My name is Sura Roten and I am a senior in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Illinois State University. I am currently working on my senior thesis, a requirement to graduate from my department. My thesis surrounds research on the topic of fictive kinship in two very different types of communities – online sisterhood-based communities and offline collegiate sororities. I am requesting your help by asking you to participate in a short interview, conducted via email or instant messenger, about your experiences and relationships while a member of this community. The interview will take about an hour to complete.

About Yourself: You are better off looking at my profile, but suffice it to say, I love being outdoors. I like to fish, cook, read anything I can find, and I always am listening to some form of music. I play video games, watch anime when I can, and my favorite genre of all is horror, especially with video games. I watch all manners of movies, but my favorite kinds are classics, horror, and westerns. I also like Mel Brooks, and I primarily watch sci-fi and crime/forensic shows. Hey there,

I'm rather new here... I'd say about... hmm, half an hour new? So I just thought I'd drop a few lines and introduced myself. *ahem, alrighty.

Name: Online I just go by 'Phantom', in real life most people call me 'shut-up' or 'no!'.

Age: 19, turning 20 in July. Gah. Am I getting old? It's ok, it's ok. I'll have my panic attack in July. Now onwards!

About me: I'm just a little bit out of my mind it seems. Just a tad.

I'm currently a student at the University of Auckland "studying"  (mostly just wandering around campus looking for a free computer) a Bachelor of Arts with an English and Film major. This is my second degree as I've done nursing as well.

Hmm, what else? I'm a writer so... extreme moodswings run rampant in my room. At all times. Best to be on your guard.

Why I joined: Dunno, I guess this seemed like a fun community to be in, mostly relaxed, doesn't seem too overly dramatic. I'm into relaxed... there's too much drama around already as it is!

Sachiko just rocks my socks... when she isn't scaring me or driving me insane with all the lack of actual communication skills. And also, Yumi rocks! They both rock! ... What You Want to See in a Soeur: What I would like most in an soeur is probably someone with an outgoing attitude, and a good sense of humor. I'm a very laid back, so it's nice to have someone that I can joke around and be silly with. However, I'd also like to have serious conversations at times. That would be nice too. It would also be good if I could fine one who enjoys life's simple pleasures who just has an optimistic outlook toward life overall. Negative Nancys make me sad. D:

About Yourself: I am currently a sophmore in high school. Generally, my mood is very optimistic and my outlook on life is pretty good. I love my life very much and wouldn't trade it for the world. <3 When my friends are sad I try my hardest to make them feel better, which is mostly because of my personality. I can't stand seeing my friends upset or sad in any way. It gets to me. For the most part I'm not that selfish, but like everyone I have my moments. We all have our moments, don't we? As far as negative traits go, I'm quite a sarcastic child, but that's due to my Scorpio-ness. My bouts of jealousy are also due to my Scorpio traits as well, haha. ^^; Stupid green-eyed monster of envy.

Tae Kwon Do has become quite a big part of my life now. I have classes two hours a week for an hour, but I help out with the two classes before mine. I enjoy it very much, and I hope to be an instructor one day~! Currently, I'm at the brown belt level, yet as fate would have it I'm testing for my brown belt with a red stripe this Saturday, so I'm one step closer to my black belt!

I enjoy reading a lot, especially a good fantasy book, and I like writing too. Ever since I was in the first grade anime and manga have been a high interest of mine as well as the country of Japan itself. I plan to be a Japanese translator one day, so naturally I show interest in it. I'm getting more interested in South Korea too, being influenced by Tae Kwon Do and all...

That's about it, really. ^^; I hope I haven't bored anyone too much.
