GLITCH THEFT AUTO IV RIGHT high-five
My desire to contribute original content to this community is so strong I feel like if I want it just a little more, I can physically manifest the ability to take screen caps and movies. :( Anyway it hasn't worked yet, so here are some youtubes I found regarding GRAND THEFT AUTO IV glitches, 'cause I've spent a lot of time watching [info]tallon_v find glitches in this game and they are REALLY FREAKY. (I'll edit in here if I find any vids of the NPCs getting folded up and stuck in the window of the clothing store. they don't do this by themselves or anything, you have to hit them with a truck first.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sv52Zed7Fxg - (NOT WORKSAFE) THIS is a little long, interspersed with strippers and a bit of, well, GTA being GTA. But the glitch is a GRADE-A CREEPFEST with classic off-map, stuck in a wall, jerky backwards elbow action. And Vagabond is just a really good song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNK-t_aXf2A - GTA4 is trying to ease our fears regarding the hollow, grey void below the surface of the earth by landing Niko back on the ground when he falls through the map. Instead, it looks like he's freakishly time skipping, gradually losing his mind as he suffers through waking nightmares of a death at terminal velocity that never comes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y8odz2WlLA - this one is called "GHOST HOSPITAL" and yes it IS as scary as the title sounds, especially if you're a person who spends a lot of time wondering if parts of the world don't exist when you're not in them. This video shows how to get the hospital to "un-load" while you're still in it using a car creation cheat. It's almost like the hospital is a memory, and only when you get in car do you see it as it really is... :'(

Okay so I'm a big... uh fan of the Dead or Alive games, even bigger fan of Dead or Alive Xtreme. I've encountered my share of glitches in the latter (after 500 hours plugged into that game, who wouldn't? x_X)

Though this is not my video, this happened to me once when I was playing as Kokoro. Only my jetski thing was flipped upset down and Kokoro was spazzing out on the floor. D:

This glitch, however, takes the cake. I've no idea how it was done, but it is indeed hilarious yet terrifying D:

So... I don't have any actual new or unheardof glitches to post, but this is just something that was on my mind.

After I've found out about a glitch in a game... particularly if it's big... I tend to get a little bit paranoid about playing the game alone afterward, especially in the area where the glitch occurs (if this applies). Like, I want someone else there with me, just in case it flips out and does something weird on me. D:

    Irrational fears are fun.

Does anyone else do that? :D...

I also find this video really creepy, not just because it's a scary glitch, but also because it appears that the person who made it was filming the glitch alone IN THE DARK and I just couldn't do that like ever kthx.

    God I need therapy. xD

    Zelda SNES glitch
No posts here in a while? Here's a nice video I found of a somewhat terrifying glitch in Zelda 3:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3iKQXk7AMY

What do you think is the glitchiest game you've ever played? I would have to say that Secret of Mana and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 are pretty high up on my list. Mana in particular had a lot of crazy things you could do, things that would totally mess up and freeze the game, or possibly even render your save file unusable. There are few videos out there despite it being such a popular game, so maybe someone with a video capturing device could try some of them out sometime.

As for Sonic 3, the game was clearly rushed to meet deadlines and had numerous spots where you could get stuck, fall through walls, freeze the game, or cause graphical glitches. Fortunately, virtually all of these problems were fixed in Sonic and Knuckles and using the add-on cartridge feature removed them from Sonic 3 as well.

Everyone please post more stories! What were some of your favorite glitches?

    Glitch wiki
    Hey guys,
I've been thoroughly interested in video game glitches for many years, and recently began work on a video game glitch wiki. Dunno if you guys have heard of it, but I'm the webmaster of the Center for Glitch Studies. The new wiki has over 1000 pages and I think it has some promise. If you guys are interested at all, feel free to add some glitches - anyone can edit! If it's cool, I might also include some glitches (and videos) from this community on the site.

It's called Glitchi and you can see it at http://www.editthis.info/glitches.

I was looking for interesting video game clips on YouTube and found some fun stuff.

In this one, casting certain spells on the Adamantaimai enemy causes a "Data Error" crash! At least the programmers were nice enough to put in a failsafe so you can exit the battle.

Normally, Cait Sith only gets two Limit Breaks, the second one being the slot machine. But in the original Japanese version, Cait Sith can reach a third level. Of course, it must have been a programming oversight as all it does is cause graphical glitches.

And finally, this poor guy needs a new PS2. :-/

P.S.: Please excuse any broken links while I try to fix them. I am typing this all by hand, and it's impossible to tell uppercase i's from l's.

    TERROR BELOW THE SURFACE ....
I hate the submarine underwater section of FF7 enough as it is-- the music is creepy and upsetting and in the distance you can sometimes see emerald WEAPON loading over a crater.

WELL THANKS TO THE DEBUG ROOM I HATE IT EVEN MORE. if you talk to this one sailor guy in the FF7 debug room, he will send you to the gelnika downed shinra plane. if you exit Gelnika you'll be underwater but instead of being in your submarine, you're driving uhhh the KEY OF THE ANCIENTS.

and as the Key of the Ancients, you're not restricted to the underwater caverns and can travel all over the world map (but cannot exit to the surface, ever) Unfortunately, none of the rest of the map is charted as being anything, so you basically float over oddly mountainous grey polygons and can go higher than you should be allowed to (and EmW is nowhere to be found)

I though I'd brave the horrors of these nautical miles of deadspace to see what was on the other side of the world (and wondering why the whole map even exists if you're limited to the center, between the continents) and I discovered that there is an ALTERNATE UNFINISHED version of the caverns under Wutai and the islands in the upper right of the map. /)___(\ In the upper right, areas where it goes off the map just end up in blackness that never loads, and there are no locations present (like Gelnika or the Reactor)

now that i know there is an alternate weird version of the underwater area, i don't ever want to go down there with a normal play-through. :(

    Try this at home!
So who here has wandered out of the boundaries in games before? I always thought that Zelda: Link to the Past was pretty solid in terms of programming, so it came as a surprise when I found out there were (easy) ways to get "outside" and totally mess things up.

