush). Anyway, so you get the idea. You can view it in action here.

At first i thought the problem may be due to the date margin i heavily edited, but turns out it isn't (or so i think). Also, another problem is that the entries go down, but the content is all the way up reaching the topbar, and it's weird. I really have no clue so any help would be much appreciated! :3

Hi. I feel stupid having to ask this but LJ's FAQ's confuse me. I have a journal that I am using to store my fanfics in. I want to do this

I can't figure out which code I need to enable a possible reader to click on chapter one and get taken to that chapter. I know there is a way to do it as I see it all the time but I seem to have suddenly grown too dense to understand what I should use. They all seem to point either to linking a site outside of LJ or to a entire journal. I just want to place links to a post within a post on my journal. I hope I am making sense.

Problem you are having: 1. I'm trying to change the font-weight of the user-link below the userpic on my friends page. Nothing happens though, I can change everything else except for the font-weight.
2. I've replaced the default user gifs with custom gifs and they show up, but they're cut off at the top and bottom. I've tried everything I know about css and these buggers still won't do what they're supposed to. If this description is insufficient I'll try and elaborate. I'm quite unfamiliar with css vocabulary.

ETA: Problem solved thanks to babyelefant and tidecomes. The modified css is in the comments.

Problem you are having: I have a lot of problems :(

1. I used to have this layout in another journal,xifer, where every entry had the same font whether I changed the font while writing the entry or not. I know it had something to do with my overrides... but now that I've basically copy-pasted my old layout into my new journal that font has changed to a basic font. It used to be the same font as the words Subject/Time/Comments, so how do I make it that way again?

2. Now that I'm a paid user I want to make use of my multiple userpics and have them show up on every entry, not sure why it's not doing that now. How can I fix this?

3. I really like those journals that have uh.. the tags and navigation. Like, it lists my past entries right on my main journal page and all my tags are in a list and are different sizes. I want this on my journal, is that possible? How? And if I get it, will it mess up my journal?

Problem you are having: #1. (not sure if this is a problem that can be solved) I'm having a problem with the ad that appears at the top of my page. I just recently changed my layout from one that only had an ad on the bottom. I thought this the new one would be similar, but the ad appears on top as well, skewing everything. Is there a way I can make the ad appear only on the bottom like my last layout?

#2. I have this black bar that goes across the content links (recent entries, user info, archive, etc.). It spans the width of the page. For the life of me, I can't figure out what to change in the CSS to make the bar shorter (so that it's only 75% of it's original width).

Problem you are having: I'm actually having TWO problems!

1. I'm overriding and adding my own graphic for the 'ul li'. As you can see in my attached pictures here, I have the custom graphic working FINE in the lists. But for whatever reason, I can NOT get it out of my metadata. I don't want it in there, I know it's an override I'm not doing correctly in either the metadata or misc overrides. ARGH!! Help!!

2. My custom lj user icons. They work FINE for the actual USER, but for whatever reason, my community icon stays the same as the regular user icon. HELP?!

Problem you are having:
1. The comments' page is messed up both in Firefox and Chrome. The 'box' around the first comment appears to have the 'box' of the entry inside it. I'm not sure if I'm making sense but in IE it works, which is surprising.
2. The comments are aligned a bit more to the left than the entry.
3. It was asked a couple of entries before for an Expressive layout, and I don't think there's a solution, but just in case: 'read comments' and 'link' show the same icon in the entry linkbar when it should be different.
4. I tried to do the same with the linkbar of the comments (add icons to the left of the links) but it wouldn't let me save the changes.
5. In the comments' linkbar there is a 'track this' link. It's not really important but I'd like to know if I can change that text to just 'track'. like I have in the entries.

Problem you are having: I've never made a livejournal layout before. I've always wanted too, but I never actually got around to it. I know HTML and CSS (I make websites) and now I want to make a LJ layout.

More specifically, I want to make a layout based on my new website's layout. You can find my website's layout right here. Would you mind taking a look at it and telling me if it's even possible for me to create a livejournal layout from it (I'm hoping that it will look exactly like it- with the navigation links underneath it like that and the patterned background on the content.

I was also considering adding a sidebar for tags, links, and my introductory paragraph. Would this work too?

Problem you are having: The link beneath the userpic is black and so is the background on the actually entry (for example, if I were to view comments or click on the subject link) but not on the main page. I can't figure out how to change the CSS so that the username is a different color.
