Every morning goes the same way: you wake up, wash up, grab a bite to eat and run to class. Knowledge is power (or so they say) and you want to learn. And this place -- EverNoir Academy, ever beautiful and ever prestigious -- is the place to do it. Your home, your life, your world. Perfect, pristine, and more than you'd ever imagine.

You attend all your classes, cram your head full of knowledge, talk and learn and laugh with your friends. There are tests to be taken. Lunches to be eaten. Classes to be skipped, if you'd like. Sports to be played. Your life is bright and full of hope, wide open and just waiting for you to go in any direction you choose --

Right?

Hey. Remember that blackout last week? They said it was something about the cables, right?

Remember that poor kid who collapsed the other day, vomiting all over the place? Think he really just had food poisoning? How come no one else got sick?

Remember that "flu bug" that rampaged through the east hall of the dorm, last year? Think that was really just a bad cold that everyone got? But it seemed like everyone got it at once...

Must just be a coincidence.

Well, keep on thinking that. Please go on with your lives. Enjoy them. Because if you knew what was going on, it might skew our experimental data, you see. You might start looking around and noticing things. Finding things out. Like why a single school needs so much power. Or why none of the buildings on campus have basements. Or where some of the teachers go, when they're off duty.

Or you might even try to escape.