First, simplest way to do it. Load a save file. Go into a dungeon and find a room with two levels (Thieves' Town dungeon is a good one). Jump down off a ledge, and hit select while Link is in mid-jump. Save and quit.

Now, start a brand new file. Listen to Zelda, wait for your uncle to leave. Now the fun part. When Link jumps out of bed, he will fall through the floor! Congratulations, you are now free to wander about unhindered by walls. You can see pretty much every room considered a "house" or "shop," and some cave areas. But wander too far, and you'll crash the game. It makes a horrifying noise when that happens. :-O

I'll post more cool stuff from this game later.

EDIT: an awesome video of the GBA version, which apparently has even crazier glitches...

You think you've seen the Minus World?
If you are familiar with Super Mario Bros.' Minus World (also known as world -1), please view this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_RN7TarW9Y
This is from the Japanese version of SMB for the Famicom Disk System, an add-on for the Famicom(NES) that ran games off a floppy-type disk instead of cartridges. Apparently it accesses the game data from other areas of the program when it loads, because this glitch is completely different from the cartridge version. Not only does it load a different level, but you can actually finish it and go to -2! And -3, which appears to be an underground version of 4-4, with water instead of lava (blue color palette). But it seems to think it's also underwater, hence the Bloobers.

This has me very confused. Now off to lunch.

    Hi guys!
I guess it's about time I joined this community, seein' as how I am both very fearful and extremely curious about video game glitches.
The first glitch I fiddled with extensively was the town glitch in Zelda II. Basically, you go to Darunia (the town near the sea on the northern part of the eastern section of Hyrule; pass through the caves to get there), and use Jump magic to climb on top of some buildings. When you reach and tallest one, select your Fairy magic. Jump up above your status bar and hit the select button while Link's off the screen. He will DROP rapidly and land in CRAZY TOWN. The buildings will change sizes as you walk around. If you exit the from wrong side of town... Link will appear on the overworld map, stranded in the middle of the ocean. Reset. -_-

The legend of-- oh god kids it's a glitch, get in the car.
Well me and Ahvia's nerdular night last night ended in error terror. We popped in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and pretty much played with the intent of finding glitches. The first was difficult to accomplish, but well worth it: In Zelda's castle map (as young Link) by the cave where you obtain Din's Fire, there are two polygonal walls that come to a point and make a very defined edge leading up to a hill of random and seemingly untouchable grass. If you're careful and get the camera and your movement exact, you can climb the very thin line of this polygonal intersection and walk all around the upper hill. Now... You can keep going and then fall off, which ends in a horrifying and long drop into pitch black. Or you can do some of the other codes that I was too impatient/scared to do.

Then I tried two more glitches found on the internets only to discover another one myself (although i'm sure it's on the internets too, I just never looked it up). the first is the "invisible" sword glitch. Fairly simple, you fight ganondorf, escape the castle, and then let Ganon knock the master sword from your hands. Once you lose the master sword, save your game and reset (NOTE: This apparently does not work for all cartridges. It will be almost guaranteed to work if you have the special edition gold cartridge, though it's a considerably less chance if you are using a grey one. I, myself, have gold). Once you start up that file again, you'll be at the entrance to Ganon's castle and the B button (your sword swing) will be blank and totally useless. If you go to the menu and equip a weapon, the invisible sword glitch will be cancelled... So don't do that.

Now having the ability to not use your sword is not that fantastic of a glitch by itself. But there are a few new things you can do because of it. First of all, you can use ALL of your weapons on Epona. That means the hookshot, bow, deku nut, Din's Fire etc. Now the first possible glitch you can abuse because of this is in Hyrule Lake by the big ol' tree that is across the bridges. Ride Epona over there and use the hookshot WHILE STILL ON EPONA on the tree. The chain will be stuck in the tree and the hookshot noise will annoyingly keep going. Now, dismount Epona (make sure when you fire the hookshot that Epona isn't moving. if she is, you won't be able to make her stop or dismount and the game will be essentially frozen) and link will shoot up slightly in the air with the hookshot still in the tree. You can now make link slowly hover in the air across the lake. If you touch the ground, you will stop with the hookshot still out and will again be frozen. It's quite entertaining.

Now, the final glitch I discovered on my own (Also requires the invisible sword glitch) includes epona and a deku nut (or any of the Din/Fayror/Nayru spells). While riding Epona, use one of the weapons mentioned before and you will fall off epona, BUT the game still thinks you're riding Epona so every move you makes as link reflects how epona moves. In addition, if you're standing still long enough for epona to slow down, you can press A to mount epona from wherever location you are and you will magically appear on epona. Depending on the height levels that both of you are on it will make you mount under the map and then appear on epona or mount over the map and then on her.

    These scared me a lot...

    FIRST POST IS A DOOZIE
yeah i know the only other person on this community right now was sitting next to me when we watched this but i'm documenting it here for posterity and science.

Scariest glitch I've ever seen in Shadow of the Colossus, and that's saying alot since there aren't even any colossi involved.

that makes me a little hesitant to go exploring fascinating rock formations for hours like I tend to when playing SotC, even though, ironically, I'm pretty sure stuff like this is all I'm ever really expecting to find.
