About
The "Every Other Tuesday Poetry Group" has been meeting up every two weeks in NYC for poetry workshops for over 4 YEARS straight!

During our in-person workshops, after the poem is read aloud or quietly, the floor is usually open and unstructured to attendees' constructive comments about the poem. However, if you want more structured advice, let us know, and we can give feedback the way that the receiver wants to receive it. (i.e., "This is what I was trying to do with this poem. Does it work?") The interesting aspect of group members critiquing a piece without knowing what the authors proposed intention is, is that we can tell the author what we think the intention is after we read it and how well that intention came through, and the author can then learn if he/she was communicating it well. Or, you can just have us read the poem and structure the feed back a different way (i.e. "I don't like the last stanza. Any thoughts on how I could rework it?") There are a number of ways for offering constructive feedback. We're open to whatever each person wants to do. We don't have particular structured workshop rules, per say.

This LJ community is a place to further explore poetry with a group. Use it as a forum for feedback when you can't make a meeting, want more comments on a poem from people who weren't present at the meeting you attended, or as a BEFORE&AFTER forum, meaning type in both the original poem you brought to the meeting and then the revised poem and the community will give you feedback about if they think the "AFTER" is actually better.

You may also want to use it to discuss favorite poets, list poetry readings, grant applications, and just chat about anything poetry-related in general.
