About
Hello, and welcome the fanfiction journal of [info]xchaosbutterfly, [info]arynnoctavia, [info]icon0clasts, and [info]morsxmortis, otherwise known as [info]esotericlyric!

For your convenience, here is a list of all of the fandoms for which I have written fanfiction. If you're looking for everything I've posted having to do with one fandom (for example, Harry Potter) but don't want to wade through those of other fandoms (for example, CSI) click on one of the links below.

Harry Potter | CSI: Crime Scene Investigation | The Office (US) | Hot Fuzz

If you would like to see my visual work pertaining to pop culture (icons, fanart, colourbars) please see [info]icon0clasts. If you'd like to see my creative work (poetry, photography, other visual fine arts) not pertaining to pop culture, feel free to brows my deviantART site, arynnoctavia, or my personal web site, Arynn Octavia's Nostalgia.

Fic archiving:
Archiving my fics is fine, as long as my name (Arynn Octavia) and some sort of way readers can contact me (a link to any of my LiveJournals, my fanfiction.net account, an email address, or a link to my personal website) is included in the archive.

Reviewing:
Last, but most certainly not least, I come to my thoughts on reviewing. Let’s face it, reviews are like heroin for writers. It motivates us to keep writing, it helps us break out of idea slumps, it sometimes even gives us ideas… it’s generally a very very good practice to review an author’s work if you would like her or him to continue writing. Writers write for our own pleasure, yes, but we also write for the people who read our work.

My acting teacher had a word for when stage actors ignore the presence of the audience, and just go about their role without regards to the reactions they are getting. He called it “acturbating”. While “writurbation” can be fun, and I engage in it quite often, the involvement of others makes the whole situation more pleasurable for everyone involved. So, please feel free to comment on any of my work in this journal.

Also, I would plan to continue writing until they pry my computer out of my cold, dead hands. Over time, I would also like to improve my writing. Therefore, I would appreciate constructive criticism on all aspects of my writing, including style and flow. But, please give criticism out of a genuine interest in improving my writing. If you want to complain about some other aspect of my writing (for instance a certain pairing I write that squicks you, or some aspect of the plot that bothers you), otherwise known as flaming, the place to do so would be in your own private journal, not mine.

Spring '09 changes:
I have decided to convert this journal into a community, mostly because I'm tired of having to log out of my main LJ to post something in this one. I'll still treat it the same as a journal, meaning I will be the only one allowed to post entries here, but this just saves me time, especially since I've been posting more often.

I thought I'd give fair warning to anyone who has friended this journal: When the conversion happens, you will be placed on the 'Watchers' list of the new community. You can join (or not join) the community as you see fit.
